Honestly, no, the way these situations usually get caught is because a new tenant who has paid for the spot calls us and says there's someone in my space. You check the vehicle roster for the building and see that the vehicle in question belongs to a group of three in another unit but they only pay for one or two assigned spaces. We kindly inform them to move their car or risk a tow, backcharge the parking fee for the third spot, add another negative Google review to the pile, and everyone moves on with their lives.

Us not being obsessed with it is precisely why people are put in a position to get away with it for so long and then get pissed off when it's time to pay up.

If Milwaukeeans could read, they would be very upset. We've been proudly run by self-described socialists and/or democrats without interruption for more than a century. The last republican to hold a notable position of power in the City of Milwaukee left office in 1908 I believe.

The point being that if someone would rather kill himself that save to buy a small house in a not-too-good area, then he doesn't deserve any redistribution at all at any point of his life, ever, and it would be a very severe moral mistake to have a system in place where that person will ever be a beneficiary of state mandated redistribution.

Our lease makes even me a bit uncomfortable. Some of the stuff in there is pretty wild. Sometimes a call will make it up to me and I'll have to tell tenants that this is a "don't ask, don't tell" situation. It's in there because someone before you forced us to put it there, and you should abide by the terms of your lease, but if you're a normal human being and have a basic understanding of what is and isn't safe or acceptable in polite society, you'll be alright.

Yeah, a lack of empathy is kind of the defining characteristic of "horrible people". Putting a distinct lack of empathy on display is justification for being called a terrible person. I've made unsavory comments that have been rightfully called out as awful. Thats how it works

Alright. I’d be pretty peeved if that happened and I got a fat bill instead of like a warning + one time hit. Think most people would feel the same. Like how people hate getting speeding tickets even though everyone speeds.

I put my empathy toward people who follow the rules and struggle anyway, not the ones who think their (often self-inflicted) circumstances in life justify pretending the rules don't apply to them.

I've authorized many, many refunds over the years. As recently as 20 minutes ago, in fact. There's plenty of empathy to go around.

And people wonder why Christians get a bad rap.

At some point, try a little introspection. There's a reason you hear that a lot and I never do.
