I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Disgusting most of the time, mcdonalds among the lowest you can find.

Lol at McDonald's. Haven't been inside one since high school. Don't you guys know how to slice a dozen apples?

I'm not sure which is more cringeworthy: that you're insinuating people go to McDonald's specifically for their bagged apple slices, or the hint that consuming a dozen apples at once is something any sane person would consider a valid meal.

Gym bros are something else.

tbf I've never been to the US of A.

Damn I want Gorgonians prices. Double cheeseburgers around here are $3.79 but 2 for under $5 is still a pretty good deal. Any of the BOGO $1 offers, free medium fries and $1.39 for a drink is a pretty cheap meal. If you're spending more than $10 per person at any FF place you have no one to blame but yourself.

most fast food places have adopted the coupon tactic using apps so the rich white folk such as your self who can afford to pay $26 and would rather just order what they want without installing an app and looking for deals will be charged the max while poors like me scan the apps and find the most cost effective purchasethat's what people don't understand about coupons - the pri

It's called market segmentation and airlines started it historically, but yes nowadays more and more companies are attempting that

by weeeez

I can't believe fellow 2+2 posters would eat in fast foods.

Also I don't use apps for that but I suspect clearing cookies works the same as airlines companies.

McDonald's is actually less horrific in the USA than it is in Europe.

In Europe it's dog food if you hate your dog for the most part. Not the same in the USA. I am not saying it's rally good or anything but it's edible

I think it's pretty likely you were overcharged and you didn't notice. Also, how do you let this happen? If I ordered two burgers and a milkshake and they said 26$ I'd laugh in their face.

He is Canadian, that's 26 Canadian dollars

Really love the vicious cycle.

“Prices are too high and we aren’t paid enough!”

“You should stop ordering food delivery and avocado toast!”

“Prices are still high when they’re supposed to be deflating! Even McDonald’s is expensive!”

“Omg, people who buy McDonald’s are idiots! Also, just use the apps!”

“If deflation isn’t happening, I need to be paid more to buy things!”

“Why do you need to buy so many things? Also, buy more things because our economy depends on it!”

Prices are too high. Wages are keeping pace decently for the most part but the goal isn't to break even with effort, is to improve meaningfully year after year, so people are upset.

Also, it's extremely easy to "fall for it" and be destroyed by a very well oiled machine built to exploit your leaks. That's where most people fail.

Those who fail less take some pride in dodging the exploits and that's what you are reading here. How people use their conscientiousness to systemically try to avoid being outplayed by a system built to outplay low willpower individuals (who are the majority)

Anything more than surviving is a “leak.” Lol.

I always thought the appeal of a giant corporation like McDonald's was that you'd get the same experience no matter where you go, but friends of ours were in Paris recently and for one the meals they had between an otherwise busy schedule, they just stopped in for a quick burger and fries at McDonald's. They said it was a major disappointment and borderline inedible.

I forget exactly which other food they mentioned buying at a nicer restaurant in Paris, but it was something they expected to come with some sort of pomodoro sauce and it came with straight up ketchup instead.

Get your **** together, France.

They sell apple slices at McDonald's? Apples are a great post-run recovery snack. A large watermelon also hits the spot. Also, I'm not a gym bro, bro, but I do lift weights 4 times a week to assist my running. Lol at sperging out over apples when people are talking about downing two double quarter pounders with cheese.

It's not "France" ****ing it up. In Europe and elsewhere competition is harder than in the USA because of local approaches to the equivalent of "fast food". Like a nice croissant/baguette filled with some cheese and meat, you have to beat that in flavour and/or price and/or convenience in some sense in France. Which means cutting corners about quality a lot basically, because McDonald franchises typically open paying a lot of rent, at least in major cities here.

Now you still have the magnet of fries, and/or some children stuff (I know because my kids request to go once or twice a year to get some stuff added to the happy meal or whatever the name is today), and/or some promo with major movies and whatnot.

But I mean in Italy you have SO many options under 10 eura for a decent quick lunch that tastes better and is actually healthier as well, and I presume the same is true in France , Spain, Portugal.

Now in "food desert" countries like Germany and Austria and the like it can be different but even there your competition these days is kebab which is a major industry actually with an incredible number of vendors at decent price/quality ranges.

If you have debts? **** yes?

The goal should be financial independence with literally everything else being under that goal. When poker was easy and everyone was making decent money with normal efforts I was taking the bus while making 10k/months they were buying Bmw.

Fast forward 20 years later I can live normally without ever working a single hour anymore (but if u do I have more options) and my kids are financially secure as well. I have won the easy level of the game of life basically.

But I had coffee with my moka at home until I had a fully paid for house and enough aside that at 5% returns could have allowed me to live normally without ever working a single day of my life anymore.

You have to feel physical pain for any single expense you make until you are financially independent.

Or you are a rat racing for other people to become financially independent and laugh at you for the rest of their lives.

You do know double cheeseburgers aren't double quarter pounders, right? Double cheeseburgers are practically bite size. I'd have to bring a friend if I wanted to finish a double quarter pounder in one sitting.

Double Cheeseburgers at McDonald's are practically bite size? That's some serious shrinkflation since I was a kid.

I think you are missing the part where step one isn't passing on Starbucks lattes, but making 10k a month.

Reminds me of a good BFI thread about achieving financial independence. Step 1 was earning 100$/hr. Everything else is just preparation for earning 100$ an hour.

Saving for wealth while making 25$ an hour is kinda pointless

Saving for wealth becomes trivial when you set your 401k to 10% and your company matches 11% and next thing you know its been 5 years and the retirement account you've literally never thought about has 250,000$ in it

If you are going to spend 12-15$ on a fast food meal for gods sake at least go to shake shack

if the 10k/month are within reach yes why not? but they literally aren't in many professions/career paths. and not everyone is talented for career paths that pay well.

so the person who could be quite happy working for an ONG at 45k/year should start saving yesterday on everything, I think you kinda agree.

now if they make 120k/year at 26 3 years out of college then ye they can probably afford Starbucks (and some other stuff as well), but we are in that case simply talking people making a lot over average for their age.

btw there are people who bought their own house fully paid + a vacation home + 300-400k + a pension on (the equivalent of) 25/hour starting 50 years ago.
