President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

lol, what did you do to set Karl off this time?

Didn't prostrate myself and kiss his copy of Das Kapital, I guess.

Rick, I got this postcard here, it was addressed to me but I think it was meant for you.

yes it's devastating to miss out on contributions like this, thank you so much for quoting it so i could see such wonderful insights

"Ce qu'il y a de certain c'est que moi, je ne suis pas Marxiste" ("If one thing is certain, I am not a Marxist")

-- Karl Marx.

I live a few minutes' walk from Marx's grave. I sometimes wonder if I should wander along there and silently apologise, first for the stupid Stalinist memorial stuck on top of him by idiots, and second for a certain American poker millionaire taking his name in vain. Only, considering how many people the old boy's ideas got killed, I sort of can't be arsed.

What a great week for Trump.

Do any of you anti American poor sports want to apologize about saying the Iran nuclear bombings were a failure? How about saying sorry for thinking the Iranians never were pursuing a nuclear weapon?

It's time to thank your daddy for keeping you safe.

Pretty much why I won’t travel to a non free speech country like the US ….
You can waste thousands of dollars for plane ticket and be stop to enter for expressing free speech .
I have to even make sure if I travel internationally, to have no middle stop in the US ….
Disgusting .

that is horrific, seriously messed up

If true which it probably isn't. There is always more to the story but you people like to react before all the details are in.

Seems like the type of thing that isn't true. Why would he be barred from entering the US because of smoking marijuana a couple times in his life? Marijuana is largely legal here

But really strange situation regardless

How would they know he had a JD Vance meme on his phone? Why was he singled out? What is the precedent for requesting a PIN to someone's private phone?

A lot of questions and zero answers

Must be nice to live in a free-speech paradise like Canada.

Amazing how you tried to put some light distance a few days ago with your daddy, just to comeback and show you are his number 1 cock gobbler.
Why even pretend dude?

Yeah Mongidig tried to post reasonable for about a week. Almost sounded like a completely different person. Maybe he was on Xanax from a procedure or something

A: Marijuana is still illegal under federal law, so Customs can be colossal dicks about it if they really want to be.

B: Presumably they searched his phone and found the Vance meme, they didn't know ahead of time he had dank Vance memes.

Customs can legally search peoples phones?

yes, they don't need warrants nor even suspicion of wrongdoing for basic searches.

if they have to hack the phone or something like that it can be different

This

Supreme Court curbs judges' power to block Trump's orders..

I've clipped the end off the headline because it's a more general ruling to let Donald do what he wants, pretty much.

Will be time to change the thread title to 'King Donald Trump' soon

i am acquaintances with an exotic dancer from spain due to all the travel we share in common

she travels around the world and finds freelance work along the way at various strip clubs - usually coming to the usa for a 1-2 months each year (she's currently in nyc, last year was in new orleans)

she's told me that she always leaves her regular phone in spain whenever she goes to the usa because immigration often checks her phone because she's worried if they find evidence she's a global stripper instead of the tourist she portrays herself as they'll reject her entrance

i previously thought she was being paranoid, but now i'm thinking perhaps it was speaking from real experiences

yes.

if you're worried about them seeing contents of your phone a few things you could do:

1) turn off biometric unlock (face/fingerprint) - now they can't force you to unlock it via force. they'll need you to enter your pin/password. might be problems for you if you don't, but they won't get in your phone if that's your concern

2) create a second user on your phone that you use while crossing

3) have a dummy phone on you (make it look reasonably real and not just barren) and keep your actual phone somewhere else in your luggage.

4) dont bring your actual phone at all

upload a backup of your phone on the Cloud and pass the Frontier only with a basic phone with nothing of relevance on it, then restore the full backup when you have entered.

uh?

Custom officers have been explicitly allowed to conduct warrantless searches since United States v. Ramsey (1977).

they did before as well but afaik that's when the thing was clarified by SCOTUS.

United States v. Montoya de Hernandez (1985) clarified that not even probable cause or reasonable suspicion were necessary to conduct those searches.
