So the Golden Nugget went to 9 handed, then back to 8 handed, now, they've installed some stupid extra bet at all the seats at the tables, where you pay $5 and if certain hands come out on the flop, you win money and/or get to spin some kind of wheel.

AND they went back to 9-handed.

I don't know who is in charge of this boondoggle, but they are ruining one of the great low-limit games in town.

So stupid.

At least, they are still no-cap buy-in on the NL tables.

Then there's these two screen where the wheel spins and the dealer can select if a player makes the prop bet

I've played 6 hours tonight and so far, no one has made the bet lol

unless the wheel is totally stacked it's an awful payout given how rarely those things will happen

glad nobody is doing it - would also absolutely kill the pace of gameplay if dealers had to take those bets etc

Not sure they ever have been. Several poker rooms in the Vancouver BC area, and have been for decades, afaik.

One of the local Indian casinos that consolidated their poker rooms into a single location installed 3 or 4 of these as part of their card room expansion. I played at one of the tables once, no one was betting. The table next to us, I saw 7-8 bets per deal, and the table was definitely the more "fun" table: lots of talking, laughing and maybe bigger pots.

Seat 9 (now I can't remember if it was 8 or 9 handed) is at a disadvantage because there is a special small screen on an upright between 9 and the dealer, encroaching on the 9 seats "airspace". I felt very uncomfortable/crowded there and immediately got a seat change button.

Not sure if this holds true at the Nugget, but the local's tables are just slightly lower than their standard tables. Don't know why this is, but after an hour or two at this table, my back was a little sore, which doesn't normally happen in short sessions.

Back in April I asked in the Breakroom thread if anyone had experience working these tables and I got no response. Well lucky me my room put one in to try and I'm now qualified to give an opinion. Here's a comprehensive analysis of what working on Bonus Spin Xtreme tables is like from a dealing perspective:

Really, I meant "the local's tables with these side bet game" as compared to "the local's normal tables". Maybe 2" shorter? Enough for me to notice immediately.

But then I remember thinking that about the LVGN's regular room tables, too. I haven't experienced the GN's side-bet tables.

lol you guys should have seen commerce's tables. There's a screen on literally every single seat so the dealer has to perform some incredible card trick shots just to not get them stuck on the screen.

The high limit room insisted on having them removed from their tables, not sure if the lower stakes still has them.

What was on the screens?

Some stupid game where you bet a dollar and win some amount of money for a straight, flush, straight flush, or trips on the flop, with some bonus for a royal.

I've never seen this happen, but I would say he posts dead $3 and a live $5.

A mandatory straddle is basically a third blind, so I agree with rob, 3 dead and 5 live.

If it’s not truly mandatory, then it’s the normal 1 dead 2 live.

If it's actually on the plaque or otherwise actually mandatory, it's a 3 blind game and they just call it a straddle. 3 dead and 5 live seems reasonable, but there should be a room rule covering this.

If it's just the players saying "Oh, we always do this" or "We all agreed" then it's not really mandatory. 2 live, 1 dead or whatever the players talk him into doing I guess.
