Okay then. I'll look into this more. Still beggars belief the IRG would pressure a violation when they've precious little defence against retaliation, so something's not adding up here. We leave it at that, for now.
You are looking at this from a western liberal perspective, where ending bloodshed is the priority.
Whereas in this part of the world projecting strength by getting the last shot in is a much higher priority.
If Iran can get a couple more shots in while Trump refuses to let Israel respond this will be viewed as a very important symbolic “win” for the IRGC.
Iran knows Trump just wants the fighting to end on his watch. And he can control Israel much better than them. So a reasonable calculation.

What also needs to be realized is that there is no real roadmap from here. This situation as it sits could last for a very long time because its playing out perfectly for Israel.

Well, part of it is no one is acting as if all the reports of massacres are true. Probably because they aren’t true.
The idea that Israel can be massacring people waiting in bread lines with tanks and machine guns every day for weeks and there is never a shred of real evidence is preposterous.
Unfortunately western media playing along with Hamas propaganda like they are is just de-legitimizing themselves and causing everyone to tune out, and doing the Palestinian people no favors.
They seem quite disciplined in pursuing their extermination programme.

No. My suggestion to pull back from the abyss was from a desire to see less bloodshed. My suspicions on things not making sense however are from viewing things objectively and I've already outlined my reasons why.
Right, I misread it.
This is what it links to

can you show me where it says 400k are missing/dead?
I’m legitimately curious
also isn’t this data self-published? so it doesn’t go through peer review and it doesn’t seem to be a study either.
It's based on IDF data. The link I posted above: https://medium.com/@m4xim1l1an/the-grim-...

I want to look at the study, I don’t want to read an interpretation of the study.
You think Bill is your research assistant or something?
No, I tried to find the study that the original article was referencing and couldn’t find where the article got their numbers from. All I saw was the link that I couldn’t navigate. I asked if anyone could tell where they got the numbers from and was sent a link to a different article that was not the study.
What happened to you being “the most good faith”?
The article doesn't appear available online, at least not through the Harvard data verse. But from context they used some sort of modeling to guesstimate the current population. And the output is only going to be as good as the model. And count me very skeptical the model is particularly accurate.
Regardless, there has actually been significant emigration from Gaza over the last 1.5 years, although much less than there should be if the UN didn't suck so much, which the Cradle article kind of glosses over. Google gives a guesstimate of ~100k.

Is it even an article? It is labeled as a data dump. “Article from Harvard” would imply that the methodology was peer-reviewed, which it may have been I just didn’t see it. Even if peer-reviewed I want to know what the methodology was which is hard to gauge without seeing the full article. I also don’t see the cited figure in the abstract so I’m just not sure where they’re even getting the figures from.

Yeah. It is just some maps. And it isn't associated with Harvard or gone through any meaningful review process in any way. It is completely open source and anyone can put anything there they want.
And apparently the maps are only looking at the 3 main enclaves of Gaza refugees and assuming 100% of people live there. So even assuming the methodology is accurate (which is a giant if), if you account for emigration and some people living outside the areas of high population density, that would probably account for most of the 400,000 "missing" people.
It is just empty propaganda.
No one is responding to all these massacre reports because no one thinks they are true. Every day there are supposedly IDF troop massacres of bread lines, and somehow no one can ever capture any evidence of it. Only carefully edited videos of the supposed afterwards, if that.
We just have to rely completely on Hamas "eyewitnesses" this is all going on.

there are plenty of videos before during and after.

Yet the IDF never deny these stories and just say they'll look into it.
Do you think it is plausible IDF troops are firing into breadlines daily and no one can come up with any video of it happening?
None of the 200,000 “journalists” in Gaza are monitoring troops with video, even cell phone cameras?
