how the hell did the dem establishment think it was a good idea to have cuomo run again? i havent followed this race much until last few days but they couldnt find someone else to run with less baggage?my favorite part of it was clyburn thinking he could play kingmaker again with an endorsement despite the fact he is a senator from south carolina, jesus these people have huge e
That's not how any of this works. Cuomo decided to run to undo the stain on his legacy. Short of Hilary Clinton joining the race, there isn't really anybody that could be perceived as more "establishment" than Cuomo.

I'm sure the Dem donors/institutions of NY who backed him could've found someone better to throw their weight behind

-I think most of these ideas will make NYC worse off. Only one way to know for sure though, and like I said I look forward to the experiment if it happens.
Speaking from a general viewpoint, not New York specifically, rent control is a notoriously tough policy to pull off. It has a tendency to turn into a black market, where people pay substantial amounts under the table to get the contract.
At the other end of the scale, unchecked markets also tends to very little to alleviate rent crises / housing crises, as the market unchecked generally prefers to build stuff where they paid more per $ invested, which generally does not favor cheaper housing or locations.
So, it is a problem that favors a pragmatic rather than an ideological approach. However, that can be politically costly. Expanding affordable housing often results in homeowners and property owners seeing a few numbers go down, at least in the short therm.
As a result, housing crises is one of those political things that require a combination of a tough hand at the wheel, a pragmatic approach, and someone who isn't all that worried about the next election. That is a trifecta which is rare in politics.

He's a former governor with huge name recognition . It was basically impossible to find someone with a better chance of winning in the lane he was occupying. Cuomo is already slumming it going from Governor down to mayor.

lol, the same guy who thinks Hillary was the best candidate for 2016 also thinks the billionaire sex pest who had to resign in disgrace was the best *possible* candidate for NYC mayor.

Because your party can't help themselves but run a campaign on opposing something or someone, or kicking anyone out who wasn't aligned to their perfect honorary paragon.
Mamdani didn't run a campaign on that. I think he was successful at making people feel like they were part of a movement as opposed to just voting away the bag guy - which doesn't motivate anyone and goes back to my opinion that Bernie had a better shot to beat Trump.
But I'm sure that most of the dems/libs/lefties, wtf you want to be called, will go back to your fear based, uninspiring tactics of both convincing everyone that the world is crumbling or burning bridges with folks over the intricacies of an issue instead of attempting to make a new friend.

Incredibly weird comment considering the dems ran on "things are pretty good, relatively" and that was so thoroughly rejected by the citizens that they elected the guy who was running on the platform of "the US as we know it will literally cease to exist if you don't elect me. like no, things are completely ****ed and the world is about to end. literally, seriously"
Sometimes you guys say things and I'm just like, what?

Charlie Kirk's brainpower couldn't light a lightbulb.
Gorgo showing us how dumb Charlie Kirk is with a quip that truly is dumb.
I'm certainly no expert on physics, but I suspect that nobody could light a lightbulb with their brainpower.
I'll help you out trying to make your point with humor: "If Charlie Kirk was in a horrible accident and sustained a major brain injury, how would they know when he is 'brain dead?'
Glad I could help.
addendum: I like Charlie Kirk.

Reminds me for some reason of a George Carlin joke:
"Who invented cottage cheese, and how did he know when he was done inventing it?"

He is brilliant. It's the jealous people who don't like him.
Actually, Mamdani's biggest supporters are the white/wealthy demographic. Luxury beliefs is a much better explanation of what actually happened.
Among "immigrants" it appears only "Asians" overwhelmingly supported him, for ethnic solidarity reasons. Most of the "immigrants" that Kirk wants kicked out supported Cuomo.
I explained to you the undeniable statistically provable benefit immigration has on the US just yesterday and today you are calling abject racist nonsense "common sense"

You made some good points and I think Charlie makes good points. I agree with him we need to be more careful who we let into this country. There are a lot of loopholes and scams.
