Losing so bad this week and I feel like I'm getting targeted at the poker room

Im a young poker player. I came back from college everyone knows me at the poker room because I play football and the first couple weeks. I made a bankroll of 8k I wasn't losing at all and when I did it would be for like 400 bucks and I would just stop and tell myself to come back. I don't know what has happened this week. I have lost 7k of my 8k and it's not like i'm playing bad. It's just like everyone is targeting me. I have been running into bad beats all week. I have aces in the small blind it gets to me and its already at 65 I raised to 250 I get 3 callers. The Flop is KAK 2 Hearts Check, utg bets 400 the other guy calls so Im like ok I will just call I have top boat. I call next card is a Queen of clubs not completing the flush which I thought was good. I check for deception again UTG raises 1300 other guy tanks for like 3 minutes then makes the call. I call, Ihave about 400 dollars after this call so I just call because I know no one is gonna fold for 400 more because everyone has bigger stacks then me. River is a 5 of hearts completing the flush. I lead this time going all in for 400. UTG rejams for 2000 and the other guy takes a long time like around 3 mins then makes the call. Utg rolls over 4 6 hearts for a rivered flush, I show my top boat and the table was like wow. I'm feeling good and the other guy is just staring at his cards then says I'm good. I start taking the chips and he throws his kings to the table for flopped quads and man I have never been done like that before and its like not just that I lost he slow rolled me. I was just like why would you do that he said I don't like you because your too good and its like I feel like I'm not getting fair treatment at the poker room because I'm 19 and "Football" is my job. I have people at the table saying your too young to even care about this money or you have NIL money don't worry about this and whatever I bet I get multiple callers even if i raise to 50BB and its like I don't know what to do. This is the only poker room close to me I try to go online and I've lost 1k as well. I have lost 2 big pots this week one to quads one to a rivered straight in a 4 bet pot the guy had 4 5 off and I had top 2 pair its like I don't want poker to feel like this to me. I love this game and I just lost so much this week. It just looks like a far way to go to get all the money I made in this good run I had back. People just saying mean things to me because I play good cards only. People making fun of my football team saying, "If your playing im betting on the other team, you don't look good". I don't know. I know I went on a rant. I just had to get this out and at least one person can see how I feel and give me advice.

Advice as always should start with
- what game are you playing ?
- how many hours have you played?
- what’s your win rate in that time?
- how many hours have you spent studying, what content, and how do you study?

I am arresting you on the charge of leaking too much information. You have the right to remain silent at the table, anything you do say will be used against you by everyone, do you understand?

this is a 2/5 game button straddle 15, i have played around 45 hours since I got back for summer. Wasn't really playing when I was in college. my win rate has been around 90 percent losing 2 sessions out of 14 until this week where I have lost all 4 sessions this week. I don't really study. I just watch it all day. Like people playing and stuff ike that. When I do study I just watch like youtube videos of people talking about how to get better

I don't try to talk a lot. People are just asking me a lot of questions. People out of nowhere just start telling people about me. Like yesterday someone on the table made me give them an autograph mid hand when I was in a pot. Like I'm not asking for this attention

Well, in terms of your results:
- win rate in cash is calculated in BB/hr, not a % of sessions won.
- 45 hours is no sample size at all. If Phil Ivey played in your game regularly, he would have 45 hour samples where he got crushed. Poker is a long term game.
- bad beats happen, and when we look at small samples, sometimes we get crushed nonstop by bad beats. Just have to be okay with that.
- you have played virtually no poker, and studied virtually no poker, bad beats aside it is very very very likely that you’re just not a winning player. Which is okay, it’s fine to have fun and just gamble. Or if you want to get good, the good news is the majority of players in live 2/5 are really bad so there’s opportunity.

In terms of people being mean to you:
- make a joke
- ignore them
- tell them you don’t appreciate their comments
- talk **** back

You’re a football player, have thick skin lol

Yeah, sounds like you were sun running a bit and have now crashed back to earth. If you are letting other players’ needling get to you, it wont help your results going forward. Part of live poker is learning how to deal with other people and some of them will be jerks. If you allow jerks to throw you off your game you will not be a winning player. Given your admission that you haven’t really put in the time to learn much about poker, I would concur with the poster who said it is unlikely that you are actually a long-term winning player. Nothing wrong with that (as long as you aren’t losing money you can’t afford to lose) but don’t be shocked when you go from lucky to unlucky and wind up losing

I’m an old football coach here to help

In order to win at poker you have to clear the noise from your head. It’s easy to think everyone’s against you, because they are, that’s the nature of the game.

I recommend the latest book by Jason Su
You have developed a confidence problem

In addition, I suggest you take studying more seriously & recognize a need to improve your image. I never thought I would say this, but I suggest you get a set of headphones and shut your mouth. Don’t be rude ever, but become the quiet guy for a while.

I have always been straight forward. This is what you did, this is what you need to do, & don’t bother me with this again.

Hope i didn’t offend you - I was just playing my old coaching role at the end - lol - meant no harm. Just throwing out some ideas - trying to help.

People get targeted for all sorts of reasons. They see you lose one hand, then all of a sudden everyone wants a piece. A dude is running hot, hes going to be in every pot with you. A player thinks he got a number on you, so you are on his sights. you been playing solid and winning, well the guy sitting next to hate your guts because you aint playing enough hands and when you do, you win, so dude is after a win from you now. the list goes on.

its wild.

That boat againt quads was just a cooler, dont think too much about it. although he didnt table it fast he did announce he was good. Im just surprice the room you play at doesnt have a bad beat jackpot.

Anyway just remember it you against 8 others who are trying their damnest to take your money.
