Caesars Poker Room to close for remodeling? mid July
Played today and the word going around is the rooms closing for remodeling. Not sure on the date of closing (heard maybe
There was a line in the latest Card Player stating that the eventual new room will be "much bigger", so they're at least making noises about not completely hating poker players. Of course, it took them forever to get to this apparently less than mediocre place, so who knows what will happen.
Unfortunately from what I've heard, the expansion is into more of the retail shops. So unless the expanded area is able to designed with a higher ceiling, it's just a larger dungeon in an out of the way area.
Earlier in the week I played a bit at the new poker room at Ceasars. I thought the location was pretty good and was organized well. I played 1-3NL $500 max buy in. Early evening on a Wednesday night. The game wasn't tight at all, lots of action. I only played about 1 hour and won about $250.
Any chance the Planet Hollywood room survives post WSOP?
I played a bit during series and the action/promos were ok.

Promos are not ok. None of the promos are OK, but out of all the promos PH is probably the worst. Venetian at least gives out $500 for the high hand promo. PH takes the same jackpot rake as Venetian and their high hand pays $50. The fact that anyone would ever play there is just absurd.

Think it was $100 pre wsop, not bad when there is only 1 table. But I doubt the room survives, looks like a ghost town post wsop.

Location is fine as soon as you are familiar with it (very close to the Caesars Food Hall and the entrance to Forum Shops).
But, unless this has changed since I was there about a month ago, they need to put up some signs showing where to locate it. As it is now, no-one's gonna randomly find the room and get inspired to play some poker.
I don't think matters too much if you have a beautiful & well run room like Venetian (who is very popular despite it's weird location), but for a small-ish room like Caesars some foot traffic would be useful. The previous location was perfect for this.
That was a really stupid experiment.
I guess it just goes to show how much more important slots are than poker. I know a lot of people thought the room was going to be gone for good, so glad to see this. I’m guessing that sad little closet they had for the previous few months was just because it would be kind of a bad look for Caesar’s’ flagship property to have no poker room at all during the WSOP.
Saw the Tweet from Kessler earlier - it confirmed what a fellow player at Venetian had said earlier in the day.
Am currently in Vegas, leaving early on Nov 5, so hopefully will be able to head down there and take some pics etc;
Edit: Can confirm the current, small room is almost impossible to find. Only saw one sign for it and eventually stumbled across it by accident, opposite a FedEx office ?!
I was there last night, they were installing the poker tables.
I'm surprised by this move, I was one of the people saying no way they bring it back, but they did. Hmm.
Of course slots makes them more money than poker so I would be interested to know the reason for this.

Maybe not in this case. Most of the slot action is on the other side of the casino over near the registration desk. There is another slot enclave over by the entrance to the parking garage. They are the older type machines and video poker.
Also confirmed by Caesars that the room is back in the old location from November 4th. Looking forward to play there again in a few weeks!
This is great news- glad to see this saga conclude, even though it was several times longer than originally planned.
They should've had a couple shills ready for the opening.

The move of the poker room had something to do with the refresh of the high limit slot room and a need for a temp high limit slot area. I wonder if it was determined that the drop in foot traffic and poker revenue due to the hidden poker room would not be offset by additional slots if the sports book adjacent poker room remained as a slot area.
Looks a nice room. Hope it takes off.
^Maybe that’s good if it keeps the nits out of the other rooms.
Was the old new room paying double tier credits?
