As you may have seen from Watbri’s posts, yesterday was a more relaxed and fun day in Vegas.
We kicked it off (Watbri, Guitarist and myself) with a cash game in the new room at the Venetian. Nice room, good dealers, efficient floor, but just a strange place to have the poker room - upstairs above the Palazzo amongst the shops. But the room was busy and we had a very fun table.
Watbri, Guitarist and I never ever soft play one another. This leads to some wilder than usual pots, most of which seemed to go Guitarist’s way, other than the one hand when I flopped a Q high straight flush and managed to get some value out of the great man!
I also finally learnt how to fold big hands. (It’s taken me about 18’years to get here). In the last hour I folded top two on a J76Q6 rainbow board when Guitarist rivered a full house with 67. I folded A9 to his river min raise when the flush came in on a AK982 board and I folded A4 on a 4456K when the table nit check-raised the river. All folds were correct but all hurt a little when big hands cost chips rather than accumulate chips. It was very enjoyable and fun session though.
A quick trip to Fashion Show Mall to buy the wife some gifts (AKA buying a ticket to next years series) and then we donated a few chips at the pai gow tables before hitting Craftsteak to maintain our annual traditions. The 6 of us had a fabulous meal and I’m not sure which was better - the amazing steak I had or watching Oscar lose credit card roulette for the bill - it was a close race for the evening’s highlight.
Beers whilst enjoying the extremely talented musicians crushing it at the duelling pianos in Times Square at NYNY was followed by a couple more drinks and donations to the dealer’s retirement funds at pai gow. A very enjoyable day all round.
I write this having also enjoyed my best night’s sleep since arriving, and I’m feeling good. It’s the $2.5k mixed triple draw this afternoon so Oscar and I will both be firing that; Oscar with hopes of a bracelet and me with hopes of surviving day one.
Unfortunately, the crew gets decimated today. Watbri is heading home to Northern California and Ryan and his girlfriend are heading home to England. It leaves three degenerates searching for glory.

Well, that was a rough experience. Had a great table draw with multiple players calling and drawing 3 and even 4 cards. Dealer even had to shuffle the stub on a couple of occasions which really shouldn’t be happening in a $2.5k. But, the villains kept getting there and I didn’t. Triple draw can be like that sometimes and when it doesn’t go your way or you get coolered when villains draw three, it’s rarely gonna end well.
I have two hours to contemplate rebuying but I’m certainly feeling a little tilty to do that straightaway.

I think I’m gonna eat a big, fat, unhealthy burger and drown my self-pity and first world problems in unhealthy food.
Vegas summed up in a nutshell…. bust a $2.5k tourney but go to bed happy because we won a $50 high hand jackpot in PH [emoji51]
Guitarist still feeling a bit rubbish so he is being hooked up to an intravenous rehydration / wellness drip for vit C and saline and some other ****. We’ll report back on whether the $300 is money well spent.
Plan today is to play the $600 mixed triple draw at MGM with Oscar who also is coming off a very disappointing WSOP Mixed triple draw event. He found himself sat at a table with his nemesis Benny Glaser, plus also Ali Eslami and Adam Friedman. For the other two players at that table, it was arguably the toughest table draw possible and one that you would not expect until the very late stages of such an event.
Was good to briefly meet TonySoprano yesterday. My apologies for not hanging around mate - a need for a cigarette at the first break and failing to make the second break meant that I was not good company at all. I do see that he is into day 2 with a healthy stack so well played TonySoprano and best of luck today.

That’s really interesting and thanks for sharing. Hopefully it has a positive impact on Guitarist although his lethargy and grogginess isn’t hangover-induced. He has said that it immediately cleaned up his sinuses though.
Busted 21st in the MGM $600 mixed triple draw, 5 off the money. Not unhappy with my overall play; just never really got a run going and was always fighting an uphill battle to stay relevant.
Will probably skip the 9 game tomorrow and come in raring to go on Monday for the $1500 2-7 triple draw.

We’re playing NL 2-7, blinds are 1k/1.5k, 2.5k ante. I open to 5k with a made Q. One caller and we have identical stacks, each with 14k behind. I pat, he pats behind and says “I have a J”. Dealer reminds him that there is round of betting still to come and he then checks. I now know he has the best hand. The question is whether you jam your remaining 14k in this spot with the worse hand and 15k in the middle. (There’s only a total of 150k on the table). LMK….

I always just chugged a quart of water. I carry lots of vit C on every trip. Might not work as good as an iv but it's not 300 bucks either.

In other news, Oscar and I had dinner at Cleaver Butchered Meats out on Paradise last night, having heard good things about this place. It has the same owners as Herbs and Rye so does get a lot of positive press.
In our opinion, the food was good, but not exceptional, and definitely a poor second to Craftsteak at the MGM. On the plus side, the steaks were about half the price of Craftsteak, the service was excellent, and it is always nice to get off strip for a change of scenery. And the cocktails were awesome.

Although most paid in casino chips, a small number of the Landmarks were direct entry. Including the Colossus one I played. I probably would have entered either way. There was a guy in the payout line with me that was cashing out a 550 (or whatever it was) that was cashing out 5 grand. I kept meaning to go play a 200 or 500 but never got around to it.
