Man, this for Black Phone 2 doesn’t look great. And lol at the song. It obviously won’t be in the movie itself but it’s a bad sign, like when they used Back In Black in the Death Wish remake trailer.
To be fair, it also looks like they’re really trying to not give much away, so we’ll see. But they certainly went in a different direction than I was expecting.
Guy on X insists Manhunter was a prequel to Silence Of The Lambs.
Um...it is. It's from the book Red Dragon, and Hannibal Le tor is a character in it before the happenings of The Silence of the Lambs
But Manhunter was first, as was Red Dragon, duh, so technically, SOTL is a sequel to Manhunter.
So, The Hustler was a prequel to The Color Of Money because Fast Eddie’s in both?
I mean, are you just playing semantics? Yes, technically, a "prequel" is made AFTER the original movie but takes place before.
But you know what he meant, right? Stop being a pedant.
Deep Cover, a silly movie about 3 improve comedians roped into undercover work to take down London drug dealers and killers, is, well, silly. But Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Muhummad as the three make it work. Bloom is freakin' hilarious. With Paddy Considine, Ian McShane, Sean Bean, and Sonoya Mizuno. Very entertaining but light as a piffle.
Watching The Shadow Strays - an Indonesian crime/action thriller about a secret cabal of female assassins fighting a corrupt government and amongst themselves. It's basically non-stop action and blood with a high body count and lots and lots of gore. So it's a feel-good movie.
Predator: Killer Of Killers is an animated trilogy of Predator stories where a Predator fights human foes from 3 different eras - Vikings, Samurai, and WWII. And then they come together in the end.
This is quite good. Damn surprised. Made by the same guy who made the live action Predator movie, Prey, which was also very good.
No technically about it. He also said the Red Dragon movie was a reboot, not a remake.

I have no idea who Harris is, but if he cites Mateo Ricci, I'm good with it.
I’ll go with Pet Sematary & Marabou Stork Nightmares, but Red Dragon packed a punch even after seeing Manhunter first, probably the scariest trailer I’ve ever seen along with the original in theater BWP one that is impossible to find. Black Phone also.
The inverse of this is I bought the novelization of Alien (by Alan Dean Foster) in an airport at 13 not fully grasping the concept even after seeing the trailer (great), then saw the movie a few weeks later (thanks Dad!) and it was still scary af.
THE LIFE OF CHUCK (2024): Hard to describe this one without spoiling too much. Let's just say it deals with life and death, with the emphasis on celebrating life while you can.
Director Mike Flanagan brings another Stephen King story to the big screen. I was not familiar with King's source material and, honestly, I am glad I went in cold. It is a movie that has three acts. The first act won't make much sense at first. But it will eventually once you discover what is really going on. Everything, for the most part, ties together nicely as the movie unfolds (assuming you are paying attention).
Tom Hiddleston gets top billing. However, he is only in about 1/3 of the movie. Not to worry, everyone else is great in this movie which includes several familiar faces. See if u can spot Mark Hamill and Mia Sara (yes her of Ferris Buehler's Day Off).
I enjoyed this one a lot. Some of it really hit home with me personally and being in my 50s now.

The opening action sequence is freaking fantastic. Rest of the film ia good, hilariously violent. No body part is left untouched by a sharp object.
Flow
Humanity has vanished. The only survivors are animals, a cat, a few dogs, a stork(?), a capybara, and a lemur are the stars of the film. They contend with a flood and survive, somehow uniting despite their differences.
There is no dialogue. The characters make animal noises. The cat, the star of the film, acts like a real cat. Watch for the cat chasing a spot of light that's reflected by a mirror or attacking the tail of the lemur.
The movie won the Academy Award for best animated film. It's beautiful to look at. At first it might seem that it's about climate change or a kind of parable based on Noah's Ark. It's more than that.
Imagine an animated film by Terrence Malick.
