President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
That's a good number. We didn't have money to travel when I was a kid, so I didn't start going places until I was an adult with a job.
Now that I think about it, by the time I was twenty years old, I had only been in eight U.S. states.
I'm 67 and I've only traveled to nine U.S. states + Mexico.
If you can do only one thing to improve your mental health, it would be to stop worrying about the climate. Our fancy rock will keep us all alive long enough for fully clean energy to get sorted out. The best way to speed that process along is to create more babies and keep rolling that genetic die to pop out a few more Newtons and Einsteins.Scientific breakthroughs are just
It doesn't "get sorted out" on its own, dipshit. You know the people who are sorting it out? They're the same people warning you. And luckily enough people started listening (hopefully) soon enough, otherwise you ignoramuses would be royally ****ed.
People like you are basically the punchline of this joke:
A storm descends on a small town, and the downpour soon turns into a flood. As the waters rise, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch, surrounded by water. By and by, one of the townsfolk comes up the street in a canoe.
"Better get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast."
"No," says the preacher. "I have faith in the Lord. He will save me."
Still the waters rise. Now the preacher is up on the balcony, wringing his hands in supplication, when another guy zips up in a motorboat.
"Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute."
Once again, the preacher is unmoved. "I shall remain. The Lord will see me through."
After a while the levee breaks, and the flood rushes over the church until only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is up there, clinging to the cross, when a helicopter descends out of the clouds, and a state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone.
"Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance."
Once again, the preacher insists the Lord will deliver him.
And, predictably, he drowns.
A pious man, the preacher goes to heaven. After a while he gets an interview with God, and he asks the Almighty, "Lord, I had unwavering faith in you. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?"
God shakes his head. "What did you want from me? I sent you two boats and a helicopter."
Stop taking the piss. You know I mean adult citizens of a free nation, captain pedantic.
But that's not obvious nor it is where to put the threshold. Because we don't actually think that right is universal, we still apply a small modicum of filtering to the franchise.
There is no obvious reason why a non-citizen can't vote inherently. It's a choice to exclude those people. Same as it was when we excluded people without property or women.
Same as it is not obvious whether to strip voting rights from criminals or not. Some first world liberal democracies do, many don't.
I typically stay out of immigration debates in other countries and by extension the US one, because a) I don't really think it is any of my business as a foreigner b) There will simply be too many nuances I miss.
Don’t worry I agree .
But it’s more about how they don’t seem to understand those immigrants helps a lot for keeping prices low .
They always complain about inflation and high prices ,
then they complain about them , as if they would jump at this opportunity to take their places shrug .
They keep saying they steal jobs but in reality the majority of jobs « they steal » is jobs Americans would spit upon in the first place .
Fwiw pretty much the same thing in Canada shrug

1. This is called The Sklansky Solution. (Would apply to both voters and candidates.)
2. Unclear whether the GOP or the Dems would benefit from such tests. Probably a wash imo.

If housing is abudant then the case of immigrants helping prices low can be made i guess.
But where it isn't and the housing stock can't be rapidly expanded to accomodate them because of regulatory reasons (or physical lack of space like in some very small countries), and housing is a huge portion of the inflation index (in the USA it is close to 40% of *all prices* for CPI), then lol at the notion.
Btw you cannot claim they keep prices lower than otherwise without claiming they lower wages. It's either their presence doesn't lower wages, then it doesn't lower prices, or it does lower wages and that's how the prices of goods and services provided by immigrants are lower than otherwise.
This message has been brought to you by: the people who stand to lose the most money if the farce is revealed. It has been more than 25 years since Al Gore famously declared the end of civilization as we know it if we didn't immediately stop what we were doing. Surely everyone remembers the grand predictions of what the world would look like in 2010.How'd that turn out?
"Scientists (of whom Al Gore is not) are wrong sometimes, therefore we should ignore their mountains of data demonstrating that a point-of-no-return is coming fast (assuming it's not already here), AND the mountains of data detailing the climate-change problems people are having RIGHT NOW" -Ins0, creationist (paraphrased)
I knew that there were a few of you left. Wasn't sure how many were on this particular forum. I suppose you all think it's a coincidence that this is the hottest year in modern times, followed by the year before, followed by the year before*. I mean, maybe God did it, not billions of humans emitting countless tons of pollutants in the air (?)
Yeah, maybe technology will save us, it's certainly possible, but I don't think relying upon some future deus ex supergenius is sound public policy.
And if said supergenius is already alive, they're probably about to get paid 20 million dollars by Elon to make his rocket ships to Mars more efficient or something, and oops, the genius is sitting on too thick of a mountain of money to bother with climate activism and unpleasant stuff like that. You were saying something about economic factors, do they only work the one way?
*literally. 2023 was the hottest year on record, until 2024 rolled around. This is documented. Weird coincidence. Let's forget all this and talk more about what Al Gore said in the 90s or whatever

About just out an efficient education system that doesnt cost insane amount of money that already exist elsewhere ?
And promote intelligence instead of promoting alpha testosterone idiots ?
Democracy efficience is just corrolated with how smart and informed his citizen are
Man-made climate change is ALREADY ****ing up people in Southeast Asia, a continually increasing number of natural catastrophes are already hitting places like Bangladesh, Philippines*, etc., but I can't imagine Inso's Twitter feed is very focused on in those "random" countries
*and, also, west-central Florida, the place to which I very intelligently moved a couple of years ago; apparently there has been a significant uptake in the quantity of hurricanes forming in the Gulf over the past x years in a way that is not readily explained by natural climate change

"I believe that a 900 year old dude with a big houseboat saved all the winged elephants but had to clip their wings because it says it in this 2,000 year old book, but I don't believe what the scientists of the last 30 years are telling me. I am a very smart guy." - Inso0
Do said tests for leadership roles instead...

It's extremely obvious what I meant and you never admit when you're wrong anyway, Mr Blocking bridges=leftist terrorism worse than any other.

I know .
I never claim the contrary .
That was the point about keeping prices (inflation) low , which isnt just about house prices .
I have to confess that the fact that Sklansky is the only other person ITF who agrees that this is even a good idea certainly gives me pause for thought. Sklansky is one of those people that I think "if I have something in common with that guy, I should probably ask myself some pretty probing questions".
You should realise it's a really bsd idea in it's own right. You dont need DS to help you.
1. This is called The Sklansky Solution. (Would apply to both voters and candidates.)
I didn't know that. Fits well, as Sklansky is a reactionary creep with a pathological obsession with IQ tests and academic credentials at the expense of treating humans with basic dignity.

I'm here for all of that, but there will STILL remain a huge swath of the populace which is uninformed, incurious, and susceptible to the charms of "alpha testosterone idiots". What's to be done about them?
How about weighing votes based on how much Income Tax one pays?
"He who pays the piper calls the tunes."

First, no, the people making a living getting you riled up about the climate are not the same people developing new energy tech. The former make it harder for the latter to do their jobs specifically because people erroneously put them in the same camp. Shame on you for being part of that image problem.
Second, that's a terrible analogy because for it to work, the entire earth would need to be the ground the preacher is standing on. I fully acknowledge that some people with prime waterfront property are going to be quite sad when the coastlines swallow up their vacation homes and the beach moves. I also acknowledge that some people running billion dollar agriculture empires are going to be sad when conditions change and a different part of the planet becomes the new ideal for their specific business.
Both of these things have been happening since the dawn of time and it's idiotic and arrogant to think that humanity can lock the earth in some sort of time-freeze by shaming people for driving cars or using too much toilet paper.
Climate change alarmism is possibly the best example of a first world problem to ever exist.
I'm glad that we have non-conformists like Trump who don't allow it to control the national narrative, particularly when you have countries like China and India actively refusing to play the same game.
Rare Trump W.

You're a ****ing idiot. I'll let others elaborate.
