PardoG's 30th Trip to Vegas (20th to the WSOP)
Hello.....is there anybody out there? We are heading back to the WSOP (6/8-6/15)
Been in these streets since the early 20
Ok everyone. I got it. We HATE the AJ hand lol. I really do have to go back and do a strat post on it/run it through some cash game players who are MUCH better than me. I guess I just can't see folding AJo even in the small blind six handed in a 1/3 NL game, and maybe I'm stubborn that Raise>Call>Fold six handed at these stack depths and in these conditions. I could for sure be a big leak, and I'm sure I have others. I also would say I'm not raising 100% of the time here. We are of course also flatting and occasionally folding maybe to an old man coffee type who hasn't played a hand in three hours but not against a guy opening things like Q10o, K9ss, KJo, QJo ec etc from early position in this game.
Day 6 updated trip totals:
Poker Cash: -$2,735 (lol first time in the negative in the cash games out here on a trip in a LONGGGG Time - more on that later)
Tournament: +$12,959
Pit/Sports Bets/Nonsense: -$2916
Through Six Full Days:
+7,308
OkOK Leggoooo! One more Day people. Tournament recap/other thoughts coming also soon......
Congratulations on the spectacular results.
Nice score [emoji857]

Heck yeah, nice bink! Save some of Vegas' money for the rest of us!
Congrats on the flags!
We are currently at Bellagio waiting for 2/5 and so I figured Iβd recap a few things from yesterday and alsoβ¦.A HAND history. I thought it was a fairly interesting spot from 2/5NL last night so I figure Iβll post it and weβll see what you think. So yesterday, after we book a win at resorts world 1:3, we watch the oilers come back and give us a nice value on our 400 dollar bet (
3 bet to 105-110 if youβre going to go with this. But I prefer a fold
I donβt mind turn bet although I would probably pot it. You kind of have to call the raise which is annoying.
River is annoying but perhaps you have to call with pot odds.
Day 7
I think the title for Day 7, should have just been "Out of Gas in Las Vegas". Man, was I wiped after the deep tourney run combined with overall lack of regular and consistent sleep building up over the course of the week and it finally all kind of caught up with me.
I decided to grab breakfast quickly at the cafe, and then I headed to the gym for another long uphill walk on the treadmill, followed by using the spa services again. That was a very good decision as I felt much better after all of that albeit still tired. I decided I was up for the first cash session of the day and I jumped on the 1/3 NL list at WynnCore. On the way over, we put 200 dollars on the Devil's wheel, 8 numbers, $25 each, and we hit Black 17 for a nice $875 hit. We take that, and we go put $400 on the oilers game so we can have a sweat for game 5 of the final. Of course no spoilers here, we would later find out that this move was just lighting $400 on fire lol. oh well.
The 1/3NL game wasn't great, but man can you tell the difference in game quality beginning thursday of every week compared to Sunday-Wednesday. Much more action, more multiway pots, more spots etc. We end up racking a small win of $125 dollars in about 3 hours with the profit coming from us running a big bluff on a nice business lady who ended up folding an 8 on a JJ885x board.
We then go grab a nice new pair of sneakers we have had our eye on for awhile at Amiri. It's ridiculous to spend 800 dollars on sneakers, I know this, but I am who I am. lol. plus. don't forget, I could easily blow that in 10 minutes on a roulette wheel, or blackjack table or otherwise so at least i'm getting something for it. Now at least my wife got something, and I got something tangible to bring home and that will certainly conclude the shopping for this trip.
Following that, we hit up Tacos El Gordo for lunch - I forgot to take a pic - sorry but I know they have been memorialized here many a time so hopefully all is forgiven.
After that we head back to the room for what I hope will be a decent nap, and it turns into us sleeping for 5 hours lol and waking up around 6PM. We now have decisions to make. We can either fire the tournament one more time, or we can grind cash etc. As bad as I want that trophy, I'm really not feeling my best, and is that how i want to spend my last night here knowing the cash game action, especially PLO will be best of the trip tonight?.........
First we decide we need to eat. I donβt have much of a sweet tooth, but once in awhile I like to indulge. I decide coffee and gelato after waking up from our 5 hour slumber will be the early evening breakfast of champions before we go back to battle.
We enjoy the mint chocolate which is outstanding, and a nice coffee to go with it. It really hits the spot.
9/10

Here are my new sneakers referenced in the aforementioned above post. They are super comfortable.

From there, we head to PLO which thankfully is signed up for as soon as I woke up and checked in immediately so by the time we actually got there, we had a chance to get into one of the four main games. The poker room at encore was an absolute zoo last night. Loved it.
We jump into PLO for 800, and we grind our way to a win of about 950.

During the cash game, my mind drifts back and forth to late registering the 1100. I really am very tempted. As you know, when you are running good in tournies, and you feel on top of your tourney game, you want to keep playing. Let's also not forget we want that trophy so bad! Another final table would make 3 in week, that would be quite an achievement. In the end, I decide it's not a good idea. I don't think my body or mind can do the full grind, especially on a dinner of gelato and coffee lol.
So, we decide to rack up our win, and then we gather up the energy to take a really nice evening walk down the strip to the Linq for good old IN AND OUT Burger. These days, In and Out doesn't blow me away like it used to when I was younger and in my twenties, and now with other options like Shakeshack, Smashburger, Five Guys etc, there are a lot of really good fast food burger chains out there, but I think In and Out still has that special and unique feel as the OG of higher quality fast food burger chains.
We hit our Double Double and fries and we come back to the room. It's now getting kind of late, and with In and Out in the cat's system, heading back to grind more cash seems completely impossible. It is our last night, and it's only 1030 ish. The room is still BUZZIN, but I am only a cat, and cats must sleep.
We crawl back into bed hoping to sleep 2-3 hours, then to wake up and play the graveyard shift till morning when we have to pack........
Nice shoes! Where did you buy these?
Looks like for the NHL game I would go with over 6/6.5. As all the games are high scoring!
that's an expensive pair of Sneakers but yep...totally agree that in our gambling lives, an expensive item of something tangible can be rock solid value compared to busted mtt or degen 'investments'

Bought them at the Amiri Outlet in the Encore. Amiri is a California brand, I like some of there stuff. I am happy with the purchase. Nice to get SOMETHING tangible for all that gamble π
Day 7 (Part 2)
So we wake up (albeit later than we want around 3am) and we rush downstairs to try to catch the tail end of any PLO degeneracy we can. Game is on it's last legs but we hop in anyway and we score a couple small pots and we manage to take a bomb pot that no one wants to fight for when we have half of it locked up and we pot it from early position. The game breaks and we are up 310 somehow in one of the quickest/easiest sessions of the trip (nice to finally have one of those) and then we sit 1/3 NL for another couple of hours until Jardin opens for breakfast. 1/3 was medicore but we grind out a modest 105 dollar win for a decent morning to end the night/day.
We head over to Jardin and grab a green machine juice and a steak salad for breakfast.
We end up degen'ing video poker with the rest of our green juice and we actually win 80 dollars (lol) and we decide we want to lock that up and we cash out.
We had back to the room to pack up. It's now Day 8 and our flight leaves in a bit. I'm honestly exhausted and ready to go home. This was an odd trip and I'll write a recap with my final thoughts in a bit....but for now, here are the updated totals for the whole trip. I made a mistake on the tourney piece, I actually was in the positive larger than I first calculated. Other than that....here it is:
Poker Cash: $-2300 (yuck - first negative cash trip during WSOP in I can't even remember)
Poker Tourney: $14,500 ($16,100 in cashes, $1600 in buy ins -thrilled of course. Still not over not winning and the TT hand at the final table. I'm almost ready to post it. ALMOST)
Pit/Sports Bets: -$3,300 (dumb dumb dumb but fun fun fun lol)
Trip Totals: +$8,900 Let's go!!!!
Another WSOP trip in the books in black......
Oh crap take $1500 off the tournament count for the super turbo bounty entry. I knew I forgot something.! Either way still a great week
Still a really nice, profitable trip! Well done
Well done!
Great job!
Those sneakers are FIRE
Congrats on a great trip! Clearly the Wynn is no match for you.
Now that the hendon mob results are up for my 5th place finish at the Wynn, I went and checked out the pages of my fell final table players.....nearly 7M in live cashes at the final table combined! Lol. The guy to my direct left had 2.5M in tournament cashes. Another player at the table had 2.9M, another 1.2M etc. Shark infested waters my friends!
That's a nice confidence booster. Thomas Eychenne (9th place finisher) has already cashed two $25k events at the WSOP this summer.
The Wynn is the toughest room in Vegas for tournaments.

always best not to know in advance I think.

Yep - he was on my direct left at the FT, and the eventual winner was on my left majority of the entire tournament as well.
