Soros is an evil person but he is not a radical leftist. He did promote ultra-radical left candidates and donated to their campaigns yes (most notably in the west coast at the local level). Why he did that, i don't personally know.
His candidates did promote violence (not prosecuting violent crime is promotion of violence).

Rep Hortman (Democrat-Farmer-Labor) seems to be of recent note mainly because a few days ago, as a former DFL House Speaker, she voted with House Republicans to repeal the '23 DFL bill that extended state healthcare to undocumented residents. That would not make her a hate figure or a target for the far right. The opposite, you'd think.
On the other hand, Sen Hoffman (DFL) does not seem to have been one of the DFL state senators who voted with the Republicans on the repeal, so the murderer's motive is unclear at this point.
Police do have the murderer's fake police car, which may help them trace the suspect (if the license plates are fake there's the VIN plate), and they say they also have the murderer's hit list, found in the vehicle, which may make the motive clearer, assuming there's any sane rationale to it at all.
