I think victor will see this as points in Trump’s favor, that he pretends to not want war while doing stuff that will obviously provoke wars, like retreating on the global stage (something victor probably also supports).
As I have been saying since before the election, be careful what you wish for re: a multipolar world. US has interest to keep things relatively peaceful, Israel has the opposite interest to strike while they have a military upper hand. They are deathly afraid for good reason of parity with them in the Middle East.

The two countries have 100 million people between the two of them so if thousands is all the deaths we see then that would be a pretty big win relatively.

The chance of Israel attacking Iran without being certain of the necessary increase in flow of equipment / weapons / ammunition / intelligence from the US strikes me as very low.
20 000 US missiles for intercepting drones were also diverted from Ukraine to the middle-east not long ago. Given this event, it seems likely the reason was an expectation of Iranian counterattacks, especially since these missiles are proven against Shahed drones, an Iranian weapon.
As for "would things be the same if"-debates are rather moot. We're not psychics, and the Trump administration has clearly issued the Netanyahu cabinet with an unprecedented carte blanche. As usual, it is difficult to peer beneath the layer of incompetence and media circus that surrounds Trump to figure out if there are any adults in the room.
