Two years ago over my way some addled migrant knifed three small kids at a school and as a result a bunch of bigoted thugs rioted and looted in Dublin, harassed and attacked normal migrants coming back from work and caused absolute chaos. It certainly wasn't a "protest" just like these LA riots aren't.

I don’t know what this is supposed to be doing either. I wholeheartedly condemn any violence or vandalism. That doesn’t change the criticisms that I made. So this seems like a nonsequitor to the issue of whether Trump’s policies are substantively different from Biden and Obama.

I believe the fashionable term is uprising. "Rioting" is bad. But an "uprising" is virtuous looting and burning.

I don't agree with the armed forces being used against citizens, even rioting ones. Rioting and looting was happening before the armed forces were deployed though, and as was already pointed out, they're not being used for crowd control anyway, so they've nobody to fight "back" against.

Theoretically the National Guard is there to protect a federal facility, which is lawful.

I don't see how deploying the Marines is lawful at all in this situation.
