Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn
Daniel was quite unhappy in today's vlog that he played the Dealer's Choice and everyone on the table picked a game variant he disliked. I mean, isnt that the point of Dealer's Choice? To play variants that some of the players on the table arent that good in and exploit that fact?
Especially after he said that he picks PLO every time while deep! That was some serious crybaby action. What does he think, they're going to pick razz or stud 8 so he can survive?
Mods need to come in and delete some of these posts about Amanda.
Itβs fine for the Daniel bashing re his play and other stuff in this thread but those re Amanda are crossing the line.
haven't seen that but unless it's stuff that would get people banned normally like posting rape or murder fantasies i think discussion of her is on the table because she's a big part of the vlog and they choose to put themselves out there together
she's also a media personality previously so it's not like she as a single person or as daniel's spouse has ever shied away from being in the spotlight

Yeah, the big stacks should pick PLO or PL 2-7 triple draw to pressure and bust the short stacks. The short stacks should pick O8 or stud 8, badeucy or badacy, as a limit split pot game makes it easier to survive.
When World won it last year he said he picked stud every time because most people play it so badly now.
Yeah, pretty bad whinge from Dan, like Pete Rose complaining he didnβt get grooved one to keep his hit streak going way back when.

I saw the Pete Rose HBO thing that came out last year. It's funny he defended wrecking the catcher on a play at the plate in an all star game but then complained that they pitched him like it was the 7th game of the WS in a blowout to end his hitting streak.
Dnegs complaining about people picking which game makes the most sense for them at that time is really weak.

Had to refresh my memory. 1978 not 1977 like I always thought. Braves were up 16-4 which really torqued Rose. Garber replied Rose was batting like it was the 7th game of WS.
Game was Tuesday 8/1/78 night game in ATL. We lived in SLC, no cable, but the networks were showing all his at bats by then. He was a huge star then, maybe second behind Ali. I was 12yo, lost a lot of respect for him that night. My mom never liked him, always called him a horse’s ass.
There’s a lot more rabbit hole stuff I could post about that streak, as with any baseball thing, but I’ll stop.
The hate in this thread is quite telling.
I did wonder who these people were who spend all their time wating for the latest vlog to drop. I get home from work about 10 minutes after the vlog appears on YouTune and rewind back to the beginning and see there's 200+ viewing already.
It's you lot, isn't it. Hating some much, but loving to watch.
Yes, welcome to the World. I also watched the latest OJ documentary even though Iβm not a huge fan.
The vlog has been a gold mine for haters for years so why not to watch. I skip all the home and hotel stuff but I like to watch the table parts and get some of that WSOP vibe. I also like to see him crying about his βbad beatsβ and itβs valuable to see how a PLO whale thinks. βPLO is not a preflop gameβ has been my favorite this year.
Itβs very important to keep your finger on skip 10 seconds button at all times because this fcker can start singing or do something else rtarded at any point.
I usually pick badeucy in dealers choice, because there are more mistakes people can make, drawing mistakes, etc.
DN may be a PLO donk, but he has one several $5K and higher buyin PLO tournaments.
I can't watch those vlogs. Don't care about his personal life, and not much strategy in them. They seem aimed at the donks GG is trying to lure in.

Id argue different. PLO allows the short stacks a lot super +ev spots with a lot of their range. Sure, they get put all in at risk quicker, but they also have easy opportunities to get more than double ups with a ton of equity. In split games, the short stack has a hard time getting out of the short stack zone and will get blinded down eventually which is what happened to DNegs as everyone picked Badeucy.
Just surviving isnt that useful when youre short - the goal of surviving on a short stack is to eventually get that clear +ev spot where you have a high chance to double up but those spots hardly come around in split pot games.

I'm no tournament expert but if you're short close to the money wouldn't you want your table to have some limit split pot game and ideally all other tables on plo so short stacks on the other tables bust?
In NL these days close to the bubble we see how tight the shorter stacks play. They aren't in there trying to yolo it up and double on flips.
Why do you guys even care so much about Daniel. I pop in this thread once every
3 months just so see all you turkey brains loving or hating Daniel.
100 million poker players on earth says google. trust me there is zero chance
Daniel is in the top 100. ZERO ZERO ZERO
When I watch anything with daniel I see a child. Massively overpaid child who
has been one of the luckiest people on the planet.
Talks like a politician. Which is a massive insult. Even Phil Hellmuth is right when he
says Daniel is just like a politician.
Wish I could challenge Daniel to everything on this planet and bet lives on it.
I have to wonder how you Daniel lovers would feel finding out Daniel sucks balls
Like, real balls?
I think a lot of people think that's true

Daniel is absolutely one of the top 100 poker players in the world when you factor in his skill at all poker games. There are less than 100 people who even enter most of the $10k WSOP tournaments. The vast majority of professional poker players have no idea how to play 90% of poker variants.

Bet lives? Like, somebody really like dies if they lose, like in that one movie?
Well, whatβs stopping you from challenging him?

Okay this explains alot then.
You are dellusional. ****.
awesome basically the world is ****ed.
Daniel couldn't compete with the top 100 in the world in any game.
I promise you that. He is not even close to being smart enough.
Were so ****ed that your perception of him is this bad.
Why the **** you think he avoids challenges like beating 1-2 online.
You have any idea how easy that would be for someone who is top 100
to smash 1-2.
My God man Daniel had like 3 losing WSOP in a row. I know he makes excuses.
Yes variance exists. But some of Daniels results are impossible for someone who
is top 100. That cannot happen if he was good enough.
I'm going to have to smash Daniel myself and end this.

He hasn't been a poker pro in probably 15 years. His entitlement does get annoying. But he's crushing life.
Why the hell would he waste his time doing something as mind numbingly torturous as grinding 1/2 nl online?
Sure anyone who think he's still some crusher doesn't understand poker but even that makes more sense than playing 1/2 nl.

Mostly this. No upside for him to take a challenge like that. He loses then it's all, see he sucks, could hurt his "brand"/sponsorships. He wins, the most likely response will be, he ran good and got lucky.
The doug polk challenge a while ago, that makes sense, there's no downside. Nobody was going to say, see Daniel sucks, he can't beat polk heads up. Very few could. It's all upside if he had won that though.

Good point. Are there really other games than NL and maybe PLO?
SΓΆkΓΆ.

I dont think you have a choice though. If you are low and everyone on your table are choosing split games and youre just being fd with very low chance of ever chipping up.. Im pretty sure youd prefer the chance of doubling in PLO than playing split games.
Of course if the other tables are playing high variance big bet games like PLO its a different situation - great for you - and you dont mind just surviving forever in split games on a short stack while people are gambling and busting on the other tables. But I doubt thats going to be the case. If there are stacks shorter than yours and its close to the bubble, you have 0 reason to call PLO and gamble it up on your table. So its really only the biggest stacks on any table that are likely to pick PLO and everyone else will choose low variance games. So as a short stack, you wont be in that situation where the other tables are gambling and you can pick a split game to just survive into the money.
I dont think Daniel would beat 1/2 NL online but even so, the argument "he doesnt want to take on a 1/2 NL challenge so he sucks" is moronic.
Why the f would a high roller player waste time on a challenge like that where variance is likely to decide the outcome unless he plays a full time job over months amount of hands...

If you are low, limit split pot games are better because you want to hang in there to move up in places. The big stacks can put more pressure on you in PLO. There are ICM issues. You want to stay in the tournament in later stages, not gamble for a bigger stack or go home.
When short close to the bubble survival really is almost the only thing. The reason is of course the massive difference in payout between zero vs mincash. Guess split games at least slows down the play, which is super when not wanting to get blinded and anted out.
