President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

If you hear voices it's padded cell time, unless that voice is "god" in which case you get put in charge of important stuff. Makes perfect sense.

Mike Johnson is one of the few people in Congress I actually believe believes this skybeam horseshit

This is the same guy whose son gets text notifications if he ever watches porn and vice Versa

Trump Thinks It Was ‘Stupid’
Not to Cash in Harder on His First Term.

He’s Making Up for It.

he’s making the world safe for corruption

Unless god is telling you to go out and kill people, then it’s padded cell time again. Oh, unless those people are civilians in other countries, then you can be in charge of foreign policy.

Gods on his side and so is Washington

Well since God can be anything you want it to be, it would be weird if he were on the opposing team.

Speaking as a devout satanist I'm not sure I agree

I’ll be honest, that’s one thing I never “got” about spiritual experiences. I can understand feeling some kind of connection to a higher power, but to claim direct communication such that there is clear semantic content seems unbelievable to me.

If Dota2 has taught me nothing, it's that Russians will troll people for free for extended periods of time as long as you give them some fake points to hold over peoples' heads.

In fact, Russia can probably buy entire warehouses full of online trolls and misinformation spreaders just by purchasing some $0.11 cosmetics to hand out as a prize for the top posters.

CYKA BLYAT

There is serious money going into Russia's online operations, generally split into operations to create chaos, operations to pay / blackmail, operations to sabotage infrastructure, operations to steal and operations to influence. They also spend enormous amounts of money on censorship systems used domestically and on their state media.

In the west, attacked countries are essentially doing nothing in return. We're "fighting" back with sternly worded letters and some miniscule research grants that will likely take 5-10 years to get absolutely nowhere. At best they will generate a handful of PhD-candidates who will write opinion pieces nobody reads in media nobody cares about about.

How much you think it costs to run a troll farm?

Cause as InsO pointed out, you can get people to grind video games for 20 hrs a day for like two bucks an hour. Not like it’s hard to do. Can probably pump out some KrazyKamala videos on the side while you’re queuing low prio to get some guy out of ban land for using the N word too much.

And the most skilled people at making money and taking power in the USA are all naive to that and cannot fund troll farms themselves with the vastly higher resources they dedicate to control the political narrative because... reasons.

Your model is predicated on the idea that the most cut-throat, high IQ, selfish rational people in the USA (all the succesful billionaires who donate for political causes and their highly skilled counsel) with tens of billions per year at their disposal to control the narrative, are all collectively outplayed by Putin spending hundreds of millions on troll farms.

I just don't buy the idea that Putin, with far less resources than them, has more influence on our societies than the Griffin and the Koch and the Gates and the Soros and the other 50-100 individuals (with their highly skilled teams) that want to shape the narrative.

Do you realize that google slightly tweaking it's search algos has more influence on our societies than russia would have even if every single russian citizens became a worker in a troll farm?

I've known these types before. They don't hear an actual audible voice; they "pray" on something until they have convinced themselves they are doing the righteous thing.

For example, in college I knew a grad student whose wife was expecting twins. Then a few weeks before she was due, he fell in love someone else. A true soulmate. Everyone told him you can't leave your wife of 5 years who is carrying your kids for some chick you just met.

He was "receptive" to this, and ended with he's going to pray real hard on it and see what God tells him to do. After a week of this, God made his decision and told him to leave his wife for some new ass.

Now that was the worst case, but in every case I've ever heard of someone praying about a difficult decision - every - single - time - the "Lord" told that person to go with the more douchey option.

This is just what religious narcissistic people do. It's like Johnson trying to say, "What, me? No. I didn't want this - the Lord wanted it."

Now in fairness to the Lord and the grad student, last I heard from a friend some years back, that keeps in touch with this guy, was that they were still together after 20 years. His first wife who had to raise the twins on her own kind of has some different feelings about it, though.

It's unfair to lose your healthcare when you were just voting for the racism

I mean, there was that one guy who invaded a whole country after god told him to do it, about 20 years or so ago now. Also a republican, go figure.

Invariably and necessarily, people who claim to be talking to 'God' are talking to themselves.

Either you're ignorant of what some key words in your sentence actually mean, or you are trolling, or you are just a dum-dum.

Of course, I'm not in any position to know which of those three things is the actual state-of-affairs.

That’s horrible, and I highly doubt God would approve of that since He seemed really insistent on no divorce in the New Testament, but what do I know?

I used to think it was this by the way, but I have a strong suspicion that certain sects of Christianity really do convince themselves they are talking directly to God.

Indulge us, what did he say that was incorrect?

I'm happy to hear any proof or evidence that isn't vague hearsay you have that 'talking to God' results in God really talking back.

Deaf to it, no?

"The Lord talks to us in many ways".

Mostly through His Holiest Holiness Saint Trump, his earthly messenger.
