unless they changed the rule, it's fine to taunt the crowd?

Now that I think about it, I believe that this is consistent with past practice. Certain celebrations will get you a fine, in particular a gun or throat slitting celebration or overtly sexual stuff, but I don't think they usually result in techs unless directed to an opposing player.

Really bad play from Hart with 30 seconds left in overtime. Gets caught staring at the ball and lets Nemby cut right beneath him for the game winning layup

by King~of~Diamonds

Robinson also nowhere to be found as he’s caught staring at his own man in the corner

Because they're gassed. Thats the point. The Cavs looked worse and worse as the games went on. You just can't run at an NBA pace in addition to being pressed for >50% of possessions and still have the energy to cover back cuts in OT

"The "Dikembe Mutombo rule" refers to a situation where an NBA player is penalized for taunting an opposing player, but it is not penalized when the taunt is directed towards the crowd. Specifically, the rule was changed to prohibit players from taunting directly in front of an opponent, but it's still acceptable to gesture or celebrate towards the fans. Mutombo's finger wag was a famous example of this, and it was often directed towards the crowd rather than an individual player. "

Yep. If one wants to say that tonight's game was the greatest playoff game ever I'm fine with that. It deserves THAT kind've consideration. But the greatest choke job ever is still without a doubt that Pacers-Knicks game where Reggie hits two 3's in the final seconds. Allowing the Reggie part to happen was all time choke status in itself but then you combine that with Stark

Best part is someone on Indiana still thinking they're down 1, fouling starks on purpose and he misses both.

lol totally forgot about that, amazing

Could Towns have punched it into the basket?

In theory, yes. Would've been the single most longshot play in the history of sports probably.

"No, striking the ball with your fist or kicking it is a violation in the NBA and basketball in general. This is a violation and results in the ball being awarded to the opposing team. The rule against punching or kicking the ball is in place to prevent injury and ensure fair play, as it could easily lead to a melee if players were allowed to strike the ball with their fists. "

You gotta volleyball it at 0.2 or 0.3..which across court with a basketball would be hard. Gotta get someone to set it like a volleyball and pray no one expects it and stands in front of you when you do it.

But apparently you can't punch it. Learned that on reddit

Luckier imo. I can't remember seeing a luckier bounce off the rim in the NBA this entire year. If I shot threes for an hour a day in a gym for an entire year, I certainly wouldn't expect to see a single one that bounced two feet above the backboard and fell in.

Yea you’re right. That was some end of Happy Gilmore type ****.

P.S. I can’t wait for Happy Gilmore 2! (Netflix in July)

Watched the game on D+1 as usual and honestly couldn't believe what I was watching

should have done this imo

The fact that it looked close is ridiculous. That's something he's definitely ****ed around and tried out before.

I don't know if you can 2 hand volleyball it that far..basketballs are heavy!

Maybe that's the natural volley ball motion anyway..gotta touch and launch all in one arm motion.

There is only one Jokic.

I just found out the pacers hit 6 threes in a row. That's pretty crazy.

Yea nothing compares to that shot. The Don Nelson shot in the 60s that enabled the Celts to beat the Lakers in game 7 comes to mind but it's still not even close. 1) It wasn't a game winner/tie at the buzzer and 2) it didn't go a mile in the air like Haliburton's.

The other funny part is Mason saying Greg Anthony was wide open. Bro what drugs are you on. Dude was draped.

Twolves 101 OKC 97

Haliburton is turning into a living legend right before our eyes

He's a POS as far as I'm concerned. I hope the Knicks bring up a goon to take him out. What a punk!

Is that real? How is that even possible?

randle finally back to earth

OKC huge favs to win it all now

OKC in 3.

lol Randle you suck, that's why the Knicks didn't pay you and why no one will pay you what you want this offseason.

Pacers will beat OKC, somehow, someway.

Haliburton is UNREAL

Where was that Randle against the Warriors?

Nah. I was honestly too blinded earlier by my desire to see Jokic win MVP, but we're witnessing the second coming. Get ready to change the title of the GOAT thread.

👍 reminds me of a quote I heard at the Texas Station in North Las Vegas (RIP) circa 2001 with a bunch of Black guys arguing with each other about college football ....the quote was "Money is my favorite team!"

still sticks with me today and is still clearly true

In his book, Slim said something like “my favorite team is the team playing your favorite team”.
