lucky he was only there for 2 weeks. Ive been in there for 2 months. some people have been there for 7 months. Years ago he would of never got out. Places like Japan I believe it still goes on.

Mental health lawyer here with lived experience in a psychiatric hospital. If the system in the UK is anything like in my state in the US, Tom was held temporarily under a law authorizing short-term holds for emergency stabilization of people in stages of acute decompensation. Once the hospital believes he’s no longer at risk, they let him go as happened here.
It can be a rattling experience for anyone who is used to their freedom to suddenly be held in captivity surrounded by other sick people in various stages of psychological distress. It can also be difficult to grapple with the idea that there may be something wrong with your brain. All this happening at once, compounded by whatever psychiatric symptoms the person is experiencing like delusions and paranoia, can cause a lot of stress.
All this is to say Tom is going through a tough time and people should respond with empathy. He’s a brilliant poker player who did a lot for the game and he deserves respect and compassion. If it happened to him it can happen to any one of us too.
One could also say his mental breakdown is pretty mild mannered

Assuming this is true, wonder how much was brought on by being celebrated as a poker god back in day. I mean people think they are geniuses simply because they create a 2+2 account. And generally speaking poker players seem to have an inflated ego often looking down on successful businessmen because they may have overplayed KJ or something like that.

A friend had a simular reaction to a fake pressed meth "adderal" pill . He was solo crossing the Pacific. Three or four days in and sleep deprived, decided to pop a pill and proceded to lose his ****. He had a delusion marina employees strapped kilos to the bottom of his boat.
Obviously he had go inspect the bottom in the middle of the passage.
Side note, the odds Dwan wasn't at least contacted by "state department" officals for intel while playing in ML'ing games with CCP/ OC are really low.

Never said he was. Stop making stuff up. It is clear that Tom had a psycotic phase the second he believed he had a broken hand and punctured lung, when in reality that wasn't the case.
And that will also be his way out of it, because he won't be able to deny that fact.
But at the same time it is not clear if someone, potentially drugged him which could have caused this phase.
