Citi Field gets another boost, State Assembly has voted to alienate the city parkland needed for the proposal to move forward. Just needs the State Senate bill to pass in the next 6 weeks and all barriers are more or less removed for the proposal. Still no guarantee but definitely feels like Uncle Stevie's race to lose

Well, there's still the Community Advisory Committee stage.
Adams' rep will presumably rubber-stamp anybody who's paid him enough, but that's only one vote out of the necessary four. (Governor, mayor, senator, assembly member, borough president and council member are the six who appoint reps to each CAC in the city. Westchester/LI it's only five.)

Has anyone been to NYC Poker Clubs lately?

Wynn/Hudson yards is out. If RW and EC are shoe ins as expected, it’s Times Square, Hells Kitchen, or CitiField for the third license, and feels like CitiField is the front runner

The same opposition for Hudson yards probably gonna oppose any manhattan location.

It’s going to be so tilting if both NYC casinos are in Queens.

The sweepstakes casino ban still hasn’t made it out of committee in the State Assembly and we’re getting close to the end of the legislative session. Starting to get cautiously optimistic it won’t pass.

State senate approved parkland alienation bill for CitiField.

Also VGW is already pulling out of NY with or without the sweepstakes bill passing. I’d say it’s a safe assumption it’s club apps and ACR or nothing until we eventually get legalized online

In pushing for legalizing online poker our options still just keep shrinking. Yuck.

I am going to try to stay optimistic that Club WPT Gold stayg in NY if the bill doesn't pass...Global Poker pulled out of Nevada and Club WPT is still there at least.

Did i misremember or are license applications supposed to be due in a couple of weeks?

“While three licences are on the table, the commission is not required to award all of them. It may choose to approve fewer—or none—depending on the outcome of the full review.“

I haven’t explicitly heard this language anywhere else up to this point. Idk that it means anything but it’s enough to make me uncomfortable for a few days 🤣

It's there in the law that kicked all this off: "The commission is authorized to award up to three additional gaming facility licenses."

I dont see them not giving out the 3

Presumably there's pressure to get that $1.5 billion in the state's bank.

But still I could see licensing two and leaving a third open to reconsider in 6–12 months, or maybe giving a couple finalists for it an additional stretch to flesh out. Despite all the time they've taken about it, there's still a lot about the fresh-built proposals that they're having to solidify on a short timeline. The whole "get all the approvals necessary to build before we say if you'll be allowed to build" thing is a little weird, especially since most of the proposals aren't going be built in any form without a casino license.

Oh dragging it out is to be expected. But saying we will give one license out and let the other two wither seems unlikely to me. Another possibility is if they wanna stretch their money out is granting three other casinos the licenses and leaving yonkers and resorts world with their current situation. Dont know the optics of that but in theory would be more money for ny in the long term
