My hats off to players who participate in this tournament.
I don’t even know how to play 90% of the 22 poker variation listed !!
No-Limit Hold'em; Limit Hold'em; Razz; Seven Card Stud; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Regular; Pot-Limit Hold'em; Pot-Limit Omaha; Pot-Limit Omaha Fi-Lo 8 or Better; Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw; Big 0; Limit Omaha High; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Limit 2-7
Lowball Triple Draw; Ace to 5 Lowball Triple Draw; Badugi; Badeucy; Badacy; No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw; No-Limit 5-Card Draw High; 2-7 Razz.
WOW
2-7 Razz ? Never played it that way but should be interesting. A stud version of 2-7
Although I can play all the games, for me itβs too many games to choose from. Iβll probably skip this event.

What is the different between "Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better" and "Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Regular"
In the former case, a low hand must be 8 or better to qualify at all. If no-one has a qualifying low hand then the entire pot is awarded to the high hand
In βRegularβ, half the pot is awarded to the best low hand regardless, even if an 8 or better has not been achieved.
7cs Hi/lo (no qualifier) would be MUCH clearer....
I played this a couple of years ago and made day 2. In later stages, they tend to pick the 5 card draw game because alot of people really don’t know how to play it and it forces big blind antes.
Big O is 5 card pot limit hilo.
There are so many mixed games not represented, some probably due to how long they take to play or how absolutely ridiculous they are.
Triple 7
Badugi hi/lo (there is no nut-nut hand)
Pineapple stud-8 roll-your-own
NL Omaha 8
I could continue with like 10 more games; Games we regularly play at 3/6 stakes at TCH Westheimer Friday nights.
This has got to be a fun event. But I'd argue it's not a true dealer's choice if you can't call a game, clearly explain it and play.
I'd play this if my schedule permitted. And I'd be prepared to play badacy on day 2; I hear that's what most pros are picking because they have an edge.

The gaming commission would never allow a "true dealer's choice" that you describe. It would also be a disaster trying to explain games on the fly. Your mix game sounds fun, though.
FWIW, I've made day 2 of this for the last couple of years and day 2 game selection is really all over the board. 7 card stud hi/lo regular seems popular. Badeuce/badace also popular. A lot more limit games get called on day 2 then on day 1 in my experience.
NLOmahaHL, the pros (I would barely dare call myself one) will pick whatever game is more appropriate for the table setup. This includes the players at their table (their strengths and weaknesses) and perhaps even more important everyone's stack and ICM considerations in day 2 (bubble play etc.)
Some situations for example: if you are a short-stack and close to the bubble you'll pick a split game that has no antes like LO8 or Badeucy/Badecy since they go 3 streets/river, split pots, take a lot of time, and there's no antes.
If you are a big stack close to the bubble with a bunch of short stacks you would probably pick a 1-winner game that allows no limit betting such as NLHE, NL 2-7 single draw, NL 5-card draw etc.
If it's day 1 and you notice players are bad at stud8 I'd pick stud regular they're probably going to be even worse. And so on. I doubt Badeucy is a automatic pick on day 2 in fact I've rarely seen it being picked on day 2 (I've made day 2 in this specific event a few times.)

This would not end well. While I love it for your cash game, and hope to play with you someday, it would be a nightmare for a bracelet event. You call a game, and an ambiguity arises. There is no clear-cut obvious answer. How can the floor give a fair ruling about a game they have never heard of before?
However, I do believe that the list of games to pick from could be expanded by at least double. No Archie, and not a single dramaha option in the mix! Ridiculous!

I would expect Archie to be next one in as it follows same dealing structure as Badeucey/ Badacey. Im not sure what type of approval process is necessary but it would seem easier
Plus with Dramaha (if itβs approved) the floor would be running around all day having to address how to complete the hand when dealing procedure got fouled up

Maybe you'd love some Dramabacc, lol.
I was being a bit overzealous with the "explain the game" bit.
Maybe they'll allow for a "submit-a-game" period in the future. Review submissions with the gaming board and expand the list.
The mix happens most Fridays depending on who busts the Maybem rebuy tournament.
Which game in the mix here do you think having the button would give you the biggest advantage?

Every poker game will have a significant advantage with the button, I suspect NL 2-7 Single Draw or NL 5 Card Draw will have the highest advantages with the button. PLO/PL 2-7 will also be right up there but people tighten up significantly during those games, the advantage becomes minimal (in fact people push the advantage so much they forget they're up against nutted ranges in that tournament.)

Those are just two streets
Itβs a big bet game with multiple streets and I put my vote in for the pl 27TD instead of plo or big o as the last card is hidden
Calling a game where the dealer has a positional advantage is irrelevant--a full orbit of each game is played once the game is called.
Yup, thanks Scotch, I understood the question I was asking, lol. I was asking to promote a discussion as I have only ventured into the mix game streets recently.
I was leaning towards the NL 2-7 Single draw as having the biggest edge for the dealer. The power to know whether or not to draw in certain circumstances in the single draw games cannot be replicated in the triple draw games (as easily). For example, EP open raises and you three bet (or jam all in) on the button with J5432. Now, if the EP calls all in and stands pat you have an easy break. If he draws one you can stand pat. Decisions are easy and you have an edge regardless of what your opponent does. Granted its one street (maybe two) of betting vs three or four in the PL varieties, but it can be for stacks. Also, if your opponents are playing properly in the PL varieties, they really shouldn't be giving much action out of position, so the pots, in theory, should be much smaller on average. Just my take on this given my experience so far.
Usually the NL 2-7 round doesnβt play that big meanwhile the PL 27TD does. With deep stacks in NL SD easy to pot control and take a low variance line. In a ten game mix it might play smallest.
