Are you travelling to WSOP 25?
I remember having a great first time last year and thought I could maybe plan a couple weeks every year if the schedule
How many European pros are really going to skip the WSOP? I don't know of a single one I've recently talked to.
OTOH, I know a bunch of European recreational players (no high rollers though) who aren't going to Vegas this year for various reasons.
exactly. half of those dirt bags are broke and staked sleeping 6 to a room. they need to earn. they're coming.
Some rec players will stay away this year because of the various issues mentioned in this thread.
I am Irish and don't play live but if I did politics ain't stopping me from going. Why should I care about policy or politicians I cannot vote on? Honestly not one person in Vegas is gonna miss them.
Only reason I don't play live is I live over 100km from the nearest proper casino so I am jealous of anyone who can one afford to go or lives near Vegas.
Anyone who is going enjoy it and the best of luck to you. You have one life, enjoy it while you have it.

Ty kind gent. Hopefully you make it out here to Vegas one day.

If someone wants huge fields and tons of choices in cash games, why wouldn't they miss a bunch of people not going if that indeed happens?

We’re guaranteed good times, large fields, and a wide array of cash games regardless
No one is even going to know that they are missing. Everyone should feel free to do what they want. But don’t harbor the misguided notion that we care or even that we will notice.

We're going to have a hoot.
lol imagine the lists at Aria are slightly shorter and there will be less euros…. Threaten me with a good time… some people are delusional lol

Maybe fields will be just like normal. But if not obviously there will be people in Vegas will miss those that don't come, regardless of their reasons. There's already quite a bit of concern. If you're just a low stakes grinder that wants to play a couple 10ks YOU might not care about a 7% drop in international travel plus flat US numbers and you're free to feel how you want. But don't harbor the misguided notion that everyone in Vegas and the gaming industry feel the same way.

I asked the entire gaming industry this morning and they told me to tell you that they don’t care what you do
Ask them if they care about international travel to Vegas.
“Nah” and that’s a direct quote
I mean I hope Vegas gets absolutely slaughtered in the next couple of years so that's fine by me. Their sheer greed and nickel and diming is out of control and needs to be reigned in.
I'm not sure them getting slaughtered is going to result in the changes you want to see...
Granted I've only been once after Covid and it was to watch the super bowl, so I don't know how if it's really that much worse in normal times.
Gentlemen, in no world is Vegas getting slaughtered. There’s just so much going on, especially now that it’s evolving into a live sports Mecca.
But what might end up happening is that prices and resort fees get so out of control that it might dip some (but more business for downtown), and maybe a smart exec at one premium casino sees a prime opportunity to offer high quality food/drink but compete on price.
Last summer, I lost $1.2 million. Variance and tilt got me. I’m undecided about the 2025 WSOP.

" We do expect that this is the start of a decline in international visitation," Hill told the Sun. "At some level, the conversation around the tariffs has also alienated some of our potential visitors."
Ya think ?
(I'm not going to shed tears for those large gambling operators, that routinely crap all over their customers, and f*ck their sucking up to Formula One and the Eurotrash market, also. OTOH, live poker would miss a drop in Canadians, Mexicans, and LatAms, including Brazilians, all of whom travel to play live poker during the WSOP.
I wonder how GG Poker feels about it's WSOP acquisition at the price it paid just before this ****-storm?)
It will be interesting, as an aside, to see how this affects conventions, not that those pocket-protector-wearing, cheap-ass international CES visitors ever helped live poker liquidity over the last 20 years or so.
Lmao if there’s anyone who skips the wsop over a tariff

International travel is down because conferences are being scheduled outside the US. Many countries have updated travel guidance to USA this year. Canadians are a large percentage of tourists and they are pissed.
Canadiens are…pissed
Think I’ve seen that in a movie once where the Tri Lambs and Omega Mus won homecoming and took over the Greek Council
Yes, I tried to tell David Lappin this on Twitter/X when he posted his fearmongering article about why Europeans should avoid traveling to WSOP this year. Obviously he responded with total radio silence...But yes, as long as the immigration officer approves you when you arrive and stamp your passport (or give you a piece of paper?) - that means you have an I-94 and won't need t
Funny how a lot of people haven't realised this considering it's kinda important...Lappin doesn't surprise me though given his political leanings. He's openly very anti-Trump.
Deleted the next derail.
Reminder: The "No Politics in NVG" rule applies to this thread, too. And as always, ad hominem attacks and other insults aren't welcome in here.
Yes I'm traveling to the WSOP in 2025! This year, next year the year after and as long as I possibly can! No tariffs or any kind of political opinion is going to stop me from living my life and prevent me from doing something I like to do. Listening to all these comments coming from people living out of the country craping on the USA is fairly comical. If you don't like the USA for whatever reason, don't come, ever again! I don't think I want people with that attitude inside our borders. For the people that live inside the USA that are crapping on our country, if you really don't like the way things are going then get involved in politics and stop complaining about things that you are doing nothing about trying to fix. If I decided to take a stand against things I didn't like that were happing around me and boycott by not attending events, I would be stuck in my house 7 days a week and never go outside. Instead of boycotting, make things change by involving yourself and stop your whining.
The WSOP is and always will be the #1 poker tourney in the world. Not only the events that they offer but then you have all the other casino's tourneys that you can skip out to for a filler. Just so may options city wide unparalleled by any other place. Is Vegas expensive? Not if you do your research and find the deals which are plentiful here in Vegas. Hotel rooms with no resort fee's, drinks how about a $1.00 beer or a $1.99 hot dog. Its all there for you just do your research if you really think things are expensive and need/want to save $.
It wil be interesting with the takeover of the WSOP by GG Poker. I hope that things will run smoothly and they keep the general formula that has made this tourney what it is today.
