I was specifically referring to the GoFundMe campaigns with the denouncement, but what you said here is definitely at the heart of the issue.
Coordi, "don't know who Karmelo Anthony is" but he damn sure knew about this woman who said the N-word to a child. That probably played into her fundraising as well. She's just the lucky recipient of all this attention. It's why some of these donation comments on her fundraiser are things like, "His name was Austin Metcalf". Which, for coordi's sake, is the name of the kid who was stabbed in the heart for having the audacity to speak in an allegedly aggressive tone toward Karmelo.

Part of why I post so infrequently in the last decade or so is because I stopped getting actively riled up by local Talk Radio. Since swapping to exclusively audiobooks in 2014, most of my exposure and interaction with politically charged topics actually comes from here, and whatever insanity makes it through the r/all filters on reddit. Sprinkle in some actual human interaction and discussions within my personal and local circle.
With the types of links and attitudes curated for me by these two main sources, I should be a full blown communist by now.

yes it was a race against the other crowdfunding, but the reason it worked as a catalyst is that it became a way to say loudly and publicly what a ton of people on the right have been mulling for a long while: that's verbal racism is just a minor character flaw at most, an insignificant defect compared to the horrific defects the left defends routinely in society (like when they allow thefts under 1k to happen without repercussion and so on).
