The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Carney did fine. Any other narrative is just partisan bitterness.
No I mean he is in the chair with the same group of people in the room
I thought Carney in this clip did what Justin just wasn't capable of and handled himself very well with his analysis some things just are not for sale
Broken YouTube LinkI don't think anyone is saying he didn't do fine. Just that if he did the same thing a few weeks ago he'd be called a traitor or timbit Trump.
Lol at the partisan bitterness. Like this is testable, Carney had a phone call with Trump after he became PM, that seemed to go about the same as this in person meeting. Nobody called him a timbit trump, perhaps because you seem to have no clue what that means.
I'll give an example. Imagine a Canadian is raving on about the "winning energy" and "aurora" of Trump. That dude is a timbit trump. Got it?
nah this is dishonest as hell. He's playing Trump exactly how we all expected and wanted. That doesn't involve being inflammatory for no reason.
Nah, this is dishonest as hell. It was full on hysteria during the campaign. Some media outlets talking about Trump using military force. Poilivere should have used this rhetoric during the campaign, but if Carney had of it would have completely went against the campaign narrative.

LMAO. What media outlets? Links?
Just lol.
I'm sorry, your idea that Poilievre should have been even more of a trumpy trumpkin and brought in that "winning energy" and "auroras" to do the sycophantic praise of Trump on the campaign trail...it's just too ****ing much buddy. Like it's sad that Trump is such a man-child world leaders use flattery as a tactic in the oval office, but just lol at the idea that Poilievre should have run on a campaign message of it.
Just lol.
My god.

Before invading Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin made comments that resemble U.S. President Donald Trump's rhetoric around Canada.

He talks to Jayme Poisson about what a theoretical takeover of Canada by the U.S. could look like. One that could include tariffs, but also boots on the ground.
lol buddy, neither of those quotes gives any sense of actual likelihood to this. Like ya, Trump's rhetoric WAS ****ing similar to putin's. Shame on him. The media is absolutely correct to report on that. I'm not listening to a 26 minute interview you didn't listen to, so maybe there is some smoking gun. But nobody in Canada seriously thought Trump was going to do a military annexation - that's just not why Carney won.
I'm sorry your side lost, I'm sorry that your runner wasn't enough of a timbit trumpkin for your tastes, but to make up this hilarious narrative that Carney's win was because the media correctly reported on the things that trump repeatedly claimed and insisted was serious is just loltastic.

? what does this have to do with the meeting today? You think voters wanted Carney to be antagonistic in his diplomacy?
You seem generally a mixture of radicalized and confused in your posting.

Nah, if Poilivere won and spoke the way Carney did today you guys and the media would be having a melt down. But now it's "diplomacy".
Ya, I'm sure thar rhetoric had nothing to do with Trump being the number one issue for boomers.
How many times did Carney say secure the border today?
yes Trump saying deplorable, disqualifying, Putin-eaque attacks on Canada - all backed up by real world economic attacks - rightly pissed off a LOT of Canadians and a big part about why the timbit Trump politician blew a 25 point lead and lost the election and his own riding. That and his “loser energy” and lack of “aurora”. So I’m not sure what you are complaining about, that Carney sucked up to him which the man-child probably loved?

So you’re frothing mad about some imagined hypocrisy in a counterfactual that didn’t happen because poilievre lost?
This whole gimmick where you think Carney did fine, but it’s still somehow problematic because something something liberal media is stupid. Not “Aurora” level stupid. But stupid.

Ya, I'm sure Zelensky-Putin will be hold a press conference like today's any day now. Don't forget Elbows up!
Half the country voted for Carney to be the right man in the room for dealing with Trump. It’s still super early - just one press conference - but that it seems to have worked out well is encouraging. I don’t really have any idea what your point is, but then you come from a point so deluded that you think poilievre should have acted even more trumpy in order to win.
Nah, if Poilivere won and spoke the way Carney did today you guys and the media would be having a melt down. But now it's "diplomacy".
I think that Canadians who are paying attention understand that other than perhaps Xi Jinping, every leader in the free world has "make sure to stroke Trump's ego on points that are important to him" in their Trump playbook. It is a sad necessity.
So, it should hardly be a surprise that Carney did just that. Also, I think that taking that approach at the beginning enabled Carney to get away with telling Trump to his face that Canada would never be for sale. People can claim that should not have been hard to do, but your in the White House, surrounded by press and Trump lackies, and you know how easily things could get ugly, yet Carney pulled it off. And, he was not cryptic about it. Not for sale. Ever.
He also was not shy in reminding Trump that Canada is the USA's biggest trading partner, right after Trump was pulling strange figures out of his ass in attempt to back his claim that Canada's trade with the USA was pretty much meaningless to the US.
As for Poilivere, I just don't think he has the presence to pull it off. I am sorry, but I just can't envision Trump talking PP seriously.
PS.
PP will be running in my riding, so I do hope to meet him at some point.
Nah, if Poilivere won and spoke the way Carney did today you guys and the media would be having a melt down. But now it's "diplomacy".
Spoke how? I'm sure some people would be melting down at PP much the way you seem to be an ardent tribalist yourself.
Reasonable people have reasonable takes about our PM acting reasonably and it's making you spiral?
