The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Do you think that changes that your statement was false?
Also lol at how lozen's hatred of Trudeau has kind of latched onto his new arch nemesis Guilbeault.
Out of curiosity, if Carney punts Guilbeaut, announces to build additional pipelines while investing in energy infrastructure for Canada and also agrees to an increase in production to supply the US in the deal would you still support the Liberals? What's your line in the sand when it comes to climate.

Who do you imagine you are talking to?
I thought it was a good question to the biggest liberal supporter here solely for what they are doing in your opinion to combat climate change nut I forgot you do not answer questions from Shifty and I
He gleefully cheered when Guilbeaut was named by Trudeau. Hoping a hardcore climate activist would "have what it takes". Now the leader he voted for put the carbon tax to zero. You would think someone who feels fighting climate change is the number 1 most important political issue would have a line in the sand that if crossed he no longer supports them. I doubt he admits to it though.
lol at the projection. Unlike shifty I’m not going to be come a deranged PPC voter just because the conservatives don’t have enough trumpy auroras and energy about them. I’m still going to make the strategic choice between the viable contenders on who has a better climate plan, even when they are politically forced to withdraw on a well-executed policy I supported.

Cool, so no moral line in sand? As long as the Liberals are making the decisions it's ok.
What does that even mean? “Moral line in the sand”? Like am I going to have a hissy fit, vote for the 6th place fringe party, and whine about the establishment party having low energy and bad auroras like some new age healing gone bad gimmick?
No.
I’m still going to vote strategically, even and perhaps especially when a party doesn’t completely align with my policy vision.

Let’s say you are right .
Uke shouldn’t had voted liberal because they retreated a little from climate changes policies .
What party should he had voted then ?
A useless party , making sure a party like the PC gets a majority (by Joe not voting liberal) to make even more damages on the climate front ?
Really ?
Again , ideology vs pragmatism .
It means how far from Trudeau's climate plan does Carney have to go for you to say I can't support it anymore? You were Guilbeaut's biggest fan and thought he was crazy enough to go through with your agenda. So as someone's who's #1 political issue is climate change what would be too much to support, would a temporary drill baby drill policy be too much?
I don't know what to tell you. I supported the carbon tax. I think it was good policy and well implemented, and Guilbeaut did a good job on that file. I'm sad to see the consumer portion had to leave for political reasons and glad the industrial portion remains. Since the conservatives also wanted to eliminate the industrial portion, that made it an easy vote between them. What else do you want from me?
Like I'm not the guy who is going to start complaining about lack of auroras and energy - that's your gig.

im not really following this convo or most convos with him in but i think this logic is silly. your vote doesn't matter anyway so may as well support who you think is best. Strategic voting is silly. Its like hasan claiming he voted carmela in CALIFORNIA the other day when he supports third party communism **** and was anti karmela . at least vote for the commy! your vote is already useless! that single vote matters more for whatever radical green you believe in
What's funny is BJ/Lucy types arguing climate change will make some places better living conditions.
If true that means Canada will be able to welcome hundred of millions fleeing from the warmest places.
I love it!
Very curious to see how Carney's meeting goes with Trump. The one positive over the previous meeting between Trudeau and Trump is that Carney is way smarter than Trump and has more political savvy.
What's that have to do with making a trade deal. I'd be surprised if much comes out of today, but eventually a deal will be made thats good for both countries imo.
It has a lot Trump hated Trudeau foe good reasons twice Trudeau had mocked Trump. Trudeau is as narcissistical as Trump . Carney has more sense than that and my guess he will build that relationship . I am just more confident with a Carney meeting than a Justin/ Trump meeting

I don't understand this argument. Millions of Canadians voted strategically in this last election, in particular NDP, Bloc, and green voters fleeing to the liberals who they likely don't love but felt was important to combat trump and poilievre. Like sure, any individual vote barely matters, that's true regardless of what voting theory you adopt, but collectively strategic voting has very real impacts.
I've sometimes voted green in previous elections, usually when my seat was a very safe NDP riding, and voting green is a political signal to the parties to take environmental issues seriously. But since one of the strengths of the liberals was environmental issues I think signaling support for them because of them taking that issue seriously is also valuable. I remember a good example of this way back in Ontario when the greens hit 8% of the vote. Mcguinty liberals won and then actually did a lot of good stuff, starting the feed-in-tariff system to promote green energy and the like, and then in the subsequent election the greens fell to 3%, and that's partly because people who care about environment say that in the liberals of that era.
The pearl clutching from trumpkins when anyone dare say anything the slightest bit bad against their Dear Leader, when of course Trump relentlessly mocks everyone all the time, but GASP if ever anyone does the slightest tinge of giving him a taste of his own medicine then the trumpkins will be off saying it is for "good reason" because it's always everyone else's fault.
It's so hard to really read anything into these types of things, but it at least superficially seems that Carney's visit to the US is going as well as one could hope for.

Collectivists mindset. People on the right don't have it, while people on the left feel they are sacrificing for the greater good.

Lol. I get that you feel you're in some glorious holy war of good vs evil led by "winning energy" "aurora" guy Donald. J. Trump, but like.....uh.....strategically voting in parliamentary democracies isn't some evil thing only people on the left do.
Like take the recent collapse of one right-wing party in BC to flood to another right-wing party to fight the NDP. Or people who might be sympathetic - you? - sympathetic to PPC but voted CPC to fight the liberals in the last election. Just lol at blasting this as "collectivist", whatever the **** that means.

Huh? You literally just said you stragically voted against Poilivere and Trump because the climate would be better...."good vs evil" in your opinion. That's not a "glorious holy war"?
LOL do you just utterly fail to understand basic politics? People vote for **** they believe in. So this:
Collectivists mindset. People on the right don't have it, while people on the left feel they are sacrificing for the greater good.
is utter BS. Sure the issues that I care about may be different than the issues you care about, but this idea that the right is immune from some...uh...."collectivist mindset" (which I don't think you have any idea what it even means) and only the left has it? STFU with that weak-sauce. And doubly shut up about it if you are going to writing a hagiography about the amazing "aurora" and "winning spirit" of Donald ****ing Trump.
