The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet

Forget how to multiquote.Uke, it's very simple. Freeze immigration until cost of living and housing are acceptable. We don't need any more people. Let's take a doctor here and a rocket scientist there. Otherwise, we are full and have been full for many, many years. It is the root of most of our problems in 2025. Every problem I listed in my previous post can be attributed to ma

canada is 230th on the countries density list, out of 242.
And you are full???

by uke_master

This is quite a remarkable statement. In the days after the election, Smith has been really going that next level, enabling albertan separatists, launching court challenges, and generally acting as if Carney getting elected is nearing the end times. Carney called her up and says he wants to BUILD BUILD BUILD...and....she's.....placated? More or less?

Yeah why would she doubt him its not like he wrote a book saying fossil fuels need to stay in the ground or wants to cap all emissions and get to zero which will cripple Alberta

Good ole Carney pledges 50% female and male cabinet people. How stupid pick the best people for the job and if they are all women great

Will see what his cabinet looks like in about 19 days and than judge

This doesn't really mean anything

students: as mentioned, they pay full tuition and subsidize domestic costs. That being said, I agree that the balance is off. The Libs have committed to cracking down on fraudulent private colleges, cap student visas, and tie enrollment to actual housing and labor capacity — which Trudeau has already started, but more forcefully and with clearer economic planning.

There's one point I forgot to talk about. Censorship. Liberals LOVE their censorship and shutting down discussion if it doesn't align with their views. They also love pretending to be accepting and inclusive, especially when it comes to gender identity and sexual orientation, but somehow not when it comes to political alignment.

Uke, like I've said. Empty gestures. The liberals can implement REAL changes if they choose to. But they don't and they won't. It was 3% pre-COVID. Why not bring it back down to 3%? Under Harper PRs were much lower than Carney's targets. Why not bring it back down to Harper numbers or much lower to create real change?

Weeeez, you're ridiculous. To say that we aren't full cause of population density is absurd. Why don't you go live in northern Manitoba then? There's only a small percentage of our land that is suitable for living and an even smaller percentage that has the infrastructure. Speaking of our infrastructure, it wasn't even designed for our current population. But since you're probably a troll with that comment, I won't bother wasting time going into more detail.

What metric are you going to judge it on? Whether he achieves the desired gender ratio?

Anyways, my understanding (from listening to a few podcasts) is Smith is NOT a separatist, and she would probably be satisfied if Carney met her halfway on some of her concerns for Alberta. So if you are pro-separatist, prepare to be disappointed I guess.

For me its what role Steven Guilbeaut has and a few others from Trudeau days . If Steven gets no cabinet position ill be impressed

by LordRiverRat

The fu ck are YOU talking about? Why do you think we aren't having kids? Cause no one can afford to. I've seen our labour market. Have you heard of brain drain? Our best and brightest are leaving us because they double or triple their salaries down south while paying less taxes. Who's replacing them? "Students" who figured out that making 25k a year at Timmies is better than ma

Lot of people around the world have kids despite having not much income .
Even here in Canada aka baby-boomers ….

Ok. Remember, the point was housing and you still haven't said a word about how trump would make this magically go away or any diagnosis like at all of problems with slow housing growth but for getting mad at immigrants (don't worry, i read that you have an indian friend!!)

There is a meaningful technocratic debate to be had about whether the Liberals dropping from 7.2% down to 5% for non-permanent residents should be further reduces down to 3%. Sure, that's a debatable point (personally, I remember the crazy post-covid labour crunch in many crucial sectors leading to conservative politicians clamouring for the federal government to increase immigration in these program and do NOT want to be repeating that!). But this let's call it "reasonable" argument is just so far from your initial foray into the thread where you acted like none of these problems like housing would magically exist with trump and then articulated a theory that would lead to significant population decline before getting to this more "reasonable" argument.

Uh, what is it you would like to say on this forum that you think the liberals are censoring?

That minister is a socialist and has no credibility . Its never gonna happen as hopefully the conservatives can win by than . Electric car sales are falling . Many argue they harm the environment more than. I think they have a place in society but 100% no chance

Remember this is the minister that said he would resign if the liberals cancelled the carbon tax . Did he resign ? Nope because he wasn’t qualified for any other job . I’m not sure if he still has his criminal record as well

lmao at WALL STREET APES, gotta love the accounts the trumpies follow.

Also lol at how lozen's hatred of Trudeau has kind of latched onto his new arch nemesis Guilbeault.

Yes I tend to agree .
Ideology over pragmatism ..
Dumb to ban hybrid car by then .
What happens when there is a power shutdown of electricity line in Spain or Texas couple years ago ?

It’s like those ridiculous banning attempt at all gaz or wood in Montreal and only going electrical heating .
Again only one sources of power , extremely dangerous in a winter environment from another stupid mayor (Montreal) that fack up this beautiful town with other non sense too …
But hey there is rumours she might been in the race of the new npd chief in Canada lol .
Good luck .

I don't understand how lozen can claim EV sales are falling in Canada

He’s part of the Trudeau team

Did he promise to resign if the consumer carbon tax was scrapped?

I don't understand how lozen can claim EV sales are falling in Canada

From an AI overview

AI Overview

+2
While EV sales are still increasing globally, their growth rate has slowed compared to previous years. Factors like the phase-out of incentives and concerns about charging infrastructure and range are contributing to this deceleration.
Here's a more detailed look:
Global Growth Slowing:
BloombergNEF reports that global EV sales increased by 24% in 2024, down from 33% the year before.
China Leads:
China continues to be the largest EV market, accounting for almost two-thirds of global sales in 2024.
US Sees Growth, but Slowing Pace:
US EV sales edged up by 7% in 2024, but this was driven by a surge in the fourth quarter due to concerns about potential tax credit changes.
Canada's Decline:
Canada is experiencing a decline in EV sales due to the phasing out of purchase incentives that had supported the market.
European Stagnation:
In Europe, the shift to EVs has effectively reversed, with cars with exhaust pipes increasing their share of sales.
Concerns and Challenges:
Factors like concerns about charging infrastructure, range, and pricing are contributing to the slowing growth.
Hybrid Sales Increasing:
Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are gaining popularity, competing with EVs in some markets.

I mean, liberalism in the north-american sense of "person who leans politically to the left compared to his national peers" definitely had a 10-year period where it loved to be offended by crap, and half their political debates online was over how horrible X was to say... often ignoring context like intention, setting and position / power. Some of those debates reached a legislative level, which was a bad optic even if not much came of it.

I personally think a lot of those debates were annoying, and I think a lot of them ended up hurting progressive causes far more than it helped them. Looking for allies is generally a better political tactic than looking for enemies.

But that the political solution to this should somehow be conservatism, the most censorship-happy mainstream political movement of the last 2 centuries, is laughable. Not to mention that modern day "conservatives" are so easily offended these days that they find disagreement to be an affront to free speech, and view its mere existence as evidence conservatives are persecuted.

The problem with detaching from the US isn't finding sellers. There is always someone looking to sell you something. It is finding markets for your ****.

Lol.

Maybe ask the AI to explain the difference between "EV sales are falling" and "EV sales are increasing, just not as quickly increasing as previously?"

Yeah I guess they are laying off workers because demand is exploding . Plant in USA and Canada laying off workers as demand is declining
