Vegas Trip in April
I know it's way too early, but I'm excited and the trip is booked. Will be flying in April 26 and home on May 3. I work
I'm loving the Wynncore -- I've played here many times before. Usually we stay at the Elara behind the Miracle Mile shops, so Aria is much closer. We are staying across from the Fontainebleau because that's where my husband's conference is, so the Aria is a hike! In future when staying at Elara, I'll definitely make the walk to the Wynncore more often. I might like it better. Cocktail service is much better, brush and dealers are great, and it has a better rake.
Went for a walk/run after work and then to the gym. Only ~40 minutes total, but better than what I'm used to. Before we left I got on my full-body scale. Going to compare when I get home. I used to be so fit! Being overweight sucks :(
They have a pretty nice gym here. Free weights are to the right out of the pic.

Last night started well, but did not end that way. Here are a couple of hands from the must-move table that went well. I was in for $875 (lost a little in NLHE -- AQ is my nemesis).
Two limps, I raise BTN (cover) to $25 w/ QQ74ds s/h, both call. Flop is 5d6d8h. Check, Euro reg whom I've played before and is very loose/aggro bets, I call, fold. Turn blank. He bets, I call. River is a 5 (no flushes), which I'm not thrilled with. He shoves his final $150 and I call. MHIG.
Then a reg from Aria sits down. He's Asian (Cambodian, maybe, can't remember) and looks as if he'd be crazy loose, but he's actually kind of tight. Decent player but not great. I've played with him many times. There's a straddle with a few callers, and I call SB w/5TJQhh, flop is 899hh, I check, he bets $45, I call. Turn is Tc. I check, he bets $100, I call. River is a blank and we check it down and MHIG.
I move to the main game w/ about $1, 400.
I lose a big pot vs. the Euro from above. He raises pre from UTG, one call, I call BTN w/ 678Ads. Flop is 368hh (I don't have hearts). He bets, fold, I call. Turn is 2c. He pots and we gii for his stack, which is $600 total. I put him on a wrap or heart draw, which I was happy to gamble against. I was correct, he had a wrap, but he hit it on the turn!!! He had 245A (or similar, no hearts). Oops.
Play a while longer and I'm at ~$650. Few limps to me on BTN and I pot to $30 w/AcKcQdJd. Two callers. Flop is TcJcXX. Euro from Tuesday night pots, and I repot. We gii on flop for his ~$500 and run it twice. First board I hit a royal w/ the Qc. Second board I hit a straight. He had TT.
It's late, and I'm sitting w/ ~$1, 100. I'm leaving in 20 minutes. The nice guy from my wrap hand Tuesday night sits at the end of the table. He straddles (covers), CO call, I call BTN, SB and BB call, he makes it $60. This guy always raises his straddle, so I'm not concerned, but I'm more concerned when the tight guy to my right calls. However, I call w/ 778Ads, SB and BB call. Pot is $300.
Flop is 2c6c7s (I do not have clubs). Checks to me and I bet $200 w/ top set. Two folds, and straddle pots. I know he has clubs, but I can't fold top set, so we gii. He only runs once (always, so I'm fine with it), and hits a club on the river :( He has Tc4c. LOL. I think his other cards might have been a 5 and an A, but not sure. The 5 makes me feel a little better because he had a ton of outs, but it still hurt.
Down $1, 000 for the night. Feedback on hands is welcome 😉

Not folding pre in any of these hands 😉 Not vs. these players. He raised w/ something like 45TAss. LOL.
I folded some serious hands vs. the tight players. I folded a strong KK pre vs one of them (thank goodness, because the other player in the hand had KK), trips, and a small straight. I did stupidly call $60 on the river vs a tight player (checked flop and turn) w/ the nut flush on a paired board (flop) and kicked myself as I did it. I knew he had a FH :(
Knowing your opponents is key in this game -- that's why I made the calls in the first two hands. I'm lucky that I play in Vegas enough to know most of them -- seems many of the Aria players have moved to Wynncore.
BTW, the one thing Aria does beat Wynncore on is food! I really miss Lemongrass.

Sounds like you’ve been in some good games.
Play seems fine. A lot depends on table dynamics as you say, although not sure I’d raise the QQ47 hand after two limps. By all means set mine in position, but you’re inflating the pot needing to hit a very specific flop and can’t stand a 3-bet from one of the limpers.

Hubby played the first night and lost almost as much as I won 😞 He is playing again now and will play Thursday and Friday. I am down now, FH vs FH, but he is up 😉
Well, we left the room early to get dinner (6:30) and because my husband was up a ton. I had moved to the main game after losing, running it back up, and then losing it again ;( Both times were to terrible players playing too many hands and putting on tons of pressure when anyone showed weakness. However, I could have found a fold in both.
The first I flopped top set and should have bet the 678 board. V was last to act and bet, we gii, and he has 59. I think if I bet first, he actually folds considering how tight he sees me. I called because he would do this w/ a draw, two pair, lower set, etc.
Then I have 89JJr on BTN and limp after a few others. Would raise w/ any suits. SB makes it $25, BB calls, folds, I call. Flop is 6hJhKs, check, check, and I check. I considered betting, but the board is so wet and there are so many bad turns (heart, 9, T, Q, A). Both SB and BB are very likely to check/raise w/ big draws, too. I am effective w/ ~$1, 500.
Turn is a K. SB check, BB bet, I call, SB folds. This guy will bet any K here. River is a 6, so board is 6JKK6. BB bets $800. I tank. It's so difficult to put him on KK, KJ, K6, and he loves to apply pressure. Plus, my hand is under-repped. I sigh call and he has KJ. Ugh. I'm immediately called to the main game. Of course, my husband goes on to win most of my money back from this guy, then he (villain) comes to the main game and loses a ton to another player in a couple of hands -- he just happened to have it that time against me :(
I was down $950 for the session, but hubby was up $3, 300 enough to put him up $900 for the trip 😉 LOL.

Hubby: -$2, 400, $3, 300 = $900
Food update:
I have a craving when I travel for those convenience store chicken salad sandwiches, so I've been buying them for lunch at Walgreen's on the way to Wynncore. Tried egg salad one day, but chicken is better.
The fried rice at Wynncore is just so-so. Not nearly worth what they charge. Maybe an ounce of duck meat and two shrimp. The Mongolian beef the first night was OK. I do miss Lemongrass.
Last night we ate at the bar at La Cave in the Wynn, because we were planning to head back to the poker room. The food was very good. Brussel sprouts with gochujang were delicious, lamb chops were excellent, and the seared ahi was pretty good.
Unfortunately, the wine flights were just OK. Two out of eight glasses were bouchonné, but they quickly gave us new pours from new bottles.
We ended up heading back to the room instead of playing more poker, which was probably wise.
Today, after the gym, we walked north and eight at a dingy café in a tiny casino just south of the Strat. My Thai basil chili with mint and chicken was actually excellent, but a little salty. Enough for two meals. But they charged me $5 for one egg!!!! And it was the servers idea for the egg. I should have complained, but I was in a good mood. Funny, because extra chicken, beef, or shrimp was $3. Hubby's Western omelet was good and a generous portion, but not nearly as good as Ellis Island. Coffee ($5/cup) was terrible 😉
Just sat in main game with this stack. In for $1, 000. Close to doubled up $750 stack w/ KK top set vs. straight draw just before moving.
Oh, totally forgot. Hubby gets called, but he is taking forever! They lock up his seat, though. Finally he calls me. Turns out he hit a $2, 800 jackpot on a buffalo machine and 8s waiting for the attendant. He had put in $100 and hit max spin for $44, lol. He had no idea what he was doing. One spin is all it takes!
We left early again for dinner. I was exactly even; hubby was down $220. The sushi place in Wynncore was $14 / 2 pieces. No thank you! We walked back to the AYCE Korean BBQ / Sushi by Yama place behind Tacos El Gordo. It was excellent! I mean, really, really good. The yellowtail belly and salmon belly were fabulous. The salmon roe was fantastic - I've never had it wrapped with salmon. The fish to rice ratio was perfect -- actually almost too little rice, but that's way better than too much. The unagi, one of my favorites, was one of the best I've had. The only non-sushi we had was seaweed salad and bulgogi -- both very good.
It was $49/person for the upper-end option, which included the bellies and unagi plus a few other dishes -- well worth it. We ordered a bottle of sake that was delicious, too (I don't know what that cost). I would definitely go back. (And, yes, we were playing gin, which we do everywhere we go 😉 )
And after dinner, we went to the comedy show at the Strat. It was a lot of fun -- the comedians were great. We ended up spending $50 (total) for all you can drink, but one drink was $12, so worth it the way we drink 😉
After the show, hubby wanted to gamble a little. Ended up downstairs playing blackjack and then roulette -- up $1, 050!
Been at Aria for a few hours. Lost $300 in NLHE AK vs QQ, then moved to PLO. In for $1, 500 total. Out for $1, 525. Hubby is up $2, 835!
Sounds like your husband is taking the lead on winnings! Loving the chip and food pics. Do you recall which comedians you saw? Are the games are real good or is that more a function of Omaha?

This new 2+2 layout is a pain to read, but seems like all the money is in PLO! Now if I only had a good poker brain and could learn the game...
