The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet

And you still voted for him.

And?

I'm not the one on my knees going on about "winning energy" and "auroras", and wishing Canadian politicians were more like him. I agree with Carney on some points, and disagree on others. That's healthy. Not whatever this insane Trump fanboyism is.

This is getting weird. It's now been most of two days since the world found out Poilievre - with no winning energy - lost his own seat. The biggest question in politics now is whether or not he will stay on as an unelected loser.

He has yet to speak. Or tweet. Or appear in any way. Not to give even the slightest hint of whether he is trying to stay on or not. We get all sorts of commentary from all sorts of conservatives (doug ford vs jamil jivani waring in public is awesome), and a few "poilievre should stay on" type comments from various party folks, but it is shockingly quiet.

I suspect behind the scenes there is a LOT of discussions going on, and when he starts speaking again we will know for sure which direction is chosen.

Exhibit A of lozen basking in the glow of Trump's "aurora" (sic):

I will let Ukraine know that their war indeed ended a 100 days ago.

Trump quoted Justin Trudeau on why he has not ended the war in Ukraine the same as clean driniking water " Its Hard to Do"

Your right though he did not end the war in Russia in 24 hours

Though border crossings have never been lower

And?

Climate is your admitted number 1 issue, you argued the carbon tax should be higher and defended until the end. Then just voted for the guy that put it to 0.

I'm not wishing, I'm explaining one of the things that has to happen for the Conservatives to win an election and how trump was able to become more popular as the MSM attacks him because the opposite just happened to Poilivere.

I don't get weak in the knees at the thought of the "winning spirit" and "aurora" (sic) of political leaders. I don't invent bizarre fantasies about how timbit trump politicians should be even more authentic trump and only then maybe they would magically win and election they just lost. Sometimes I disagree with them. I disagree here. That's ok. That's healthy. What you are doing isn't.

Trump is hated by Canadians. Being more trumpy than he already was wasn't going to win the election for Poilievre just lol this is worst post-mortem take I've read yet on the election.

Ok great, promise one miserably failed.

Promise two: Did Mexico pay for the wall that is presumably now built?

I can keep going on about this ALL day until you admit that this was a just outrageously stupid thing to say:

Lets remember Trump is keeping all his promises as much as we hate the tariff one

What fantasies did I invent? It's literally what happened.

Yes, I am sure the devout Liberal who believes Poilivere lost because he was too much like Trump and should have pandered to the left even more knows exactly how conservatives should win elections.

Trump is hated by Canadians

Cool? What's that have to do with Poilivere being another career politician that doesn't have what it takes? Should the conservatives try again with Scheer or O'Toole? How about another career politician in Peter McKay, maybe if Peter McKay has a better climate plan he'll win :p

I do recall Justin going into hiding pondering his future and nothing from you about it . The man’s got a huge decision to make I’m fine if he takes weeks . The decision should be made by the time the liberals select a cabinet and call parliament in session

I’ve heard good arguments for him to stay and good arguments for him to resign

That was a previous administration Heck if you want to have a competition on who broke more promises Trump or Trudeau let’s go

Let’s focus on Carney and his future promises I wish him nothing but success and hope he delivers

Yes, I suspect if Peter McKay had been the leader then they would have won. It should be an easy election to win. A decade in power, a prior leader deeply unpopular, many crises unfolding at the same time, incumbents being swept out of power around the globe. It almost takes a perfect storm of Trump being elected and threatening Canada so badly and the CPC having a maple maga timbit trumpkin for a leader to get the left to band together in a historic dissolution of three left leaning parties to block poilievre.

Your adulation of Trump - "winning energy", "aurora", etc - has caused you to completely misdiagnose what is going on. You think poilievre wasn't enough like trump, but the problem was he was too much like trump in the eyes of millions of Canadians on the left. Being more trumpy might make his ideological base like yourself more enthusiastic, but it isn't going to encourage those on the left which is essentially why Poilievre lost.

by lozen

That was a previous administration

Alright two completely broken promises. I'm sorry you only considered recent broken promises a broken promise. I'll do better in the future.

Promise three: Did he lower food prices on day 1 as promised?

Look, I can go on all day as long as it takes until you admit this was VERY stupid:

Lets remember Trump is keeping all his promises as much as we hate the tariff one

Andrew Scheer now out on TV saying Poilievre is staying on. Still weird it isn't Poilievre saying he is the one staying on, but ok, sounds like that is going to be the plan.

Sad we will have to listen to this loser energy for the next 2 years.

When did the hard right ever win an election in Canada ?

Shitty86 struggling to find his lane to cope is an unfortunate sight

I keep seeing conservatives calling the election super narrow, which it was, but not the way they mean. It’s super super close to a majority, 3 ridings needing some 600 votes. It’s about the strongest mandate possible while still being a minority. Better than Harper or Trudeau minorities.

by weeeez

This is horrific to witness actual Trumpers forming in Canada.
Really getting the worse of the US.

i think this election showed that we have nothing to fear from trump internally. It literally decided an election. if your still worried about that there are also ghosts under the bed

Elbows up! We are in a trade war don't forget!!!

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/carney-...

"I think we're going to have a great relationship," Trump said Wednesday, where he weighed in on the results of the Canadian election.

"He called me up yesterday and said, 'Let's make a deal.'"

And it was the one that hated Trump, I think the least, that won. I actually think the Conservative hated me much more than the so-called Liberal," said the president.

He went on to say Carney "couldn't have been nicer" and called him "a very nice gentleman."

Don’t forget it’s more the entire world are involved.
It’s like inflation , it wasn’t just us that suffer from it .

The difference is this time it’s trump that started all this mess we have today .

Good job Carney?

It’s terrible that we are in this pointless trade war your winning energy guy created. Thank goodness it isn’t yet as bad as threatened, but still bad. Hopefully Carney can thread the needle of getting a deal that’s good for Canada that Trump backs.

Having him off to a cordial start seems like an excellent first step in that direction so I dunno why you are being so pissy about it.
