3-5-10. 1000BB Deep. Wakes up with AA at 3AM. Check-raised all in on the flop by a maniac.
$3/$5/10 - Effective stacks are ~$10000 (1000BB).
V1 in SB: ($20,000+). V1 is best described as a "drunk maniac." Tonight, V1 ran it up to $20k with a combination of ago play and good luck (not sure how many times V1 bought in). This is my first time at this casino, but V1 is definitely a regular. He knows all of the other players and staff. From chatting in previous hands, I learned that he has been at the table for at least 12+ hours. Just tried to order a round of shots for the table. Waitress brought a shot for everyone except him saying that management had cut him off for the evening. Caused a scene. Another player ended up sliding a shot under the table to him. Problem resolved. You know that guy at 3AM.
H: ($10,000, effective stack): Bought in $5k and ran it up to $10k by 3AM. Hero's image is TAG, but I have been trying to play along with the table dynamics. Straddling $100 when people say so. Taking a shot when people say so... I have mostly shown the goods, but I don't know how much V1 is paying attention at this point...
HAND:
Hero, UTJ + 2, AdAh.
Folks to Hero.
Hero raises $30.
V1 in SB 3! to $100.
Hero 4! to $400.
V1 5! to $1000.
Hero flats $1000. Is this a mistake? I flatted because I observed V1 as drunk maniac and I am trying to induce over aggression.
Flop (Pot ~$2000): 2c 5c 9d.
V1 checks.
Hero bets $2000. What do you think about the sizing?
V1 XR all in for $9000.
Hero can call $7000 into a pot of $13,000 What would you do? What is V1's range with the 5! preflop? Is V1 really a drunk maniac or is this all part of his act?
We are never calling vs a maniac. Just raise to 3k+.
We are never folding vs a maniac on such flop. We lose to sets that's it.
Just call it a cooler or whatever and move on.
I don't totally hate the flat, but with these dynamics, I guess you might as well raise.
This is a unique spot. New casino. Never played this guy. Mega deep. Etc. You can just play in a very exploitative almost face up manner.
Also, I'm guessing 10k is significant to your BR. It's OK to raise, even to like 2.5 and lower the spr and just make it all a no brainer and to get value now from hands like TT or JJ or AK that might get bad flops.
I like the PSB OTF for basically the same reasons.
AP call it off. He can certainly have a worse overpair or be going nuts. Isn't this why you flatted pre?
if he has 99 in his 5 bet range then all power to him but it is way way more likely that he has a smaller overpair or the nut flush draw here, so you have to call it off
I totally get how it's a giant amount of $$ to call off here and it would be sickening to call a 900bb shove and only have 2 outs and that's why I'm either raising to 3500 or just shrug cramming pre. I have almost no experience playing this deep and I am certain I would end up as scared money, so I'd be happy to keep betting when I know I have the best hand
I would make it at least 2800 preflop. As played I would snap call here. There is just no way I can fold.
If the money you are risking is too big a risk for your bankroll you should have got up already. There is no shame in preserving your bankroll so you can stay in action.
He would need to 5! 99 or a small pp or bad suited gapper and check/shove it on a fairly dry board.
5!s are unusual in live cash games. However, given dynamics and stack depth, IMO you need to 6!. You have a certain amount of reverse implied odds flatting. The money always goes in when he has better than one pair, but usually not when you are ahead.
Snap call duh
I wouldve 6bet to 2.5k pre and no i dont care if we’re not balanced here
Since you flatted pre-flop, TT-KK are still in his range. This coupled with the fact we're dealing with someone who has drank so much in the past 12+ hours that he's been cut off means this is an easy snap call on this board. Even if he somehow has all the sets here (which would be wild but I suppose not that surprising given how you've described him), it's still right to call.
You're going to have to call on what is a pretty safe board. If he has 99 here, he also has TT->KK and AQcc/AKcc and we're in excellent shape vs. that range. If his range is exactly 99 + KK, we are ahead. You can only fold if he only has 99 here.
-Maniac
-Too drunk too be served
-5-bet PF
-Flop is all rags.
-You have AA
-Maniac shoves
Would this even be a question if not for the actual dollar amounts involved? 😀
flatting the 5! vs maniac is lol, but snap call as played
villain could reasonably take this line with club draws and worse overpairs
no reason to think this is an act
also note Hero is getting priced in vs villain having weird 2p combos and can runner runner the wheel
Against a good player we should probably have no 6b here. Against a drunk maniac not 6bing is criminal.
Why did you pot flop? We want to leave him room to punt his stack and this board is really good for aces.
Obvious call is obvious.
If you were not planning to snap call vs. this guy, you should have folded pre and racked up.
Yeah, I don't like the preflop flat and the pot sized flop bet.
Funny if villain had 52s and stacked hero for $10K.
High five the dealer and push your chips in.
Honestly thought this was a troll.
I guess if he rolls over 95s we can discuss if you were cheated
So obvious 6bet pre is obvious 6bet pre.
On your questions:
Hero can call $7000 into a pot of $13,000 What would you do?
- It's a clear call against a drunk mainiac, but my question is why are you even questioning that?
What is V1's range with the 5! preflop?
-Wider than normal cos he's a drunk mainiac, right? But not sure how would we know better than you? You've been playing with him for several hours, right?
Is V1 really a drunk maniac or is this all part of his act?
- How on earth would anyone here know this?????
I'm curious at you playing at these levels, because it doesn't seem like a typical thing a higher stakes player would ask. What's going on?
Yeah, seems like a troll post. $10K even deep. If it is 3/5/10, there is probably a mandatory straddle. Who was the straddle? The preflop and flop action also seem weird.
You called to induce, and induce you did on about as safe a flop as you can hope for.....
The number of drunk maniacs folding to a 6 bet has to be pretty low so might as well shovel in more money pre.
are we gonna get an update from OP?
Result: Hero tank calls. V1 shows 3s4s for the OESFD. ???!!!
The run out is two blanks and hero survives.
Odds calculator gave me 50.5% equity, so we were literally flipping for $20k. Crazy.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
1) This is a unique situation for me. I am a regular at 3/5/(10 straddle), usually at 200-300BB deep. I rarely go 1000BB deep and I rarely play with maniacs like V1. I have never played a maniac 1000BB deep, hence this post.
2) Playing maniacs 1000BB deep seems to be ++++EV, but extreme variance. I think it will improve my game to think about situations like this and seek out maniacs (maybe at 500BB instead of 1000BB).
3) Given, 3s4s is part of V1's 5! range, I am not convinced that 6! pre is the right play. I think V1 folds most of his range to 6! a $3k.
4) What is V1's flop shoving range? I ranged V1 at 22,33,99, and AsKs, hence the hesitation to call. However, now I think, after seeing me flat, maniacs like V1 would check-shove almost any flop with any two cards.
5) What is your approach to ranging maniacs? Is 3s4s the low or high end of his 5! range?
6) Any overall words of wisdom playing maniacs at 1000BB deep?
PS: I am a big fan of @GobblyGeek, and I would love to hear from you. Please post something starting with "I would limp pre..." 😀
Ok now I have to agree with earlier posters saying this is a troll post...
You mean he had 4c3c for OESFD? That would be literally 50-50.
Sounds like a good 5-10 game if this is real.
