People have seemed to intuit that God can be manipulated, but it’s not achieved through worship or flattery. You have to shame God into intervention.

We each are given a personal portion of life to steward and capital ‘L’ Life is watching what each of us do with it. There is no honor in white knuckling it, enduring a hostile reality.

That’s my spiel. I won’t keep pushing.

Craig. Can you stop posting for a while? Reading your posts is headache inducing.

That’s because reality exists in the chaotic unknown.

The more easily graspable social reality is not reality.

This thread got a lot less fun once people started discussing epistemology rather than arguing about whether or not a porn star dresssed as a priest was a pedo.

I agree. Also disappointed that some people seemed not to realize it was a porn star.

The social form of Christianity where worship is prevalent, this is the lowest form of Christianity. The primary reason to identify with the Christians is because they are the new chosen people.

Identify with them -> you become chosen. If one of the chosen suffer in this world, then God is shamed by that. This forces God to wake up and act.

eh I think it's more about networking/fitting in and as a brick and mortar dating app. Or that's a lot how it looks from the outside anyway.

Very well said. I agree with all of this.

Teaching about the Bible is fine. Just like teaching about Evolutionism is fine.

Fundamentalists have historically objected to teaching about the bible and putting it next to the Iliad, Odessey, Alexander Romance etc as literary works of importance to western civilization. Among christians, there is significant controversy on what bible stories mean, so the only solution christians could sgree on was leaving it out of public schools.

Many people don’t understand why stories have meaning to us.

Hell, many people don’t understand why the sense experience of meaning has meaning to us.

By and large, humanity is blind and feeling around in the dark.

A bit like trying to decipher one of your posts, then.

You are incapable of understanding me. I mean that without malice.

You are incapable of understanding me. I mean that without malice.

At last something we agree on!

And that's a great reason to not teach whatever the hell you're trying to say about the bible, if you are saying anything at all.

I teach about reality.

Oh my. I prostrate myself before the world's greatest comedian.

Maybe y'all should cool a bit down a bit with a Sede vacante Sudoku! 😀

I teach about reality.

Sure. But if we can't understand it, it doesn't really add much value.

Identity is more fundamental than understanding.

The consideration that “you” may not understand reality is the prerequisite for identifying with the part of you that is capable.

Identifying with me comes before understanding me. The “you” that refuses to identify with me is the version of self that will not ever go on the growth journey (which is the understanding-reality-journey).

I purposely frustrate the “you” which wants to grasp and understand first. This one is a zombie who is already dead but doesn’t realize it.

No, I don't think so.

No, I don't think so.

So you are claiming to understand reality better than me.

Would you explain reality to me then?

Then you are failing. I am not frustrated and do not want to grasp or understand.

I don’t post exclusively with you in mind.

Neither did I. Many people have thought like you before and it's rare to put in the work to outgrow it.
