Conclave sweat threat: Who will be the next pope?
Pope Francis has left the table. The first Latin‑American pontiff played every street of his twelve‑year run
No guys, all those idiot scientists got it wrong, the whole branch evolutionary biology has been thoroughly debunked by a puerile argument that some dumbass decided to call an "IQ test". Brace yourselves for perpetual motion and free energy next, we're going to ask a random 5 year old to debunk the laws of thermodynamics.
It's defeatist to say I think it's horrifying that animals have evolved to torture and kill each other?I loved my cat, but what she did to baby mice was pretty terrible.Without even considering humans and what they do to each other (and other animals), various animals torture and kill each other constantly around the globe. The world is full of senseless pain and suffering carr
I agree with you. Darwinism is the reality of this world and it’s horrible.
Or is your position that it’s only horrible for everyone else and not you?
I never said evolution doesn't happen. It happens all the time. Here are a couple brief excerpts from a little booklet that a friend of mine made up called IQ TEST:
I think religion is an incredibly powerful force onto the human mind - the world is currently fighting to death over it. But in good faith, I really do think you should at least attempt to build an argument for something that appears rather ludicrous on its surface.
The world was a much more exciting place when I believed in Santa and when I found out that he wasn't real, it really dampened the world for me. Both Santa and God, at least to me, have pretty much the same odds of existing in the manner that it purported.
If you've got something convincing, please share it, because this jsut states that religion is nothing more than a powerful drug - or a troll job, or a combination of the two.

It's horrible for me because I have empathy (and because I also suffer physical pain to a lesser extent).
But if it somehow became not horrible to me, that still wouldn't help all the suffering beings.

So then what is the value in deciding it’s the ultimate model of reality if it’s so horrible? Meanwhile you get annoyed when I speak about my version of Christianity, which offers a model of reality that transcends the horror of Darwinism.
Hence, my comment about defeatism and forcing yourself to live in hell.
You’d rather be right about your model of reality than look for ways out of hell?
Why don't you guys quit with the pretense and just say "look, I'm too much of a moron to understand anything about science, but I really, really want the sky daddy story to be true because I'm a dumbo who likes to believe in fairy tales"? At least that would be, you know, honest.
Thank you for sharing.

I don't know what also to say. Your furry/hairless dog story doesn't undermine evolution as a scientific theory. It isn't even inconsistent with evolution as a scientific theory.
My particular point was to show Trolly that one can accept Natural Selection while at the same time rejecting Macro-Evolution.

even if we grant them that God exists, that still doesn’t get them to evolution is false. Lol.
Actually we started with wolves. Dogs can still generally interbreed with wolves, but they are considered to be different species. Soviet scientists decided to domesticate silver foxes through selective breeding and they managed to basically create dogs in just a few decades. There has also been undirected speciation in the last 50 years, including small birds in Europe and the
Good points.
Dogs and wolves, for example, might be classified as a different specie, but if they can still interbreed then they would still seem to be of the same kind.
Surely you don't think one has to be a mind reader to be able to determine if a person is acting in a Christ-like manner.
Not always as easy as you might think. Nobody is Christ-like all the time, so it's a matter of degree.
If there is a God who will eventually judge humans, surely he would judge on the basis of behavior, not thoughts. Someone who "believes" in Jesus but routinely tortures children shouldn't be counted as a Christian who loves his neighbor, don't you think?
Some measure of fruit is certainly to be expected from a born-again believer. The sanctification process varies from individual to individual.
Jesus also said that to follow him you should give all your possessions away to the poor and leave your family.
Neither of those things are absolute commands for all believers. Especially about leaving your family. The born-again believer certainly has to be prepared to leave their family under certain situations. Both the norm and the ideal is to not leave your family, even if they are unbelievers.
Christians are to give as they are able, but there is no blanket command to give everything away. Giving everything away might be necessary if the possessions were an insuperable* stumbling-block for a person to grow as a Christian.
It's not too tough for me to determine whether or not someone has done those things.
If you know them well enough, that is true.
*I haven't had the opportunity to use the word insuperable in weeks. I'm happy now.

Sorry, I have no idea what you're on about here.
What's a soul?
Since people here seem to be interested in evolution, here is a video about the evolution of the papacy!
I am certain evolution is true, but I certainly don't advocate it. It's the thing which makes the world horrifying.
Why wouldn't you advocate for something you're literally certain is true? Evolution is at least supported to degrees by the fossil record. Intelligent design/God isn't and is purely a matter of faith.
The late Bergoglio actually pulled a jesuit coup and went with "evolution exists and it PROVES creationism" lol
Bergoglio's quote isn't as dumb as it sounds.*
I believe the Roman Catholic Church believes that God used evolution as part of His creation process. This is known as Theistic Evolution.
*Reminds me of Mark Twain's quip that "Wagner's music isn't as bad as it sounds."
