in b4 epic massive failure. which is exactly what all of you liberals around here are. GL

Now you are just being mean.

Nate Silver says it's gonna be AOC

First, let me say that I truly hope America doesn't somehow manage to pretend the 22nd Amendment doesn't exist in 2028, if we make it that long.

Second, an AOC vs Donald Trump race would be more toxic than even the lowest of low-priority Russian Dota2 lobbies. That would probably make for good TV. However, "This should be fun at least" was my thought when Trump ran in 2016 the first time, and I've learned not to **** with the monkey paw anymore.

I didn't vote for Trump in 2020 or 2024, but I'll go on record right now that if, God forbid, I see a ballot that has both AOC and a Trump anywhere on it in 2028, I'll actually show up and pull the lever for the bartender. At some point it's no longer about ideology, it's about sending a message. Ship the Trumps back to NYC where they belong and keep them out of my public offices, please.

At the end of the day, I still say we need a palate cleanser election in 2028. Each side agrees to find a boring candidate with actual political experience and an inability to give a 30 minute speech in which at least 70% of the audience doesn't close their eyes before the end of it. Make America sensible again. Go back to quietly ruling the world.

I am not so sure that this latest Trump version will leave USA#1 within the world's top 5 power brokers.

I think AOC would be an energetic campaigner, but unless there is a significant shift in the public mood, or unless she rebrands herself in a way that would piss off progressives, I personally would give her quite low odds of getting the Democratic nomination.

I do think she could wind up in Schumer's seat.

People say this just like they say the USD will no longer be the reserve currency.

Who fills the void?

China is a menace.

The EU, maybe, but they've got plenty of their own problems, and particularly so if the USA stops being a source of near limitless security labor and funding.

Isn't the point of MAGA to refuse the job to begin with?

You NEED to run trade deficits to be a reserve currency, that's how other countries enter in possession of the currency to begin with. If you don't have trade deficits, in aggregate foreigners don't hold your currency.

If no one is willing to run consistent trade deficits, no reserve currency exists in the sense the USD is now. Can go back to gold, or a mix of various assets. Gold price went to the moon because of this.

I don't see a woman winning in my lifetime. Sad.

You might be being a bit defeatist in your view. Here are several quick thoughts that came to mind.

#1 Hillary Clinton in 2016 presidential race won the popular vote by almost 2.9 million votes. Therefore, woman getting more votes has already happened in your lifetime.

#2 National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which is designed to replace the electoral college could pass in your lifetime. The change could be dramatic. It would have changed the presidential winner in the years 2000 and 2016, one of which was a woman, see point #1.

#4 How old and healthy are you? Oldest person currently alive is usually getting to at least 115 years old. That means the oldest person live today just missed by several years being alive when the Wright brother made the first plane flight in December 17, 1903. A lifetime sees a lot of changes to the world.

#5 I knew a lot of older people that said they would never see a black person voted president in their lifetime, then poof Obama.

#6 Some version of points above. A popular female like Oprah or Michelle Obama not wanting the job, but could possibly win if they ran. The current president in Mexico is a woman even though it is a very male culture. etc.

You might, but if you did it would be someone like Nikki Haley.

Vance is about +250 4 years out and unless he dies or gets shot or decides not to run, that number is going to drop. Almost any gop is going garner more votes in the general than trump.

Right wingers:

"I agreed with a lot of what Trump was saying, but his methods really turned me off. Vance seems like a far more reasonable vehicle in which to move this agenda forward. WE GO AGANE!"

Lefties:

"With Trump gone, maybe now is the time to quintuple down on our LGBTQATARI2+ agenda and finally show America how bigoted they've been."

Sane people on both sides:

Bernie Sanders:

"Once again, I am asking you to vote for me so I can continue to be ignored by my colleagues as the old man yelling at clouds that I've always been. Also, I remind you for the 87th time in the last 40 years, America is rapidly approaching OLIGARCHY!"

Nobody is talking about trans people except for right wingers. Constantly. Like, it literally never stops. You guys are the definition of obsessed. Its weird tbh. I have no clue how to further express the imbalance of focus between the left and the right when it comes to trans people.

I truly feel sorry for the trans community because they have done nothing wrong and are the relentless focus of right wing ire. Now the left has abandoned them and the right wingers are getting more fervent and relentless instead of letting up.

I have literally never heard anyone that's not a fox news screen licking conservative bring up an LGBTQ issue.

Interesting that you both picked the same letter from the alphabet soup, unprompted.

Who is obsessed with who, again?

by Inso0 m

Interesting that you both picked the same letter from the alphabet soup, unprompted.

The meaning of this is unclear. Can you clarify?

Wow, what a gotcha. You sure owned us.

Are you going to post some evidence of the lefts quadrupling down on the alphabet soup? Specifically non trans issues? Are you just talking out your ass?

One example wont suffice to represent the left. We need a bunch of examples to show "lefties" focus on this specific topic to justify your comment

by coordi m

Was it an own? I literally don't even understand what he means by "picked a letter."

I was being sarcastic. Hes trying to say he wasn't talking about trans people but we were so whos obsessed now, but clearly all he thinks about is trans people.

I knew you were being sarcastic, but why did he say we both picked that letter then? That's what I don't understand. Maybe he didn't mean me? Because I didn't specify anything at all about trans people.

I know you're both autistic, but this is all supposed to be in good fun. Relaaaaax. It's not that serious.

Gorgo is right, though. His post was much more inclusive than Coordi. My bad!

The **** are you even talking about?

I have no idea what he's talking about as well.
The right constantly pushing their InsooisapedoFUTARI+ agenda is a problem though.

"LGBT" and "LGBTQ" have been in common use for about thirty years now, but Ins0's brain calcified 35-40 years ago, so we all have to deal with his Boomer wisecracks about how hard learning new terminology is. God forbid he sees a teen with blue/green hair, we'll never hear the end of it.
