I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Go trump go !
Talking about firing Powell …

In one day , US dollar down 1% , 30 years bonds surge again near 5%, market down 1% .
That idiot will bankrupt generations of American soon enough …

Are we blaming Powell for Trumps disastrous policies? wow... Shouldn't we we blaming Biden. That's Trumps other favorite target to blame.

Dow is down 11%... Nasdaq 13.6% At least the TSX is only down 3.6%.

I really fear the US is quickly falling into the abyss.

Proto-fascist then, you pedant.

The term is anachronistic (like Mel Gibson's pre-Roman blue face paint) and doesn't really apply. Despite his sentimentalisation by Burns (who was about to take a job as a slave overseer in the West Indies when his book of poems started to sell to the gentry and he got invited to the best salons as a sort of pet, so he cancelled his boat ticket), Wallace was an aristocratic warlord with, as it turned out, ideas above his station. Fascists take a populist approach, pretending to represent the masses, whereas Wallace, in the old-fashioned way of warlords, demanded by force of arms the power he thought appropriate to his social standing and ambition. He certainly would not recognise any idea of political 'freedom', as ranted about by Mel Gibson. Still, dramatising the threat of an external enemy to 'rally his base', purely for personal self-aggrandisement, could be seen as a dodge also used by 20th-century fascists.

Defense contracting is dirty AF, the companies suck, the industry sucks, and people probably die all the time because of how much it sucks. No argument there.

Doesn’t make it ok to give Elon billions to make a vapor ware “Golden Dome” that he will then RENT to American gov or Thiel access to literally ever tax payers personal info for god knows what reason.

Both palantir and SpaceX had huge contracts under Biden as well, because they actually are the best at what they do for government

Yes, they are the best at wasting taxpayer money.

another great day for the MAGATs trying to destroy America as the world's economic powerhouse.

any guesses on how long before we are told that "Lifting sanctions on Russia is the best way to jumpstart the (purposely destroyed) American economy"?

they already said repeatedly that they are willing to lift sanctions if a deal is reached (and for Rubio a deal would allow Russia to keep the land it took)

This second incident and with family and friends if true means he has to go IN JAIL .

Fix it for you .

New week, same old downward trend. Money is probably the only thing that can unify people and bring Trump down. Trump attacks a university, but not enough care. Trump wrongfully deports a US citizen, but not enough care. However, when Americans, who can even afford to invest in their future, look at their investment portfolio go down on average each day, week, month, year to date and rolling 12 months, then people start showing more interest and concern.

Below is the year-to-date and I don't think it has been update for today's further downward spiral. Everything, if this yet updated for today, is down double digit losses.

It Is actually a lot worse than that when you add the exchange rate. like approx another 10% loss there. which people don't immediately feel if they don't travel nor invest in foreign securities but well off people (those hit the most by equity going to the trash) tend to travel more and have a grasp of what the USD index losing 10-12% rapidly means.

and unlike most other times historically, these recent stock market and forex events can actually be pinpointed to specific mistakes of the current administration (at least for a good portion).

now you guys just need to present alternatives that credibly do care about the well off portfolios and it's GG MAGA in 2026 and 2028.

He did not deport a US citizen he wrongfully deported a non citizen who should be brought back given due process and than shipped back to his home country of El Salvador

Though you are right he is on the right side of some of those issues but being on the wrong side of affordability will kill him

There’s been like five stories in the past week of us citizens being detained for extended periods by ICE, and don’t get out without a lot of hassle. Not good for the vibes, imo.

Plus even more about students/visa holders/tourists getting picked up out of nowhere and having the status suddenly revoked.

Relevant to the economy, I can’t see how this doesn’t crash the tourism industry. Why come if there’s even a 1/100 chance that could happen.

I'm pretty sure that the guy in question while not a legal citizen is entitled to be in the US due to a Visa and his marriage to a US citizen.

He was deported by Trump because in 2019 he was accused of being a member of the Venezuelan mafia in the US. Those charges (by the first Trump administration) were dropped as there was no proof presented of any crimes having been committed. Just the tattoo on his arm that they thought linked him to the cartel.

Is this a whaddabout?

You're barking up the wrong tree. The DoD hasn't been able to pass an audit for seven consecutive years.

That's how you know Elon and Trump are full of shiit - they're going around firing people and destroying regulating bodies when the biggest waste, fraud and abuse is in the military budget.

I agree they never did go after the DOD were the most fraud and abuse occurs in my opinion

What part of meritocracy don't you understand bub? 😀

It's a shocker that when you hire a bunch of assorted clowns, you end up with a clown show.

Uh,oh. He's doing the Hitler wave.

Some good points .

Trump doesn’t talk about the debt ( US bonds) that America export to the world .
Which was previously (thx to trump it ain’t so no more) beneficial by having a lower interest rates for the Americans …

Like stocks doesn’t show in gdp , I guess bonds doesn’t show in trade numbers either …

A lot of people around the world don't watch/read the news for various reasons or are switched off from what's happening in the US. Some of them have a very nasty surprise waiting for them at the airport.

I have no idea who that is, but it looks nothing like what Musk did.
