Caesars IN Continued Flood Closing

Caesars IN Continued Flood Closing

Does anyone know anything about the Caesars Southern Indiana, New Albany, closing from the flood? Been closed over a week. Is that Route 111 along the river destroyed or anything, or just high water? I don't remember them closing for more than a day before, but they sure are in a flood plain.

I guess this is why they closed for 10 days or so. That river is normally about 50 to 100 yards away from the property. Apparently reopened now.

Reopened quickly considering

Talking Stick in Az was closed for a month+ for much less water than that.

That property is actually only 10 yards or so from the Ohio River in that bend where it stands. The river is usually dozens of feet below the level of Caesars, but very close. Maybe they got the land really cheap for that reason?

Indiana at one time required casinos to literally be in river boats. So obviously had to be literally on the river bank. Actually had to sail sometimes also.

The Ohio River floods much of the adjacent land, called the river bottoms, every spring. Some of the best farm land in the country. The river rises 10+ feet frequently in spring.

So that Caesars is close to river and multiple feet up, are to be expected. But when you get a ‘big one’ still gonna get flooded. There are literally farm houses on stilts 25+ feet in the air that they use boats to go to and from every spring. So I doubt the cost of land was a real factor in the location. Distance to and access for customers much bigger factors.
