Are you travelling to WSOP 25?
I remember having a great first time last year and thought I could maybe plan a couple weeks every year if the schedule
Right I'm not saying my small sample means much if anything. Just saying what I'd observed recently.
But travel overall being down doesn't necessarily mean pro poker players in their 20-30s will be afraid to travel.

Well this is what you said
I was there last week and the plo pool was absolutely infested with euros and usually that's not the case until wsop. It doesn't seem to me like they're worried.
But travel overall being down doesn't necessarily mean pro poker players in their 20-30s will be afraid to travel.
Thread is about people traveling to the WSOP. Not poker pros in their 20s-30s. And fear is not the only reason even the subset you describe might decide to skip the WSOP.

I know what I said. I was just giving an anecdote.
It was also surprising they were here a lot earlier than usual
Fear is the only logical reason they won't come.

I would just say this - I'm fully aware that 99.99+% of people travelling to the USA have no issues and get waved through. When someone has an issue, it's usually because they have done something wrong in the past, are doing something wrong now, or don't fit in with the norm of what a CBP agent expects (eg, a family travelling to Disneyland makes perfect sense to a CBP agent).
What could poker players in their 20s-30s be doing wrong in the eyes of a CBP agent?
1) Have attended the WSOP previously and stayed >30 days without registering
2) Carrying more than 10K cash and not reporting it
3) Carrying large amounts of cash or wiring cash to the WSOP despite having no clear source of income like a normal job
4) Travelling to the USA, calling yourself a professional poker player, and saying you are coming to play poker with no real ties to your home country
All of these (which are very normal things that young poker pros do) to me put players in this demographic at a higher risk of having something go wrong at the border.
Lol? Avoiding leisure travel to the US is part of a general trend to boycott the US.

People aren't suddenly afraid of American products. They are angry over incompetent and foolish American policy.

You think euro pros are gonna avoid Vegas bc they're angry about American policy? Good one.
The only reason they wouldn't come is fest for their safety.
Sure. You totally sound like a person capable of understanding this stuff.
Try telling me why I'm wrong.
You seriously think any foreign pro who normally comes to WSOP is skipping it this year for any reason than fear of their own safety? That's seriously hilarious.
Especially euro pros the biggest turds and most selfish of all pros.
Again, why do you keep talking about pros? Plenty of recs travel for the WSOP. It seems like you're barely able to read and understand what is going on.
Sorry to change the subject but I actually wouldn't mind if tourism in Vegas got wrecked a little, the prices are out of control. Something needs to change. This has been going on for a while now and I'm not just talking about simple inflation....I'm talking about a slice of pizza and a beer for example. The prices are 10x-15x what I pay in my state
The downside of everything being owned by a publicly traded company these days (or at best subsidiary), sociopaths (investors) looking at numbers like junkies at heroin. Vegas surely at a tipping point in terms of being such bad value even those that can afford to go will stop going? The days of "we'd get double the consumers but xx% less margin" are gone it seems. Less margin is like sun light to vampires. Everything is short term gains, since the debts can be just resold if things don't work out. Hard to see where it's reversed.
Again, why do you keep talking about pros? Plenty of recs travel for the WSOP. It seems like you're barely able to read and understand what is going on.
Clearly you're the one barely able to read. I said euro pros will definitely still be coming unless they fear for their own personal safety. You tell me I'm wrong l. I asked how I'm wrong and you said "why do you keep talking about pros?" Well done.
I do agree we'll get less rec foreign players this year.

This was already explained to you.

It's like thinking is your fourth language. I don't really post here. so apologies if this is known and I'm just supposed to ignore you.

Ignore me all you want. You try and tell me I'm wrong and then when I ask you why I'm wrong change the subject.
Great "thinking" skills by you.

You are no longer wrong because you agree Euro travel to the WSOP might very well drop off. You could have said that at the very start but you didn't.
To bypass the polititarding (which does no one any good, and I call upon the moderators to wield the ban-hammer like Thor):
In a private forum where I participate, there has been discussion about which US ports of entry are more likely to be difficult for arriving visitors and which are less likely. The difficult ones are New York, Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The better ones include Seattle, San Francisco, and others.
I just realized I'll be in Vegas at the start of the WSOP. Might play the 5k event.
Can you wire money to the casino?

To the WSOP (PARIS) under $100,000 wires are NOT allowed as of 2024. You can do a pre approved Cashiers check or USE the app that was established. Now wires direct to a casino cage (non WSOP) are different but those funds are for pit play usage. You might get away using them as a bank once but it will probably be the last time they will ever accept a wire from you so I don't suggest it. I've used Cashiers checks to establish my TPIC for wsop entries it fairly easy . Contact WSOP Support and they will give you this year's details.
What is this "completely innocent" crap? So many articles about people there is no justification to deny entry much less be detained for days or weeks or months on end. And it doesn't matter anyway, there is supposed to be this thing called "due process" in the US.
People are avoiding coming to the US, and will continue to, because what is happening is arbitrary, excessive, and are crimes under international law as well as US law. But apparently there is no law in the US any more, which does make people fear for their safety, and makes them avoid travelling.
It's really not hard to understand, unless you are an American who believes any lies you're told I guess. Enjoy swimming in the swamp your politicians are turning the US into, the rest of us will enjoy living in the first world in functioning societies and stay far, far away.
Feel free to stay away from but your understanding of the current status and our legal system are very flawed.
One example, those remaining detained are effectively choosing such by contesting their deportation. The could accept deportation and promptly no longer detained and on a flight heading home.
Then because they wish to remain, they are exercising access to that very due process you mention. But by doing so, they remained detained until the due process completes.
The "legal system" is currently being enforced bpoorly. ICE just detained a US citizen for 48 hours that was just trying to cross from GA to FL. A judge already ruled ICE should not detain anyone crossing into FL from another state at this time. Not only did they not know they weren't allowed to do that, they detained a US citizen on top of that lol. Just think how dumb a typical cop is and just imagine the type of people that are going to want to work for ICE under the current administration and a lot of these WTF stories make a lot more sense.
