Does anyone know how crown approaches card counters? Is it a back off from BJ, table games, or total ban from the premises?

My mate who isn’t on 2+2 just came back from a counting trip, and considering trying crown, but if it could ban him from poker (or even worse parking/restaurants) it wouldn’t be worth it

I have a friend that was part of a team around AU/NZ years ago, I will check with them.

That would be awesome, thank you

The satellite schedules and structures for the VPC are out. The rake looks crazy high for some of the events, up to 20%!!

Rake is decent for most of the events (10-15% avg). The cheaper events have the higher % which is the norm but structures are a 100x improvement over the first couple series they had.

I really want to play the main - going to try a satellite next week

I presume people are aware of the new mob, PlayLive:

Damn, I did not know about this. Looks like tournaments only which makes sense because I presume they don’t have a gambling license.

Bold of them to open up at the same time Crown are doing their Vic poker series. Will try them out some time, But I have seen too many dodgy small players pop up to trust it until it has been around for awhile 😆

The food and beverage stuff is basically rake isn’t it? I don’t think anyone is not going to pay for that because looks like you get twice as many chips if you pay for it. Guessing it’s the loophole to run rake tournaments

Cash game changes at Crown effective today
- 2/3 NLH (200) is now 2/5 (200-500)
- 2/5 NLH (300-1k) is now 5/5 (500-1.5k)
- rake has NOT dropped to $20
- 2/5 PLO is now 5/5 PLO, buy-in unchanged

Really wish they had 2/5 PLO.

They have put 10 tables in Pit 22 which is between Lumia and the Sports Bar. That will be a nightmare. Expect people to be standing right behind you.

One change I had suggested to them was red chip bets only. Unless all-in, can’t bet or raise to $16, $42, $69, etc. it wastes everyone’s time and slows down the game. Most time is lost pre-flop with a weird raise size and numerous callers. Crown and the players want more hands per hour, having to give change to multiple players slows the game down.

So what is fake at those levels?

I presume you mean rake. Back in 2023 the rake for the lower games was increased from $15 to $25 and that’s where they remain.

Just checked the Crown site and the rake for every single game they offer is now10% to $25. Back in 2023, the rake for the bigger games was increased to 10% to $50, then after justifiable backlash, some games dropped to max $30 rake.

As of today, buy-in for $200 at 2/5 NLH or buy-in for $20,000 at 50/100 NLH, the rake is the same, 10% to max $25.

$200/$400 HOE is on again if anyone wants to play

Another poker series in Melbourne, the Australian Poker Tour at the Oakwood Premier, Southbank.

12 on the list for 5/5 PLO, they open a table, just three show up, everyone is frustrated. Just ridiculous that they don’t have 2/5 PLO. That needs to change. Perhaps I will suggest to the managers that they get rid of 2/5 NLH because that would be as stupid as not having a smaller PLO game.

I was thinking about going to play 5/5 PLO tonight. Are there usually games playing Saturday night (5pm - onwards)?

Yes Saturday and Friday it runs almost all the time

About a dozen TV screens added to the room.

New Crown Pkmer Series in August (?).

Games might go to red chip rake.

Poker room hours changing within two weeks. Weekday open at 12pm rather than 10am. Can’t recall if the room remains 24/7 over the weekend or closes at 6am. We will soon find out.

I've just been told that you can cash in your Crown points for chips - anyone know how to do that please? (I have 108,000 points).

New poker series coming in early August!

And Aussie Millions back next year!!!!! April

I have no specific experience with Crown. But here, most places that let you do this, it is for "promo chips" (or machine free play). If true for Crown, that is never (here at least) usable for poker.

But it might be available for video poker, or roulette, or baccarat. You play it on one of those and turn the promo/FP into cash/normal chips which you can then use for poker.

you can print a chip play receipt at a VIK machine, exchange the receipt for chips at a blackjack or roulette table, pocket the chips without playing and cash them out at the cage.

I saw PlayLive were advertising cash games:

“CASH GAMES ON DEMAND • NLH & PLO - 1/2 2/3 2/5 5/10 10/25”

Bad enough that 99% of their weekly tournament schedule is NLH, worse that when they have a series with some non-NLH events they think everyone has the roll to play 1k, 2k and higher buy-ins. Where exactly do they think players get the opportunity to play smaller mixed games?

Every time I think the poker tournament economy is unsustainable, another huge series gets announced and gets record turnouts

Opening Events were $330 freezeouts for a decade and now they’re 4 day 1, $1100 unlimited buy ins and they get giant fields

Aussie millions schedule is out for late April

Played for a bit over three hours the other night when I was approached and told I had to take 15 mins break. The break button was two spots to my right. Me: "The break button reaches me in 30 mins - what happens then?" Crown Clown: "Then you take a 20 minute break." Have the lunatics taken over the asylum or what?
