President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Should only trans activists be allowed to influence cultural norms and values?

Is this a serious question?

No.

Were they?

No.

I'm not here to argue other people's hate. Honestly... anyone here who wants to hate on a workshopped issue, designed to keep your attention away from the corruption, incompetence, and grifting happening, go at it.

Not, surprising... the hate is strong on this issue.

I'd bet 90%+ of those dislikes, didn't even watch it.

It's such a clear, logical, and linear argument... I don't know how you'd argue against his main points.

by FreakDaddy

I think Jon Oliver did say it well... focusing on trans athletes in sports, it just a vaguely cloaked way to be bigoted against the trans community. It's ok to say, "I don't think trans people should exist..... .... in women's sports." As long as you add, "in women's sports", to anything about the trans community, then it's ok. This was an intentionally work shopped issue by co

Yeah, my conclusion after months of doing research and arguing the finer details was "We need more data to make informed decisions in the edge cases. In the mean time treat them like human beings"

Arguing that a 14 year old trans person shouldn't be able to play softball is fairly inhumane. Its just pee wee softball, its not that serious

Agreed. I think people who are obsessing about this issue are psychologically splitting.

We see this all the time in politics for example. It's usually men, because generally speaking, men being w/ other men is less accepted than women being w/ other women. So for men who are sexually attracted to other men, and suppress it, they end up splitting, and tend to hate and obsess on gay / trans issues more... and then most of the time they end up being caught w/ other men.

People who are secure in their sexuality, just don't have this issue imho.

I'll quote the great Neal Brennan, as I often do now... "I think exactly zero fks about trans issues."

Then, you need to accept that the pushback is going to continue because both sides care about the shared culture.

by craig1120

Then, you need to accept that the pushback is going to continue because both sides care about the shared culture.

This impacts culture about as much as left-handed batting dominating pro baseball does.

Unless.... do you think everyone is now going to become trans because trans people are accepted in society? Omg... there will be no more biological boys and girls! Society is going to collapse.

You know, conservatives had these same views about the gay community in general 40-50 years ago. Literally... the same. Did society collapse? Did it leave some deep impact that has changed us all collectively for the worse?

by Karl_TheOG_Marx

But speaking of trans issues, I had always assumed this transphobic Riley Gaines grifter lady had finished second in a race, only behind a trans woman who won. No, she tied with a trans woman for FIFTH AND SIXTH PLACE. Way to form an entire career around hustling the rubes who are ALSO mad that you're equally as mediocre a swimmer as this trans lady. That's some hustle.

I think you mean 12-time NCAA All-America swimmer.

Then why not let all the kids choose what team to play on? Why have divisions at all?

Gender is of primary importance to culture.

by craig1120

Gender is of primary importance to culture.

And nothing has changed. Trans people have always existed... all throughout time.

Here, I'll make it simple for you. Just put in your own words, how this issue directly impacts you. Take as long as you want. I'll read all of it.

All the way till grade 9 agreed . High school and beyond ? No

by craig1120

My identity extends beyond my individual self.

Well, that's very enlightened of you.

Pretend for a second you do have a self. Something that thinks, interprets and interacts w/ the world that is a part of that world, but only knows its own thoughts, and not the thoughts of others outside this self.

How is that self impacted by this issue on a personal level?

So you are in favor of 15 year-olds playing on the under 12 teams?

Why should I care about the reality of your hypothetical world where my identity doesn’t extend beyond myself?

I care about this reality where my identity extends beyond myself.

by Didace

I think you mean 12-time NCAA All-America swimmer.

nah buddy I think I mean 6th place

All those accolades and the only thing she'll be remembered for is getting so furious about finishing sixth to a trans lady in some race that she accidentally found a career in grifting dumb transphobic rubes from it.

Given the extraordinarily stupid remark/rhetorical question you posted after this one, you are likely one of those rubes yourself. Anyway, thanks for the correction on this stupid and evil con-artist/witch's swimming record, I bet you and the rest of your crew have always cared SUPER HARD about women's sports before the 1% of lucky-duck trans kids came in and ruined everything

ooooh, got 'em! No way coordi can respond to this third-grade ass argument! Do you think you accomplished something here?!?

2p2 really needs the clown emoji, at least for the truly nut-low posts like Didace's here

Oh we pivoted to TRANS!!! issues today?? Market must still be sliding!

YEP, CONFIRMED! HURRY PIVOT TO BOGEY"MAN"

I care about this reality where my identity extends beyond myself.

Is this a pattern of how you deal w/ direct questions you don't want to answer? You go into silly soliloquies.

You're a silly bear... aren't you? Yes you are... yes, you are.

Be well everyone!! !!

I'm old enough to remember ALL the conservatives going "who the hell cares about boring women's sports?!?! You're a man and you're going to a WNBA game, ARE YOU GAY?" Now they get to pretend they give a flying **** about women's sports, all so they can oppress an already deeply oppressed group even further.

I want to see a conservative punching UP one day, instead of down, down, down.

by Didace

I thought your statement was ironic 😀

No I wouldn’t .
But I agree that the statement you made would logically be the end results .

FWIW , 1 thing what baffle me in all of this ->
The argument I often here is , gender is not about sex or physically, it’s a state of mind .
Ok but then why trying to translate it to the actual physical world and Sexual world afterwords by letting them play in divisions they shouldn’t ?

If it’s good for them , it should be good to anyone else and just drop those « useless » male/female divisions ?

It’s not because someone think is a different gender then what his body is , it magically changes his body .
Now people here says well , at that age it doesn’t changes anything !
I say ok but if that is the case , just go to the end of the argument and be fair and treat everyone equally -> eradicate all girl/boys divisions and just mixed them all together below 12 or w.e age shrug .
Lets not be hypocritical about it ….
It matters or it doesn’t !

This tactic isn’t going to work. Gender is of critical importance.

I don’t push back against “progressives” on this because I’m conservative. I’m not conservative.

by Didace

Because trans people can't just decide to play on the girls team. You are talking about an 18-24 month process minimum. Every athletic governing body requires a year minimum of transition and transitioning requires therapy and counseling.

Nobody is looking to prevent the trans kids from playing softball.

Not to keep beating this dead horse, but I was already over 6ft tall and 200+lbs by 14 and probably could've easily cracked a dainty female skull with an errant pitch, and definitely would've done some serious damage in a home plate collision.

It's a safety issue by this age. Everyone can play in the open division, but we create this safe space for girls to play sports without getting consistently destroyed and/or injured by the physically superior boys near their age. The feelings of one trans kid do not reign supreme over the feelings of all the kids and parents who want a place for their daughters to compete on a somewhat even playing field. Just because there's no Olympic medal on the line doesn't mean there are no stakes at play.

The fact that there are apparently so few examples of trans kids that this affects isn't a reason to just acquiesce to their demands, it's a reason to tell them to suck it up and play by the rules. Clearly, none of you have daughters.
