Clever, angel shooter, or am I just a total D!@K?
V has been very aggressive and mouthy to me as well as others, nothing to justify calling the floor, but belittling the play and poker skills of his opponents after winning hands.
Vegas, Horseshoe, $2/3, $500 max buy
V is EP and has me covered. He opens as usual to $10.
H, in CO, $500 bc I keep topping up. V has called my bluffs or raised several of my bets, taking maybe $150 from me in total across several pots.
V leads out $10, and I have a bluff raising hand, so I go to $30. V calls.
Flop is unconnected, but 2 flushed. V Checks, I bet $35, V calls.
Turn gives an unlikely low straight draw but not a flush card. V checks, I bet $70, V calls.
River brings both the flush and a small straight. V checks, I bet $100, V raises to $200. I tank. Count my chips, ask to see V's stack, count out the call. If I call, I'll have ~$175. I tank so long they threaten and then call clock. Floor counts down and with a 10 second warning, I go all in.
V insta calls, I insta show A5 for the nut flush. V goes ballistic about why I was so slow and that he would have called my raise at anytime. He angrily asks why the F#$% I took so long. I answered that I wanted to be sure to get all his chips. ( I didn't, but I got the max possible) The floor admonished us both to mind our manners.
Some of the table laughed and loved that the big mouth was spanked. Some said I was angel shooting. Some said I was a dick and angry I took so long, which I completely understand.
What say you? Was a figurative punch in V's mouth worth the drama?
BTW, he never showed, so I don't know if I over flushed him or what.
After V finally calmed down and the floor walked away, the table was quiet until another player said to V, "you shouldn't have called his all in." And that started another several minutes of drama.

Dick maybe. Angle no. Angel def no.
BTW IMO yes dick. V maybe deserved t but not the table.
Not an angle, you just took his place as table a-hole that hand.
Congrats, I guess..

It's fine to Hollywood a little, but if the clock gets called it means you disrespectfully wasted everyone's time.
Anybody who shoots an angel is a dick. I think it’s actually in the Bible.
Taking too long in a cash game - whatever. Unless it's a time game, then you're a dick. I wouldn't take it that far, but the plan was solid.
This is in no way an angle.
It is a false tell and it worked.
I understand why the table was upset with you, because they felt like you wasted their time, but in reality its part of the game.
I like how you ticked off V. It is entirely possible V was tilted and in position to lose a whole lot more.
I'm not sure why the Floor admonished you. You did nothing wrong you told the truth after V had acted nasty. Unless there is something else you said that wasn't in your post...
V's response was typical for a loser who is upset. Saying that he would have called your all in regardless of the time you took is at best his truth. At worst its a lie to make you look bad and get the table to dislike you. There is no way to know what V would have done if you had jammed immediately. It may be that he had a second nut flush but there is no way for you to know that.
Personally when I am playing with people who jam immediately it usually means they have a monster. Similarly when somebody takes an extraordinary amount of time and then jams it also means that they have a monster. In all likelihood I would have folded if I was V.
Against a regular dude? Absolute scumbag move 100%. Any time you use the dealer/floor as a tool to extract money from your opponent, it kinda sucks.
Against this guy? Deserved.
This. Few things suck as much as sitting at the table while someone Hollywoods. At least it wasn't a tournament with the level timer counting down, but still, I go to the casino to play poker, not to watch amateur dramatics.
No one ever does this as a bluff

This guy might have deserved it but everyone else at the table didn't deserve several minutes of their recreation time wasted IMO.
Fine to tank a bit, whatever, but agree that if the clock is called and not just that but the floor gets into the countdown mode, you wasted way too much of everyone's time.

against a guy like this as described???
well played, perfectly executed.
next time buy a round of drinks for the rest of the table though
Definitely not an angle, but tanking to the point that the floor was counting you down was a dick move to the rest of the table (other guy deserved it). If I am an uninvolved third party I'm definitely calling clock on you fast next time you're really facing a decision, just to send a message. That's saying something because I rarely ever call clock on anyone.
Sure take 30-45 seconds to Hollywood but you took it too far, IMO.
But whatever, it's no big deal. I like the other poster's idea of buying the rest of the table a drink (everyone except the dick guy). Kind of makes peace with the rest of the table while simultaneously sticking it to the dickhead again since you're buying the drinks with his money and not including him.

Definitely offer to buy the villain a drink. If you are going that far to stick the knife in, you might as well twist it.

Haha. The only thing the OP could have done to punish the dickhead more would have been to slow roll the jerk after he called.
I'm glad you didn't do that though OP. You already punished him enough.
For those who have commented on my spelling error, in my defense, I work in the angel investing industry, so I use that word frequently. And when you combine that with the fact that I'm really really stupid,...

Pretty much this. To get a clock called on you, wait for the floor to come over, then take nearly the entire clock must have been 5 minutes plus.

Not just to the count but 50 seconds of the count.
It's fine, although you didn't need to take "that" long for sure -- and it would have annoyed me a little.
OK for a start this is not angle-shooting. Second I don't know why the floor told you to mind your manners in this story, I guess maybe you weren't as blameless as it sounds.
My personal response would be highly motivated by how much the villain had annoyed me. By the sound of the story, it's likely I would be irritated by the villain and would find your plan to humiliate him highly entertaining. That said if I was already frustated by the pace of the game, or the villain didn't really bother me, then I'd be annoyed by the whole performance. I could go anywhere from openly high-fiving you and laughing in the villain's face to rolling my eyes and asking if we can all move on with our lives yet.

LOL
There's really no difference between tanking 1 minute versus longer than 1 minute so tanking long enough for someone to finally call clock on you is kind of a dick move.
I was the deck and I agree it was a dick move.

Err...auto correct doesn't like my manly deck.

You're effectively raising $175 on a $650 pot. So you're likely getting a call from anything but air. Humming and hawing a bit to extract money is not an angle. But if you're doing it to the point that floor and clock is called, you're dickish.
