QQ's in BB against an old guy.

1/3 8 handed NL

UTG...80 ish guy. Has played very tightly. He has over limped with 88's. He has raised and taken it down a couple times on the flop. He has raised maybe 4 times in the 3 hours I've been at the table. He did open raise once with Ad9d in the CO. He has opened to 20 each time. He made a good call down with his 88's on a Q5627 after the turn was checked and the villain bet 100 on the river. He seems like he plays straightforward. I've seen him play a lot but never with him. He seems sharp.

I have 400 and he has me covered. I have been card dead so should have a very tight image.

UTG opens to 20, HJ calls, Button calls, and it's folded to me in the BB with QdQh. I raise to 120, the UTG fairly quickly matches my stack and the rest fold. I considered just calling but with so much dead money I decided to raise it up and fold if UTG jammed all in.

(280 in pot) Ac7s5d...I check, he checks. When he called pre flop I put him on AK, KK, maybe JJ or TT. This is over a very small sample so I really don't know. Maybe he jams pre with the AK or KK's but again I don't know. After checking this flop I put him on KK's or JJ's or TT's. I think he would just bet the AK.

(280 in pot) Ac7s5dTh....Should I be starting a bluff here? I considered it but I didn't like the ten and I'm only targeting KK's. What if the turn was a 2? Would jamming all in make sense? Maybe betting small to get a call from JJ's and then jamming the river? It's also possible he has a hand like AQ or AJ and is playing carefully against me given how tight I have been. Would he fold these to a jam? perhaps just checking it down and hoping to see a showdown would be prudent.

Against an OMC who hasn’t played a hand in 3 hours and tends to be overly sticky when we check back an Ace high flop good luck bluffing them off a hand like KK or an Ace. If we bet we should be doing so with a plan. I don’t like this tho.

why do that when a villain will be incredibly honest with you on the turn when you check and then we can make decisions on what their bet sizing means, itÂ’ll also give them green lights to small bet with worse. Get the info then make decisions.

“Oh no he checked I gotta catch up on missed values” **cue massive overbet

Grunch:

PRE - the 3B seems pretty standard. The size seems standard. I might go a tad bigger when there were multiple callers in LP, but only a little, and maybe not, if they're not splashy.

FLOP - Think checking the ace-high board is fine. I want to see if he bets, and if so, how big.

TURN - Think I'd check again. I don't think he'll keep slow-playing a better hand, but he'll probably check again with JJ, which is about the only hand we can target for value.

If he checks back the turn, then I'd block-bet the river, for like $90-$100.

I'm fine with your preflop and flop thinking.

On the turn I don't think we should ever be turning our hand into a bluff as we are targeting so little (basically just KK as he's never folding Ax with just a PSB left). I would check and probably fold to a bet against an ABC guy now that TT has got there.

If the turn checks thru I would consider a small blocking bet of $50 on a blank river to eke out value against JJ and set a reasonable price against KK... and of course lol and say "you play that ****?" when he calls and flips over the other QQ.

Pre and flop are fine.

I shove or check/fold turn. It really seems as if he'd bet an A on the flop, but who knows? With a tight image, I might just gii.

If you do check and he checks behind, obviously check any river except a Q.
