Prizepool payouts of a huge GG MTT b2b years massively different - similar pp collected
I didn't know where I should post this but figured someone here might be able to help clear this up as I've just discovered something that just doesn't add up. Basically the WSOP Super Circuit Main Event on GG last year collected a prizepool of $10,427,000, and this year the same MTT collected $11,624,500 yet the final table payouts are night and day. I've enclosed a screenshot for reference. I can't help but feel a bit robbed looking at the stark difference - as you can see I came 4th last year. I only took a screenshot of the FT of last years ME - does anyone have any more info that might shed some light as to why the massive difference in FT payouts? Like evidence of a flatter payout across the board or anything? They literally paid the FT out ~$2.61m last year and ~$5.5m this year. Something doesn't smell right.

4th place is nearly doubled in this years FT payout, actually it looks like every place from 9th- 1st is like 40-50% more than last year.
Looks like you messed up and made the wrong final table
How many places paid this year?
Add up all the payouts and if it = the prizepool there is no problem.
Then do the same for last year and if there's a discrepancy post your findings.
If no discrepancy then...
I heard WSOP recently flattened their payout structure so that's probably what it is but this:

I did painstakingly do this - didn't think I could find the individual payouts before, but good old PokerCraft had all the details. Turns out they paid out $10,270,595 which is $10,427,000 minus the 1.5% "loyalty fees" that they did mention in the tournament lobby. So it was just a flatter payout structure last year. I would close this thread if I knew how!

New structure would be incredibly top heavy which is opposite of flattening
Maybe it was last year that the flatter payout structures went into effect and then they reversed it because it was unpopular?
I'm not sure. I just remember hearing something a while back about how they were going to be increasing the payouts for min-cashes while still paying the same percentage of people.
