He doesn't seem very strong here, betting heavy to get alot of folds.. Good or no?

H1 I would think it is fine to check or cbet.. but what else would you check that doesn't have sdv? River seems like a call but probably close.
H2 I would probably give up. I'm wondering about raising turn perhaps that could work.
H1: It's roughly equal in theory to check or cbet here. But it's much better in practice to 1/4 pot it, check back turns unimproved. I'd recommend filtering your database for flop cbets vs checks to see how dramatic the difference is. We want an unbalanced c-bet strategy in these games.
In theory if K8 checked the flop, it's calling turn and river vs those sizings. BTN has enough worse pairs to fold OTR, and holding a king unblocks their bluffs.
H2: KQo is a 3-bet or fold (outside of defending the BB). Against a tight raiser we can actually just let this go preflop. As played I wouldn't bomb the river. It's not clear what they have, and there's a chance KQ is the best hand. It feels too spewy. The answer is don't be in this situation. Don't call pre. Probably don't even call the flop.
Thanks for the feedback, both of you
