Are you travelling to WSOP 25?
I remember having a great first time last year and thought I could maybe plan a couple weeks every year if the schedule
All those words, no paragraphs and STILL wrong. She was detained at the US border trying to get in. She wasn't IN.
You moron.
You are hilariously stupid. Just a weasel trying to get of on some bs technicality ''she was on US soil at the border''.
So you are saying she was in MEXICO and CBP went into Mexico and detained her ? How F'ing stupid are you. Of course she was on the American side of the border and had a revoked VISA with the intention of obtaining a valid one. Do I need to use smaller words ?
Was it excessive - absolutely.
Are you just being a jerk at this point ? - absolutely.
I added lots of spacing this time so maybe so will take the time to actually read it . I'm done with this Enjoy Poker where ever you choose to play it.

You truly are a special kind of stupid. Incapable of admitting you were wrong.
Good luck at the WSOP. You clearly need it.
People like making meaningless and futile gestures to virtue signal when they are powerless to argue against the thing they oppose because they aren't allowed to learn economics without being expelled from the social group from whose approval they base their self worth.
Yeah man, those stupid Europeans just don't understand the economics of detaining innocent people at the border.
They're not a very smart and independent thinker like you.

You are the moron here. If you are correct, then every person who comes to the border is either going to be told "Welcome, you did the paperwork right, come in.", or they are going to get arrested. Why TF would the border agent not just say "You have the wrong paperwork. You have to leave (back into Mexico), fix the paperwork, and then come back again." That is the blindingly obvious correct way to handle this. The fact that you think otherwise is some kind of sign of major brain damage, or you are brainwashed into some sort of cult. She should not have been detained for any length of time.
Why it's so hard for you to understand that it is standard for visas and paperwork to be processed at ports of entry, that processing paperwork at ports of entry is the job of border agents/border facilities, and forcing people into detention at the border (which is not in the country) is an unacceptable way to deny the paperwork?
There is no justification for this, and your desperate attempts to twist the truth to find some way to justify it will not change that.
Most European govts are now advising not to travel to the US, and Americans might want to understand that this is the logical outcome of detaining and torturing Canadians and Europeans for no reason.
Why are you defending this? It's like Americans just love to be unnecessarily cruel for no good reason. All good reasons for everyone to stop travelling there, which is what is happening.
I really have tried to be nice, I truly understand to a degree your frustration but GD it buddy I am NOT wrong. She WAS in the UNITED STATES, She WAS detained at the border ON UNITED STATES SOIL. She DID NOT have a VALID VISA because it had previously been revoked. She therefore was entering the country illegally by the letter of the law even if it was with pure intent. You

I support border policy being set at the landowner level, and the complete legal abolition of tax funded governments.
As a Canadian who has gone 6 times I won't be going this year. The US faces a potential $60+ billion loss in its tourism sector this year and I would gladly be a tiny part of that $60+ billion.
From an industry newsletter I follow:
NV, LV STRIP FALL
Total Nevada gaming revenue decreased 9.28 percent year-over-year to $1.218 billion in February alongside a 13.78 percent decline on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Locals market was relatively flat despite the significant drops, with revenue decreasing 0.10 percent.
Not hard to read between the lines of what's happening there. Revenue down 9% YoY despite locals market remaining flat means there's a notable drop in tourism.

I think this is more due to the plethora of online gaming options and the economy in general, rather than people not wanting to travel to America for border concerns.
That data is also from 2024, so pre Trump?

It's February 2025 vs February 2024. Certainly some other factors could be part of it.

Can't really deny the impact of countries issuing travel warnings even if there is other factors too.
Hell, Canadian citizens are being detained by ICE.
Traveling to WSOP '25:
I'm leavin' on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again.
I don't know why but I am going...(have not played poker in 4 months)

The Super Bowl was in Las Vegas last year (in February). Also last year there were 29 days in Feb rather than 28 this year.
Poker players from around the world heading to the WSOP should be prepared for **** like this:
Dude was detained for hours and then deported because he changed planes in Hong Kong rather than flying directly from Austrailia.

Yikes, yes pretty sure, this risk of not bring granted entry even though you "seem" to be on the right side of the law will deter many as well.
I guess it's a different story if the border agents are able to justify detention with valid proof of any wrongdoing or documentary evidence, doing so purely on whims and whatifs and assumptions is just going to result in people not willing to take the risk, especially with maybe expensive non refundable bookings on the line 😞...
don't know if I'm allowed in casinos outside of the UK

Or this guy. Sounds like they took him right to general population in a federal prison:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/mma/ar...
the officers had stripped him of all his belongings before escorting him into the prison with just a blanket and a sheet.
'The moment the door opened, it was chaos,' he said.
'Fights between gangs. People screaming. Arguing over food, what to watch on TV, crazy people running around. Madness.'
Subotic recounted how he allegedly got into a fight with another individual who had allegedly tried to steal his stuff.
'When the guards rushed up, no one said anything. The guard looked at me and said: "You got a good welcome. Keep your head straight, or you’re gonna stay here longer".'
Subotic revealed that he stayed in prison for multiple days before being taken back to the airport.
I think more than the politics what will really lower interest in the WSOP this year is the downturn in the economy not just the USA but looks to be a global downturn.
But on a micro level how many of us guys are flush with expendable cash currently ? I know many pros and recs in a smaller market like buffalo/Niagara falls that seem to be financially handicapped the last couple years and this recent bear market can't help...
Seems pointless to drag up random individual examples of people encountering issues at the border, as an example of something being 'wrong' with the country and try to deter people from travelling to WSOP this summer.
Under Joe Biden's watch, conservative influencers were stopped at the border, questioned for hours, and thrown in cells for days. But that doesn't generate the same headlines as anything where media can link the name 'Trump' to it.
Either way, all this is besides the point. It has always been that way, that not even an approved ESTA or a US Visa (like I have) is a 100% guarantee to be allowed entry into the US. That has always been under the mercy of the Immigration agents. Nothing has changed in that regard.
And since nothing has changed, this thread in itself is stupid. It seems mostly to exist just to scare people from going, and it has a clear political motive.

I think the cases are exceptional, a direct result of Trump's policy, and that's why they're news worthy.
Could you please share information about Biden targeting conservatives at the border?
Previously visa errors would get travelers turned away, now they're sent to ICE detention for weeks or general population in federal prison. These are stories from rich people with resources to help them out. How many others go unheard?
From my side, it seems like the political motive is to scare anyone from going within 100 miles of the US border.

Moving to step 2 of the process.
Step 1: It's not really happening
Step 2: Yeah, it's happening, but it's not a big deal
Step 3: It's a good thing, actually
Step 4: People freaking out about it are the real problem
