How good is Maurice Hawkins at tournaments?
He just won his 18th WSOP Circuit ring. Super impressive. But noticed that he doesn't do that well in WSOP and more competitive tournaments. So is Hawkins really that good or is he just good in soft fields?
About as good as he is at not paying people back
I saw he play ept something like that and him dont stop say “ ego poker ego broke” like idiot, he cant be winner in avg buy in 2 dollars online. I think.
There’s a lot of players that are better in low buyin tournaments/against weaker competition than stronger players than them he seemed to fit in that category. He does a lot of unconventional things/huge sizings from what I remember. His results are kinda skewed too he plays every WSOPc and fires a ton of bullets. Ari Engel’s results and play are way more impressive IMO
Hes just a reg who fires thousand bullets in soft fields. His strategy is to get a big stack and then hopefully convert to wins. He grinds rings for clout so he can get easy and profitable backing/staking for markup deals from people who see his ring count and think "this guy is a sure bet". Its a long con from a conman who happens to be good (not great) at poker. Hes pretty surely at least a decent reg but hes absolutely not a profitable player.
Theres enough dummies out there that hes set for life just by advertising his Hendon Mob and selling action for markups that let him basically freeroll. Hes also freerolling by getting backing deals and not paying people back.
he's great at scamming people. If he was actually great at poker he wouldn't only be having success in dirt stakes circuit events after all of these years. And even that success is debatable since we don't know how many times he's buying in to events.
who dat?

You have to be pretty good to beat a flush with a straight 3 handed for a 5 figure ladder.
Would explain the many circuit wins if he somehow has figured an angle to get rewarded pots that he clearly lost.
This dealer has to go I understand mistakes happen but wild spot for something like this to go unnoticed.
I read a Poker News article about 10 yrs ago where he said he grinds the WSOPC because he can clear $250k every year for his family
He now sits as the top dog in WSOPC cashes with over $3m over a Million more than the next player, nothing new. gg mh

But how much did he lose?

Maurice says a lot of things. Such as "i'll pay you back." That doesn't make them true.

I would bet everything I own Maurice saw the flush and elected not to say anything
16 years of grinding every circuit, every tourney with multiple bullets in each...18 wins is kinda meh when you look at it from that perspective
How does it matter? Only because they did not see it does not mean he did not see it.
Yes he would 100 % not say anything and many other players would not either is my guess.
I think he's human pond scum but if the dealer and other player missed it, it seems reasonable he could have missed it as well.
Is this hand history actually even confirmed or was it just reported? Seems really weird those 2 people missed it and that Maurice wasn't yelling for the flush like he was the straight.
Where did he get his degree in biology w/a minor in chemistry from?
Do we know if the dealer is friends with Maurice? This seems fishy
Looks like the dealer announced the straight and mucks the “losing”
Hand very quickly. Hawkins is sorta silent when he sees the river at first. And yeah he’s not calling for the flush since he has the ace of heart.
Dealer instamucks the other hand, and just calls out “Table 38” like it’s the middle of the tournament. Seemed really nervous and in a big hurry.
And it’s the final three of the Main Event and there’s no floor staff there?
But absolutely on the player to call out & protect his hand.
The guy does say "I thought I won..." confused standing there as the dealer reassures him in not so many words "nope you lost" one of the quickest showdown mucks I've ever seen. Dealer prob speed running to get to a cash table where he'll actually make a decent hourly. Do you think Maurice tips on his tournament wins?
I know someone who would follow this dealer home if it happened to them.
Let that be a lesson, dealers.
surprised no one has brought up that maurice is backed by players accused of cheating in WSOP circuit events and sketchy actions by dealers there as well

anyone know if the dealer from the pokerorg video deals all the circuit stops?

Wow that's a fast muck.
His opponent does say "I thought I won" but also says "I didn't see the straight" so it's not like he meant he thought had flush.
