Yeah he's muddying the water on who broke out the hostilities. They asked him and he lied, but they should ask him if Russia invaded Ukraine ... and he wouldn't be able to say yes.

No way will there be fair midterms. I think there's an very high chance there will be no midterms.

How much we betting here?

1 million bragging points, and I'll give you 10/1

i'm second in line after house

lol at you guys thinking there will be no issues with the mid-terms. Trump will start whining about Dem interference 6 months before lol, and now he controls the people in charge of elections.

Not sure what you mean given that elections are managed at the state level

I love how CNN and MSNBC love covering workers that lost their jobs because of Elon and Trumps firings . They were silent when Biden cancelled a pipeline and folks lost their jobs

If we don't have to escrow, I would give you 50 to 1 one odds that the midterms take place. I'm sure that Trump will claim that the elections were rigged against MAGA candidates, but the elections definitely will happen.

polymarket seems very lucid in estimating actual actions by the trump admin

Two people have offered you bets on this and are likely to give you whatever odds you would like and you have refused. Either take their bets or shut up with this nonsense and go back to your survival shelter you built when trump won the first time.

Because Biden didn't cancel the keystone xl pipeline. The Supreme Court shut it down long before. Under the trump administration. They're was no work on the pipeline being done during the Biden administration, and it was never going to restart.

OK he revoked the license but he shut it down

.... And nobody lost their jobs for the news outlets to report on. So, what was your point?

The Supreme Court shut it down. Under trump. Biden just formalized it. If you want to blame someone for the jobs lost (which is foolish - this wasn't the only pipeline ever built), blame the Supreme Court.

According to polifact, 1000 employees lost their job

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/20...

These were temporary jobs, not permanent ones. Again, this wasn't the only pipeline ever built. CNN and MSNBC were reporting on PERMANENT JOBS being lost. The jobs you are referring to were just basically moved to a new project.

There were no people actually working, because AGAIN, the supreme court halted this project much earlier, under the trump administration. These were potential jobs, not actual people being fired from work.

The super drama statement "there won't be future elections" stuff started during Trump's first term. It's an amazing statement. No one on earth would put their money where their mouth is on that one. It reflects some kind of fantasy mentality about the whole thing. You know, in politics you can just say anything. Why not?

I know they're probably Republican shoo-ins, but there's 2 special elections in Florida on 1st April. If it looks like they're going to the dems, we'll get a sign or otherwise about Trump's approach to fair elections then, I guess?

2 dem wins would flip the house, right? 218-215 would become 216-217?

People who believes that no damage to U.S. democracy is occurring unless elections are cancelled are even more delusional than people who expect midterm elections to be cancelled.

Right - just like you guys said about Row v. Wade being overturned.

In this case, Trump is making moves that indicate this is what he wants, so one could surmise that there's a non-zero chance that Trump dismantles enough of the government and creates enough chaos to maintain power.

Because of this the most important election will be mid-terms. He knows this, so we'll see what his strategy is.

Don't think people are disagreeing with you. Just hilarious when people say very high chance of no elections, but won't actually back that statement up. Indicates they are just full of ****.

People who believes that no damage to U.S. democracy is occurring unless elections are cancelled are even more delusional than people who expect midterm elections to be cancelled.

Well, there were concerted efforts both to undermine the 2020 election, to not certify it and to "find votes" so results could be overturned, both from the Trump administration and its close allies in congress and beyond.

Now, it is true that there is a big leap from this to cancelling elections, but we can conclude that the ambition to make elections irrelevant exist and we can conclude that it isn't just a fringe view.

So, "cancelling elections" is the wrong term. You would go the route of Russia or Hungary, and make elections increasingly irrelevant. If it ever gained traction, it would be presented as preserving elections and argued something like this:

Spoiler

"To ensure fairness and integrity in our electoral process, it is crucial that every vote is counted, and every American is granted the constitutional rights envisioned by our founding fathers. I have invited congressional leaders to collaborate with me in fortifying the integrity of this sacred process, and our public servants will investigate, pursue, and prosecute individuals who jeopardize our Republic and our way of life. I call upon every American citizen to join me in fulfilling our patriotic duty and protecting our inalienable rights. We will not tolerate those who obstruct our quest for honesty and fairness."

Is there a difference between a sham election and no election?
