Molly's game is borderline unwatchable.

From a poker player's perspective or just in general? I thought it was so-so. The poker content wasn't great, but that's to be expected. Dead Money got a lot of things right, but the movie itself wasn't very good. Hirsh's narrator monologue about ranges, stack sizes, player histories and board textures will just fall on deaf ears. Most people don't care enough about those details, and they added little to nothing to the movie. I do think they did something cool with how that one hand went down, but overall the movie was blah. The guy who played the cop was pretty great though.

Could be fun. I'll keep an eye on it.

I know it's likely a bad movie, but it just hit Hulu today, will check it out.

I just watched this on Hulu. I thought the movie was worth watching. Not crazy about the ending. The motivational audio he periodically listened to cracked me up. Anyone know who that motivation recording was? Was it something fictional for the movie or is it a real audio book out there?

Mississippi Grind is is a great movie. Not poker centric (more of a gambling movie) but it does have some poker in it. I highly recommend this flick if you haven’t seen it already.

Most movies about poker specifically are bad with the exception of Rounders I guess.

thx, I just put it on my watch list

Just watched this movie. Highly recommend it. Being a poker player, I can watch most gambling related movies and enjoy them more then non gamblers. Most of not so great. This was better then most of them in my opinion.

Plot- good enough for me, not going to win an Academy Award or anything 😀

Characters- really liked the characters . didn't know the actors really liked them all by the end

Poker- pretty darn good, about as good as I could hope for.

Not going to get into any more details since it just got released and don't want spoil anything for anyone.

It finally dawned on me after a hundred or so viewings that Rounders is analogous to the Rolling Stone’s Goats Head Soup and Stephen King’s Tommyknockers: It’s a great bad movie.

The plot is of course ludicrous and the poker scenes are hilariously implausible, never mind that Damon & Norton had obviously never held cards or chips before.

But the locations, casting & chemistry are so great it doesn’t matter, just like Heartbreaker & Angie, and the digging scenes, make album and book worthwhile. It also has the greatest end credits song in motion picture history.

Here’s to the next hundred viewings!

Look, I like Emile Hirsch in almost every movie,(Alpha Dog, Into the Wild) but he has had one of the worst, shockingly bad, flicks ever:

lol, I liked The Darkest Hour

Spoiler
Show

and I'm watching Dead Money while I write this and liking it too, guess I'm no movie buff

FYI-Dead Money is free to watch on Youtube
