I'm tempted

If you are interested in someone who stays in Vegas hotels regularly try to explain resort fees and completely butcher the topic…then today’s video is for you. #riceneedstherapy

Diesel finally realized how sweet dealing during the WSOP is. Can deal everyday and for every waking hour if he wants. So he can make his yearly nut of 20k in six weeks and take the rest of the year off like he pretty much did last year.

How is it possible that someone as Vegas savvy as Rice projects himself to be could be so out of touch with how much resort fees actually are? Seems like 2024 was a rough year for El Diesel: Lost the voucher drinks, lost his tier status and lost almost a buy-in at Red Rock that one time his Aces got cracked. If he didn’t land that summer dealing gig all of those might’ve pushed him over the Nomadic cliff…

Remember the last time he was espousing on the resort fee topic and explaining how resort fees were used to build and maintain Nevada state highways?

I took the dive. here are highlights:
"I'd rather pay $10 and have 3-6 cheeseburgers than pay $15 at JBs cafe and get one"
"In Elgin they had sandwiches but they weren't out, you had to actually ask someone". considering the previous comment, this seems appropriate when people like ELD are around

he thinks resort fees only variably double the room cost (10-10, 50-50, 130-130)

I like how he comments how the lounges "used to have food that doesn't just barely meat the definition of edible", which qualification passes everything he has eaten in the last 2 years
he talks about back in 2022 when he played in Vegas a LOT. here's a graphic showing his first/last session: 2.72 hours, +$26, last session: 3.90 hours, -$87

his goal is to qualify for the lowest possible tier level, not to actually earn money

ELD should go to Laughlin Tropicana to earn tier. Resort fees are only $16 in Laughlin Tropicana. Even a Nomad can afford that.

4 cheeseburgers for dinner, and then 2 pocket cheeseburgers for the road. Along with as many condiments as he can carry out with him.

Nothing like a couple of pocket cheeseburgers while you walk around all day until room rates drop.

Keeping them safe and warm with his natural body heat, just like a mother hen. I'm surprised he hasn't patented this system as yet.

Rice's goal is to qualify for the lowest possible tier level, not to actually earn money

This has been his strategy for a long time now, I'd say since he did the dealing gig at Orleans. Poker is only a vehicle for him to have status/benefits in order to keep his living costs as low as possible and also to have a constant supply of easy fodder for his YouTube channel.

I'd be floored if he is up a single cent from playing poker since he dealt at Orleans. He also likes to be able to claim professional poker player status, for his own ego more than anything else.

LOL, for serious?

Is Laughlin a real resort?

Yes for reals, no foolin'

Rice explained in his lecture that Nevada hotel resort fees were the equivalent of taxes levied onto out of state visitors to fund public works and maintenance for roads/highways etc

He should crunch the numbers to see if he might not be better off just staying in NY in mom's basement until WSOP time. He wouldn't be pulling in the youtube money but he wouldn't be spending money on gas much either. He wouldn't be losing at the tables or paying for rooms. He could deliver pizzas or something a few hours per week. There are probably a hundred gigs he could do for short money. He would love tutoring law school students. He could act like a know-it-all and the kids wouldn't know any better. He could also teach at community college, like a finance class where he could edify people about the joys of dividends. Those are usually only 2 or 3 hours a week and pay several hundred a semester.

Is Laughlin a real resort?

The Tropicana Laughlin is legit. I went there once and very convenient parking garage which makes your car safe even during flash floods in Laughlin. There is an In and Out Burger in the parking lot and a gas station connected to it wherein one can buy cheap drinks. An ideal place for when a 10X Laughlin day comes around even with a $16 resort fee, cycling through $1,000 even on slots can give Diamond tier.

Is the Tropicana the better one? I know there are two CET joints there. I see there's no poker there, but there is at Harrah's. How is it there?

Crap, there's a 5x multiplier this weekend at Harrah's. They're always sending me free trips to Laughlin but I doubt any of them are on multiplier days.

I couldn't help myself, I had to watch the resort fee video. Someone in the comments ruined it and told Diesel that resort fees are in the $50 neighborhood. One other thing he forgot about with losing Diamond is the free parking. How much is that now, like $22 a day?

seems like being a nomad living at casino hotels is a bad idea

Nah you get free parking with platinum.

Rice ain't going to be getting any job tutoring law skool students. How is he going to tutor IF he has not passed the bar? How is he going to tutor with his YouTube history? What type of CV does he have other than he went to law skool himself? If anybody checks him out, he is done.

How is he going to teach finance at a local community college? I don't think he has any background with finance, other than he owns some stocks or mutual funds. I don't think he has accounting proficiency, I would be surprised if he can read a balance sheet, statement of cashflows, income statement.

I don't think Rice knows anything about business/finance other than "buy some income producing stocks!".

Delivering pizzas would be AWESOME, as Rice has tremendous skills behind the wheel!

In today's video Skater Nomad drives back to Vegas for the $10,000 challenge and gets rinsed when the check engine light comes on in his Prius. He then goes Oreilly's to get the codes read and Oreilly's tells him his hybrid battery is cooked.

Skater Nomad vows to save the mighty Prius since it has a fold down seat for sleeping area and declares he will get it fixed and drive same for a long time to come.

He has an amazing resume! Best resume of all time.

Seven months entry level IT. And 14 months of grunt work at UPS. Plus, he tutored one summer for SAT students.

What is the point of this short of him at where South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota meet if he shows no landmark or even signage, etc.

You don't have to pass the bar to be a tutor. Most tutors are probably second or third year law students. He actually graduated. A practicing lawyer as a tutor? Probably a hundred an hour minimum.

He knows enough about dividends to teach a JuCo class. If you doubt that, ask him.
