Not in that 'couple of weeks'...

Any idea when the new room may open? Going to be in LV in couple weeks and if room is open will make time for a session there to support.

it may open 5 months ago

I was doubtful. As you are in/from Vegas. Is the map provided here even close to scale? The new space is much larger than the old space. Is this true? Are they going to use all the new space for poker? Is the room going to be ‘that much’ larger than the old.

What I find interesting is that PH is going to re-open their poker room. Granted it is going to be on the 2nd floor, no where near the casino floor. I wonder how much of this is an attempt at prestige.

One of the qualifiers to be a 5 star resort is that they must offer certain games, including poker. It can be part time (like Mandalay Bay), but it has time be offered.

I wonder if reopening PH is a weak attempt at becoming a 5 star resort. It is a long shot, but PH is Caesars/El Dorados and most valuable property in Vegas so why not?

It will be interesting.

Where are you seeing that PH is going to re-open their poker room?

I echo this question. I have seen/heard the rumors, but has it been confirmed now?

I echo this question. I have seen/heard the rumors, but has it been confirmed now?

It's as confirmed as Harrahs/Flamingo reopening after borrowing their workforce for the WSOP and as confirmed as Caesars temporarily closing only to accommodate high limit slots renovation.

In other words, it's all just rumors from people NOT in the know or just hoping Caesars sees the rumors and goes ya we forgot to reopen them and there seems to be interest. Let's reopen them.

The way I see it, if they were truly reopening, for one wouldn't you want to make a big announcement? Two, you need a decent sized staff to run a poker room so there would be public postings of job openings. You can't just pull 20-30 for PH or maybe 100 for Caesars out of thin air.

Rule#1: believe it when you see it

Rule#2: you might be able to skip #1 if there is an official announcement with concrete dates and plans.

Rule#3: nothing is official until it is official

Reality: it is more likely that a room will close than one will ever reopen

Can you elaborate on the basis to declare PH as the most valuable property?

Seriously. That statement had me questioning all my times visiting the different properties--what was I missing there...

I doubt anyone at PHo thinks they are a 5 star resort.

Dang-was really hoping this rumor was real. Had some great sessions at PH. Games usually had lots of action.

I have just heard from floor/dealers at Horseshoe whi used to work at PH. Most take it as a given.

Other than Nobu, PH consistently has the highest priced rooms for me (and a few others I have talked to). The renovated rooms there are nice and seem to be the most attractive to new/younger money.

Caesars Hotel brand is like the Cadillac brand. Attractive to a certain demographic of people, but that demographic is dying off and closer to being locked in a nursing home than spending lots of money on the strip.

I really think Eldorado is trying to position PH as a luxury hotel to a newer generation.

Completely different for me. The only LV consistently cheaper is Linq. PH is right in line with Harrahs and Flamingo. Then next up is Horseshoe. Then Paris. With Caesar and Nobu clearly and far away the most expensive. Forget where Cromwell fit in but was above PH

Oth pricing and comp avails align with this

God I would love to have insight into Caesars/El Dorado pricing. I am pretty sure that they don't even know what their players are seeing.

For a long time (last two years?!?!) The Cromwell was always highly priced for me. Nobody was always thr most expensive with Caesars and Cromwell right behind them so I figured El Dorado was trying to position Cromwell as a hugh end resort. However, they always had roo available to me. It didn't matter when I looked (Superbowl weekend, March Madness finals, F1, whenever), their rooms were expensive, but available. This means they were trying to position it as high end, but the market wasn't buying it. Not enough people were biting at the prices they were offering.

The last few months for me everything changed. Nobu is still the highest priced, and Caesars is still high, but not absurdly, but PH has been higher than Caesars. Paris is generally higher than others, but close to Horseshoe/Flamingo/Harrahs/Linq.

I assumed they were trying to make PH a higher end resort to the youngsters by charging higher prices. Sometimes perception becomes reality, if a company charges more for something the market sees it as better quality.

That said, now that I think about it, the last two times I used a 5000 tier point free rooms, I was able to use it at PH fairly last second. This means they are trying to get high prices at PH, but are not getting enough of what they want to sell out.

It looks like El Dorado is trying to move some of their hotels up market but are having a hard time doing so after years of running them like sawdust joints for so long.

Interesting.

Obviously this is all just based off of my experience (and some friends) and could ne completely wrong, but I think El Dorado is trying to make up for past mistakes.

All of that said, am I the only one who has heard the rumors of PH reopening their poker room (at a suboptimal spot)? I heard it from enough ex-PH dealers that I assumed it was true, but now I am questioning it.

Anyone else hear if this?

Just came back couple locals and dealer at Aria were talking about that consistent rumor. But none were really buying it. So it isdefinitely a real rumor.

Unless Caesars has a pool of dealers for Caesars and/or PH and made them sign a NDA, the rooms aren't reopening any time soon.

If you are a vegas regular who plays consistently across the entire city, you will know that daily cash game poker (which is the main reason to have a room in the casino) is down at pretty much every property. When I say down I mean it operates a level that is hard to justify a manager salary, multiple supervisors.

Rooms that are doing well and have consistent amounts of tables (15-20) on low traffic days can be counted on one hand.

It’s highly unlikely we will see a poker room at caesars or planet hollywood.

Tournament times in summer will still continue to grow and that mode of income (rising rakes) for the casino seems to be tolerable by the financial people.

This article (dated 2/19/25) talks about Caesars working on $1B in renovations at properties, and has the following quote in:

"One such project that he gave an update on was the poker room at Caesars Palace, which gave up its previous home near the sportsbook to a high-limit slot area last year. McBurney said a new poker room would be open “before the World Series of Poker starts” in the late spring."

As Mucked points out, the Caesar’s room is pretty much a done deal to open. We even know where and could probably take a peek at progress of construction.

Now PH rumor has been around awhile with no real info to support it. Iow it is a true speculative and maybe wishful thinking rumor.

One of the first signs that would confirm it's true is if they release a schedule for the PHamous summer series in about a month.

Today's reliable source says reopening 16th May, 'only' 8 tables:

God, I hope they don't bring it back...
