The only protection from societal collapse is a working escape plan. You need some currency to pay for the execution of the escape plan. Cripto might not be optimal to pay for it, it depends on the details of the societal collapse you envision.

But if you think societal collapse with riots in the streets, no food on shelves and so on is a high chance scenario you need an escape plan, currency to pay for it, and for your assets to be as mobile as possible.
