You over estimate the impact of the heat. Yes, it is serious and can literally kill. But you can mitigate this.I am into my 7th decade and not even close to being in great shape. But when we were there last June (and it was 115F), we were still able to do some light hiking out at Red Rock. We got there before heat of the day (but not 6AM either, like 9 or 10), plenty of water,

Hiking when it’s 115F sounds ***** miserable even if it’s doable. Besides, I want to see trees and waterfalls when I hike not a bunch of dirt and rocks b

You think the trees in the desert move elsewhere in the summer? Saw plenty of trees AND one of the hikes was specifically to see a spring (albeit not a water fall but that was also an option.)

Frankly, based on what you said, you should never do a desert hike regardless of temp.

People are different. Heat kills me. During lockdown I was taking midnight walks every night, but by the end of the month the heat made it too unpleasant. I'd come home feeling like crap.

If I don't have to scrape my windshield and commute to work the cold and snow are fine and even enjoyable to me.

Yes, most of Vegas is ugly to most people. I did go on a nice hike by a stream in Pahrump once. But yeah, I like to see trees and water more than dirt too.

Some people do love the dessert, though. Just understand that this is the Dessert, not San Diego or even LA. If you believe in climate change and drought, you might also want to read a bit about how that could unfold here.

Less than 5, and probably none.

Hendon mob shows poker winnings sans buy ins.
No one is going to tell you how much they make at poker after knowing you for 3-6 months. If they do they are usually bull shitting or going off of what they won during a short heater and they’ll be busto or awfully quiet about how much they’re crushing 6 months later.

I didn’t say those 3-6 months were used to talk to people nor research hendon mob.

If you play consistently and visit all of the casino poker options in vegas, anyone with a shred of common sense (like most in the thread) can deduce that this would be extremely difficult and highly unlikely.

If you want to see trees and streams, drive a little further into the mountains. You know, like the ones outside of town that are probably covered with snow right now.

Vegas and surroundings are mostly desert. That being said there are a ton of really nice green areas. Las Vegas wash up to Lake Mead is excellent, so is spring mountain ranch state park, not to mention Mount Charleston.

Spring mountain ranch state park is cool and shady and green during summer as well:

Hiking is not good for half the year in Las Vegas, unless you like getting up really early.

definitely year round hiking here if you dont mind driving out of the city 30 to 45 minutes

Yeah that's true, but it really depends on what part of town you're living in. The mountain in the far NW is really far if you live in Henderson. I don't know of any cool mountain areas on the south or east side, but maybe I missed them.

Do I think 500k is reasonable for anyone in public Vegas games? Hell no.

I think you could count on one hand how many people in LV are earning $500K, short of binking a tournament.

You must not be including strippers and hookers.

I know a guy that bought himself an Aston Martin, and one for his wife too. Those are a couple three hundred grand each. I don't know how much he makes, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he made more than a half mill. He owns a company that places and services ATM's. What better town to have such a business?

this discussion is about poker players in that income bracket

this discussion is about poker players in that income bracket

Most poker players who have had big binks put a good chunk of that into some asset class, be it real estate or the markets, or some business. Very few of the high stakes winning regs are solely relying on poker income at this point. Maybe on an upswing like Loenis has this past 1-2yrs, but I can guarantee hes diverted some of his results to some investments. It would be lunacy not to. This income completely shifts the dynamics of being a professional poker player which imo does make it more likely for people to earn high nets from poker as they can take bigger pieces of themselves. This also in turn can prove bad for a pros net results and then they gradually are seen less and less.

Tournament Player, totally novice in cash game.

Just curious what games give that kind of potential to make 1/2 million or million per year ?

Which Las Vegas poker room has that kind of traffic ?

Thx

Ah sorry, was late and didn’t read.

Both Bobbys room at Bellagio and table one at Aria has big games that are well beyond 500k.

Wynn also occasionally spreads 3k/6k mix games.

gl getting into those games.

The question wasn’t about getting into those games, the question was what the biggest cash games in town are. Pretty sure if you are a whale you can get a seat.

I don’t think there would be a line to get in to 3000-6000 Game !!
How much you need to get in to those kind of game ?
50 Big Blind ?

IE $300 K !!!

I am a casual player and only comfortable with $75-$500 Buy-in tournaments

And that’s even only 2/3 time a year.

Even thinking about bankroll of $300K gives me goosebumps!!
