Music: What are you listening to today?

Whoever engineered these recordings did a bang up job.

I have a friend who moved to a new city. His neighbor, who he didn't really know yet, was having a garage sale. He went over to check it out, and the guy had a bunch of Flaming Lips stuff for sale. My friend inquired about it, and it turned out he was the drummer.

I'm still not sure what to make of Andrew W.K., but I love that song. The live SNL version rocks.

I saw him do a Ramones set with Marky Ramone 10-12 years ago. Great show.

punk trio with the drummer singing harmony
fun to hear in a green day sort of way
john sortland currently plays drums for the shins

which is exactly where to find these two wright brothers making music with andy kerr

I have a friend who really likes this band. I dig a lot of punk music but can't get into this style. However, to give credit where it's due: these guys have some serious chops; really talented band. A lot of people rag on punk music, but there are a handful of bands that are incredibly creative and original, and some of them are much better musicians than they're given credit for. Also, as a bass player, punk often seems easier to play, but it's one of the hardest genres do right and actually make sound good.

80s synth-sound is always welcome, but I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of this one, though I don't dislike it. It's good and catchy, but not quite reaching the upper tiers.

Parts of it reminds me of Cindy Lauper in a 'she bop'-kind of way though (which is very much not a bad thing). Perhaps it'll grow on me.

I'm not sure how I haven't heard this one before you posted it - google tells me it reached number 17 in the Norwegian charts in 2014 so I don't really have any excuses.
